Miko is such a beautiful girl. And I read a news article last night, and it broke my heart. Miko said that she knew that she would do ballet for the rest of her life. Last night in that news article, it said that Miko had stopped dancing. Apparently she lost her passion for dance after she joined the company😭
Yes... She mentioned in an interview she started losing passion for ballet even earlier. It puts these ballet competitions in perspective a bit. Yes, she won, but students from top professional academies don't even go to competitions. Look at Maria Khoreva or Maria Bulanova.
She made a TED interview where she explained it all. She broke a foot, she had to stop dancing for 2 months, and during this while she realized she was turning crazy. She is a teacher now. But we lost a genius.
@isabs - I am not sure she was a genius. She was great in competitions, but there is a huge difference between competitions and a professional career. Do you really think she was better than these girls, for example: ua-cam.com/video/EWKd5sL4Md8/v-deo.html Keep in mind, girls from top Russian academies, from Paris Opera Ballet or from Royal Ballet School don't go to competitions, so being great doing adult variations in competitions doesn't really mean one is the best. How many of these competition winners end up having a great career? Some do, but many disappear.
Its funny how she said at the beginning she knew she would be a Pro and pointed many kids don't know what they wanted ... But now she studies medicine and works at it and doesn't joined a dance company.. she still dances but she mostly just give masterclasses
When I was watching the documentary, I was watching how Miko's mother was and something didn't seem right about her approach as a parent and how she spoke about food. Now I see that Miko had issues later and quit ballet; I am not blaming her mother but I am curious if her attitude in some way contributed.

Well, she’s still teaching, so ballet isn’t COMPLETELY out of her life. But still... :(
