    Oh my goodness, the young woman facing 20 years in prison. She doesn't know it now but having Judge Boyd oversee her case could make a huge difference in her life. If she avails herself to the process and follows the judge's directions she will likely be able to get her life together and build a future she can be proud of. * I always get a chuckle out of how Judge Boyd seems fascinated by people's tattoos😊

    DO NOT EVER LIE TO JUDGE BOYD!! She has a photographic memory and she will put you under the jail. Gosh I love judge Boyd! She’s a no nonsense judge. Period. And she loves ice cream and her mama!! Lol ohhh, and don’t call your children “kids”. I hate it when people call children kids also. Kids are baby goats.

      Apparently, she doesn't have photographic memory. She keeps referring to the girl's "mother" 6:44 and 7:02 even though the girl has told her that her mother is not in the picture. She clearly stated that she lives with her "grandmother."

      Hope the young lady can get everything done 40 hrs work per week, 150 hrs community service, parenting classes, sober meetings, outpatient drug treatment. Only so many hours in a week.
      I would assume that work hour minimum can be lowered if attending intensive out patient treatment (can be 4-8 hours a day).

    I can never say enough about how much I love Judge Boyd and her ways. She's firm and also understanding. Thorough and to the point. Very business like and also a guiding hand. Like a Mother should be. She is wise beyond her years, and should be respected completely. She's curious and honest. Great Judge, Great Woman, Great Human. I can't get enough! She deserves recognition. She should be on the Supreme Court. She would make all those dumb-butts straighten up and fly right. My personal HERO. ❤

    Fabulous!! Moral Recognition Therapy! I'm 71 and I've been suggesting this for years. So glad to see it actually happening. Should be mandatory for every single criminal. They seem to have lost their moral compasses along the way!

      I think she was looking at his tattoos it might have been a lot of racist markings and he covered them up. But she kept pressing and so when the lawyer made the Indiana joke I think because he was offended he made a racist remark, which kind of explains why she kept asking about the tattoos, he says he was young and doesn’t think like that but was quick to reply about watermelon.

    I love that the judge gave the option of getting a GED…it made a idea come to me that they go to a trade school as punishment, they come out getting a trained skill…and possibly get a good job and make a great living and possibly stay out of trouble

    The young lady should count herself lucky that the whole system is trying to assist her with getting her life back on track, from getting an education to finding subsidized accommodation to drug counselling etc etc. This kind judge is such a blessing, yet her reward is an arrogant stare from the defendant

      It’s not an absolute. Licensing boards will consider type of offense, time since offense, steps taken to fix behavior, and age when offense was committed.
      Must always be honesty with board. Also best to be proactive with board.

      Depending on how drug court goes she very well may still be able to obtain a paramedic license

In the state of Texas (where this court presides), there are very few professional licenses that can legally be issued to persons with a felony conviction on their record. However, the licensing authority can waive those restrictions if they believe that you have worked hard to become a better person.

    The young lady is proof that a mother and father can make a deference in a person's life. She was taught 'not to care'. That shows. At 20, her brain is still developing so hopefully she gets help and also is given a mentor. Hope she learns to respect herself and others.
