Instead of secret video, which is a felony in my state, get a dual dash cam with signs. it'll deter bad behavior and record it if it happens.
Mystro! Switching between Uber & Lyft when one or the other gets a ping. Automatically accepts rides using your predefined parameters. This means the odds of getting pings on both services is greatly reduced. It doesn't forget to turn off the secondary app and does so in seconds.

I like Google maps because it tells you which lane, but in unfamiliar areas Waze is good because you can set it up to show speed limit and give you an audio ping.

and passengers should also grab the Transit app for uber rides, lyfts, bus, and trains.
Get a DashCam and "Recording" signs. No one actually refuses to be recorded, as they are used to seeing cams everywhere. Most comments I get are similar to: "That's smart. You need it for your own protection". They are are more likely to behave knowing that there is an active Cam. I think they are more sympathetic when I tell them that it's my own, and that Uber and Lyft are not watching.

What about a milage tracking app? Like MileIQ? And a deduction tracking app like Stride Drive?
Yes! Good call. However, when I did my taxes last year, Uber and Lyft reported how many miles I drive while online. I got to write all of those miles off. I'm not sure if you can write off the miles when you are offline.
I track my own mileage for Uber and Lyft because activities related to the business is deductible as well. Drive from home to the gas station without turning on the app to fill up? Deductible. Drive to Walgreens to buy gum you keep in the car for passengers without turning on the app? Deductible. Finish driving and turn off the app on the way home and stop to get food? Deductible. If it's directly related to the business, the mileage is deductible. Hope this helps.
I used Spotify for a while and then I experimented with Sirius radio. Sirirus is the better route to go. Take time to memorize your "go to" channel numbers. Your passengers do not want to see you flipping through the channels. Memorize your demographics. Yes, that includes remembering the different channels for rap. Rap people rate you too.

Q. I live in the OC in Cali and I'm thinking of starting one of the delivery apps as a driver. Which do you recommend in my area to make the most consistent money possible? UberEats, Doordash, Postmates, Grubhub, Caviar
UberEats has been REALLY slow in LA for me. I'm lucky to get one request in an hour. I would recommend starting off with GrubHub and DoorDash
Wakey will keep your screen from going dark when you don't have Uber driver app or navigation app. open. Also a timer so you can watch the amount of time it takes for your passenger to come out. For Uber X you can collect a no-show fee after 5 minutes. The Uber app times pool requests so I don't bother timing those.
Thanks for your input. What would you need that Wakey app for though? I cant think of a situation where I would actually use it. I always have my Uber app open if I am online waiting for a request. Good call on the timer. Every smartphone has one built in
If I'm watching for surge when offline, or texting my wife and waiting for a reply. Be careful not to be away from Uber app for too long... it will log you out automatically if app not visible after a while.

Bye Felicia Good question. You can either find a parking lot in a busy area that won't mind you parking there or you can drive near busy area's like back roads, not highways. You know, like cruising. But after you learn your area (in an Uber way) you will know what to do.

Waze gives you gas prices
Video that is captured without diclosure is not admissable in court. In other words. If you don't TELL the passengers they are being recorded or have a sign that says that the ride is monitored by closed circuit video. No matter what they did, the video can NOT be used as evidence in court. I: if someone hit you stabs you shoots you and it's on video, and you didn't tell them BEFORE they acted then the court will throw out the evidence
What about security cameras outside of homes or in stores?

Negative. Most states....not all ......are one party states.as long as one party to the situation knowsabout it thats lawful. Also and Uber car would probably be considered a public area in relation to the rider and therefore recording the rider covertly or overtly would be perfectly legal as well so yeah no lawsuit there pal

To ALL DRIVERS, STOP giving automatic 5 Star rating to Riders.
Stop, Stop, Stop !!! All Riders Start at 4 Star Rating , then work up or down depending on the Quality of the rider. Just because a rider got in, got out and paid, Does NOT justify a 5 Star rating.
Just like ALL Drivers have to work and strive for 5 Stars, so should ALL Riders.

I am tired of seeing an Obvious 1 star rider with a 5 star rating. 1 Star Riders should be on a bus or a bike, Not having the Privilege of riding in your car and getting 5 star service.
Yes people, it is a Privilege to ride in a nice, clean car and receive 5 star service for a riders measly $5 to $10.
Drivers, this is the Only job in the world that you have the ability to Rate and Review a customer / rider. Don't let your rate go to waste. By properly rating a rider you are helping other drivers be safe and create a positive environment.
Let me remind you, if a driver gets a 4.6 or lower rating You Get Deactivated. Bye bye. ..
What happens when a rider gets a 4.6 or lower rating? ??? U hear those crickets yet....that's right, Absolutely Nothing happens to the rider. 4.3, 3.9, 3.1 rating. ..nope, sorry, nothing happens to the rider. And if for some Miracle the rider does get deactivated, they open another account in about 60 seconds.
What can you do if you get deactivate. .....nothing.
So, Use Your Power of rating and reviewing riders to keep the ride share community safe and positive. This is Ride Share, Not Ride Slave!!!
Don't be afraid to rate riders 1 star.
And if you think your going to give a rider a 3 or 2 star, just go ahead and hit the 1 star to be sure it actually has an affect on them.
In my opinion, DON'T pick up riders below 4.6 star rating. This will send a message to riders to shape up and be thankful that they are Privileged to get such a fantastic service for their crappy and ridiculous $5.

About your secret camera app, in my state, it's illegal to record videos of passengers, unless you disclose it to them. Instead of that, I'd recommend drivers to put a camera in the dashboard and let passengers know that they are being recorded. Otherwise, you're doing something against the law.
