The reason even Filipinos don't know it exists is because usually components-based products are unknown. I only knew it's existence when I was researching materials about Cebu-located tech companies for my blog back in ~2010. Celestica (a similar company from Canada which invested in Mactan) is usually present in Sundays jobs adds from Cebu's main newspaper, so I researched about it & that's where I knew they are the manufacturer of Xbox IIRC, thus hired by Microsoft. And then domino effect of knowing similar companies. That was the time I knew Taiwan was a leader in that field via their Foxconn which manufactures Xbox, PlayStation, iPhone core processors, IIRC: thus hired by Sony, Microsoft, Apple. But then I was surprised the Philippines had IMI, & even landed on the world's top 20. They were top 18 or 15 even during that time, IIRC. Such companies are the ones offering *outsourcing work* in the field of electronics components manufacturing. That's when I knew outsourcing isn't just BPO. And Philippines only topped IT-BPO but lagged behind in the manufacturing-based outsourcing but well-tapped by India, Vietnam, Indonesia, among others. consumer products are the one that is more recognize than these item but what i know mitsumi in cebu is more than imi, even there numbers of employees of about 14,800 in cebu danao only while IMI is only 10,000 plus all over the world

i wish there are more manufacturing companies in the philippines so that the country can industrialize and export more abroad. with exports, there can be more money being siphoned overseas into the ph economy and that way we can all have higher salaries. eh if its just commerce and malls and local benta benta, it's just exchanging hands with money thats already inside the economy. there needs to be benta benta to outside the economy to pull in more capital into the economy
More in-house math training, problem solving, communicating in words, strategies and skill set building sessions needed in companies. Even retails sales can enhance their math skills. When I bought a customized curtain for my window. The female sales would not talk to me to discuss the measurement with me. They are afraid to make mistakes because if they did, the company will deduct the loss from their pay check. Hence,more practical training for the sales people who seem to be high school graduates which means they need to increase their knowledge in math, reading, writing, and critical thinking.

Then he moved to Singapore with his family to work and to live there. Then back to the Philippines in 1993, building his big nice house in Laguna. Then I myself have a very short stint at IMI in 1993. Working as a Tech Maintenance for my brother's small firm Megachipsem. They are selling Singapore-made chip making machines. IMI bought a few good ones to test its performance. And I and my partner were the ones to repair them if something goes wrong. I saw those similar machines inside IMI made from South Korea. We have to wear a space suit (just kidding) before entering inside a huge cold "clean" room where the machines are churning out chips ready for exportation.
Actually IMI is a subcontractor of many manufacturing company electronic sometime I visit in IMI if they encounter problem in our products they manufactured as tech support
There's need for the Philippines to solve first it's High Input Cost of operation and production for it's Manufacturing Sector, like lowering it's expensive Electricity Cost, Integrating it's disconnected Supply Chains, Augmentation and Synergy of many Industries of the lower Value Chain to lessen the cost for Upper Products(which would make them competitive in the market) and further development and expansion of it's limited Infrastructure which still in deficit.
It's the reason why we need a 100% FDI because with the enter of Foreign Companies in the Philippines, these Local Company will have a competition and it will bring the Competitiveness out of them and force to change and aim higher Competition is what brings the best of us
These foreign companies will destroy local companies before they get any momentum, you're speaking out of idealism more than reality. There is a reason why in the Philippines, Angel's burger can compete with Burger King, Andoks can compete with KFC, Jollibee, Chowking, Mango Inasal and so many more homegrown companies can compete with giants like McDonalds. Having to find a job after 5 or 6 months is NOT EASY! i avoid those contractors or aka "agencies" so I can have my full salary. After my contract ends, it takes me months to find another Job and it is really devastating to me and my family! Im just lucky to find an Electronics company that does not implement "Contractualization" , and that changed my life a lot! Having a job thay won't end after 5 months is a great thing!

Karamihan kasi sa mga pinoy hindi pinapansin ang mga technical course. Kung nasa technical course ka, malalaman mo yung IMI at iba pang electronics and semiconductor na company sa pinas. Mas malaki pa ambag nyan sa economiya kumpara sa pinagsama na bpo at ofw remmittances. Tulad ng time namin, hindi pa kami graduate sa college hinahire na kami. Bago pa mag graduation, lahat ng graduating class na hire na ng ibat ibang company. Company mismo pumupunta sa school namin para mang hire. Noong nag ojt kami sa electronics and semiconductor company sa cavite, may sahod na kami at overtime pero walang tax. 415bpesos yung manila rate noong time na nag ojt kami tpos kami na nasa cavite 643pesos na ojt pa lang. 😂

That’s true with many businesses in Philippines. The business culture must change. The service in the US is customer based and so should the Philippines. It must learn the customer service culture from the US. The call centers in Philippines handle US customer service so the Filipinos working there know how important this part of the business is. In the Philippines I have to assert for good customer service. I paid over P200,000 for kitchen cabinets for my new condo and twice they cancelled their meeting and delivery by simply saying BUKAS NA LANG. No explanation, no apologies. they only acted with attention when I bombarded them with text and email demanding all of my money back politely but FIRMLY. Having lived in the US most of my life, I’m shocked at the calm ways Filipino businesses lose money because of this BUKAS NA LANG system.

IMI was just a subcon company. Do not expect high salary, and contractual still implented. IMI employee has no different from jollibee employee.
Foundries from Taiwan and Samsung .. designs are coming from other countries like USA. But it seems IMI are designing and creating chips.

Noong nag ojt kami sa electronics and semiconductor company sa cavite, may sahod na kami at overtime pero walang tax. 415bpesos yung manila rate noong time na nag ojt kami tpos kami na nasa cavite 643pesos na ojt pa lang. 😂

That’s true with many businesses in Philippines. The business culture must change. The service in the US is customer based and so should the Philippines. It must learn the customer service culture from the US. The call centers in Philippines handle US customer service so the Filipinos working there know how important this part of the business is. In the Philippines I have to assert for good customer service. I paid over P200,000 for kitchen cabinets for my new condo and twice they cancelled their meeting and delivery by simply saying BUKAS NA LANG. No explanation, no apologies. they only acted with attention when I bombarded them with text and email demanding all of my money back politely but FIRMLY. Having lived in the US most of my life, I’m shocked at the calm ways Filipino businesses lose money because of this BUKAS NA LANG system.
