The pet & chair dilemma as a childless millenial is SO relatable. I bought a brand new couch and recliner last year, and the recliner is super comfy and even rocks. However, my one cat has claimed it as hers and sleeps in it ALL the time every single day. Any time I try to use it, she sits on the floor in front of it and stares me down until I get up and move -__- I even try to tell her that I'm the one who bought it, but she has zero cares to give.

RE: Protecting the books from the sun: You can buy UV window film and that will help immensely, it will let a decent amount of light in, but blocks the UV rays, it makes a WORLD of difference.
