I'm kind of like you. When JMB left, I lost interest in SX for a while. He had a road racing career planned well before the end of the '92 SX season. He did pretty well too, until he had some injuries, which led to his retirement. I had his 24 Hours of LeMans win on tape, but it got erased. I would have loved to have put that on UA-cam. Glad you enjoy these races.
6:30 = damon bradshaw's career defining moment, threw away the SX crown while trying to wreck chicken....saw mcgrath coming up to 250s, the writing was on the wall....retired.
no bradshaw lost the title in the last race when he was straight up beat by stanton and failed to gain enough points by having to finish in 3rd spot which up untill then he was easily doing.pressure got to him and really was the end to any championship hopes for him and end to his career.
Stanton was my favorite rider, until I discovered Jean-Michel Bayle. Yeah, I remember watching one race in the late 90s and someone held up a sign that said "Anyone but McGrath". I totally agreed.
I often wondered about that, mo2cros. I knew they watched the Heats before doing the commentating, but not the Main. However, I still like DeSpain/Meyers. As far as McGrath goes, I was a bit of a McGrath fan when he was on the Honda, but when he switched to Yamaha I couldn't stand him. I remember some guy held up a sign during a race that said "Anyone but McGrath!" and I completely agreed. I was tired of seeing him win all the time. There's no doubt he's the king of supercross, tho.
McGrath started winning because Bayle quit racing, and went back to France.JMB would have made life hell for JM,and still to this day JMB is still better than MC.
bullshit, stanton straight up beat bayle in 90 and only lost the title in 91 because he got injured handing the title to bayle and stanton straight up beat bayle in 92..JMB would not have beat Mcgrath.
I was a Rick Johnson fan and liked Stanton when he came around because he was RJ's guy. When I finally got a chance to ask for his autograph he acted like such a dick. I'm sure he was having a bad day and is probably a nice guy, but I never forgot that day and never cheered Stanton again. He was also one of the guys who refused to race on the MX of Nations team.
what, stanton raced 3 times on the mx des nations as it was called back then.89/90/91.his come from behind to win it for the USA in 91 was the best ride i have seen by anyone PERIOD.
JMB won. Bradshaw made a mistake ? Or he prefered to push Matiasevich ? Bradshaw or how to loose a championship when you had title for you (the honda was bad during 4 firsts races). JMB could think it is funny !

The biggest single difference now in my opinion is the insane speed difference ,these tracks look so knarly compared to today ....

The motor cross teams are named after Japanese automotive companys.
Really? Wow that’s very unusual!

Bradshaw was the fastest rider during this era but still never won the 250 series.
lol ... you think what we have now is any better?

If Bradshaw weren't to pay the fine in full, he would've been suspended from the league for an unfair period of time.
In lieu of the fine is the apology of Bradshaw to Matiasevich.
