WOW! That was so great! I love it how they started out with the older woman dancing - and she is great by the way. Too often they seem to put us in the back. I wasn't aware of this type of dancing and it was so much fun to watch and the dancers looked like it took no effort at all, so relaxed and natural. Thank you for this!!

I live in the foothills of the Appalachians. My dad used to take me up to a farm where music and dancing like this was common. I'm so lucky I got to experience this!

This took place literally 5 minutes drive from my house in the States. It was an absolutely amazing weekend! I went last year as well. I’m Irish/Scottish, so you know I had a keen eye out for anything not fitting traditional Irish/Celtic things. They did a phenomenal job. Even had “Strawhenge” with photos and the history of Stonehenge posted. It was built with bales of hay and was brilliant fun. I’ll be sure to be back in the States for next year’s Festival!

In past years we wore a matching store-bought dress, but it did not swing well. This year we just went with a blue color scheme.

There are also a surprising number of Appalachian clogging groups in the UK, such as Raise the Dust and Crooked Moon. @@CommonWealthDanceCollective I've been a traditional English dancer for over 40 years and I love this style of dance.
@rowancrew2934 Some of the dancers in our group do something called English Country dancing. And I know there's a lot of wooden clog dancing in the UK. There are also a surprising number of Appalachian clogging groups in the UK, such as Raise the Dust and Crooked Moon.

@@CommonWealthDanceCollective That's very kind of you I am in the UK.I teach Morris dancing and formed a side several years ago which became very successful also we became what is known as a singing side , performing traditional songs.
