I am proud that I work for Filson in the north west... but not for much longer... be aware they are shutting down factories in USA to produce overseas! Little left to say "MADE IN USA" Please let all know to watch labels! So sad!
Car Zie - I just purchased a Macinaw wool vest on the Filson website. When it arrives and I find out it’s not made in the USA, I’ll be sending it back. I will not put up with that.
graycloud057 they will actually say where it’s made if you scroll down and they will still be making stuff in the USA just the hipster stuff will be made overseas so you can still buy there staple items like the mackinaw cruiser and it’ll be made in the usa
I own a tonne of Filson clothing/bags. Well over 30 pcs. I have this hat in green, and it is still as good as the day I bought it about 10-12 yrs ago. I’ve actually washed the wax out of it for more comfort, and less sweatiness. Seems the prices have gone way up, reflecting the yuppie/lumberjack buying crowd. I have other clothing labels that are more waterproof, warmer, lighter, ...but I do love wearing Filson when hunting, fishing, dog walk in the woods.
Seems to be pretty common these days. Heavy-duty hiking and outdoors clothes manufacturers have started aiming their products to people who want to look like lumberjacks or hunters even if they only visit national parks and never stray away from roads and paths. I remember when Fjällraven clothes used to be the real deal, meant to last a lifetime. Their durability has suffered greatly since then and their cut is first and foremost meant to look cool, rather than being practical. I really like the looks of Filson clothes and I do hope that they still are good quality, but the pricing is absurd. The only product that I'm actually considering right now is just their hat - the tin cloth bush hat actually (the one on this video doesn't seem to be the bush hat).
Hi, have you noticed any shrinking or stretching with your hat? I got the shelter hat and it's a bit snug on my head... I can't tell if I should send it back. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
haha! I came here to ask this very same question. I've had my eye on a tin packer hat for quite a while now and the word from the plains is that they shrink over time. My head size is 23 inches so that places me on the higher end of a 'Large', according to Filson's sizing, so I guess I should go one size up to account for the shrinkage that'll come over the years. Thanks!
Emma Tennyson I hear you Emma, and have a Tilley, which is another legendary hat, but they don’t look better with age like the Tin cloth. They sure are better in the heat though. Take Care.

Car Zie that is sad to hear. I am a big Filson fan, but I will not buy any of their products that are not made in USA
That’s is the only reason I started buying them. My dad wore their products for years. Maybe I’ll buy from Woolrich if Filson becomes cop outs.

Five years old. That hat is just getting broken in, lol. 👍🏼👍🏼
Wow the packaging looks wonderful, really impressed, great review
skipper shut-eye Thanks, Skipper!
I just bought the XL mossy hearing that it does shrink. A little loose, but can't wait to get out on the stream. Does the bow go in front, or back?
Bow goes in the back
@wellmadethings Is this the tin cloth Packer or tin cloth bush hat? I like the one you have that is worn in! Thanks
It looks different. Like it's not a fedora shape. It looks like it is totally circular. Is that true?
It is neither the packer nor the bush hat. It is a style they discontinued.
If have the green tin cloth packer hat, mist about 25 years old, still going strong, but it needs some treatment what would you use ??
I’d go with the Filson tin wax. That hat must be perfectly aged!
@@sbreslin41 , It is broken in nice, I have a small to medium hat size and anything tall looks dumb on me, this is broken in and lays nice.
Been looking at this hat for summer hikes. Would have been nice to actually see it on your head!
Fair point!

Customer service just told me they shrink a lot.
Tom Samilson My tin cloth version shrank a lot, so I would guess you'll get shrinkage. I'd return it. Best of Luck- Sean

I just got the Filson origonal tin cloth hat. Got it for $55
Good deals where? Where did you get it for $29.99?
It was a sale on the Filson website. Probably not a super popular item.
Thanks very much, Kevin
If you ever get into felt hats, check out Akubra
Farnhamification Will do. Dying to get a felt.
How many price...so i m from indonesia...
I have this hat. Love it.
I'm a 7 7/8 in a yankee hat, and easily a XXL.
Did you find that this hat shrinks over time from getting wet, being exposed to heat, or during washing?
I have a massive head and I still doubt it will fit me but maybe.
I love mine. About five or so years old too. It does get hot and mine stained a little from wood work.
Throw away the hat and keep the box.
Well, they are not well made anymore.

You can’t wash this. Tilley are better.

Except Tilleys look like crap.
