Man, a T5 swap in a RWD Volvo is such a sexy combination. Still, I think I'm gonna leave my 240 with its original 8v red block for now. A few questions: Is the diff open? I struggled to count tire marks but it looked like only one spinning wheel. Does your car have independent rear suspension or is it the solid dana 30 axle like in older RWD Volvos? Also, what transmission are you running and how did you go about connecting it up to the engine, does it just fit or was there some adapter / spacer plate fettling to do?
@@volvosfinest Neither of you talk about your tyre choice or rear end ratio - both of these things are critical to "can smoke the tyres with ease" or not. My 960 wagon has a 3.3 diff in the back and can't smoke the tyres in the dry even though they're just ordinary sized on stock wheels. But my stock NA 16v 740 sedan can easily smoke the same size rubber because 4.1 diff and shorter trans ratios, too. Despite 25% power than the 3.0 960.

Use zf gearbox from bmw, m90 won't last long if u have +350hp

It's the MKII independent suspension with a LSD, so two black marks 🙂 The M90 gearbox from 960 >95 bults right on.

A 16v turbo should not have any troubles doing exactly the same even tho it's the MK1

Well, kind of. The 960 have almost all parts needed. And yes, swap it all over to a 940 is not hard.
