I have never heard of this reaction with morels before, It is reported 2 people died and 40 people got sick from eating raw morels at a sushi restaurant in Montana. Supposedly the mushrooms were just marinated in something. One of the articles I read said they were 'true morels'. I assume what they are saying is they were a Morchella and not a Gyromitra species. I haven't found what the specific species was yet. This story seems strange because I have been collecting wild mushrooms for over 40 years and have never heard of this happening with morels before.
@@bouncerslabrealnature9143 True but Well, After some research, I found out more. The morels were imported from China. They are a cultivated species, 95% chance they were Morchella importuna. Here is the thing, the symptoms of the people that died don't match reported toxic reactions from eating morels that I found, which are like being drunk*, and there have been no reported deaths that I have found. These people died from kidney and liver failure. Suspiciously, What can cause that reaction is the anti-slug and snail pesticide metaldehyde, which is used in outdoor morel cultivation. The FDA reported they tested samples from the restaurant and could find no toxins, mushroom or otherwise, in the mushrooms eaten. The claim is that specific morel toxins are unknown and nothing else was found. This story just doesn't add up. Tons of cultivated morels have been eaten and this has never happened before or they would have been pulled from the market. There is no indication the FDA will do so now. There is more to this story. I just have that feeling there is a cover-up going on. *There have been some reported toxic reactions to eating Morels either raw or large quantities cooked (like a pound) all at once in some people. The reaction is reported as neurological, mostly described as like being drunk to very drunk.
They are worth the pain. 😳⚠️ Although I fell and hurt my knee, it's not the morels fault.... it's my own clumsiness while walking on the hills to find them.

The pain I speak of is from falling down the hill multiple times 😂😂.
@@bouncerslabrealnature9143 I am very suspicious of that story. ;0)
@@hubrisnautwe are all suspicious of it because they are trying to regulate everything we do .... especially if it's finding food for free. ⚠️
