Because it is. They were built by the American Locomotive Company since the 1940s. We have a lot of these too in the U.S, they're known as RSC-2 and RSC-3. Many were exported to countries like Australia and Portugal. In Portugal, CP 1500 is RSC-2 and 1520 is RSC-3.
I'm not sure but this could potentially be an old Michigan Northern loco! The paint scheme looks the same, and it looks very American. If this locomotive is still around, please respond to my comment! It would be cool to know the story of how it ended up in Portugal!
+Katz Studios LLC. This locomotive was bought new to Portugal in 1951. 1525 was the last of 5 Alco´s RSC3 batch. This was the first paint scheme when they came new. After several years in orange whit white straps,1525 receive this color again in 1998, to celebrate the 50 years of diesel traction in Portugal. Today, 1525 is the only survival of the batch and belongs to a rail contractor company - Somafel, with a yellow, white and black livery.

É mesmo desde que alteraram de 1500cv para 2000cv.. È como os carros de Rali, o ralenti já era.
Pergunta de um leigo. O ralenti da 1525 estava desacertado ou é mesmo assim?
