As a cancer survivor, best of luck to you man. Chemo kicked my butt and I couldn't even get out of bed at times. The fact that you are still up and doing things, good on you man.
my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago. They did chemo and gave her 6 months to live. 12 years later and she is still going strong. It wasnt so much the treatments as it was the attitude and mindset that kept her positive and exercising through the toughest times. Positive energy, and love from Cape Town SA.
I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma 2 years ago. My right kidney was almost the size of a yellow squash and I had to have emergency surgery. Fortunately, it didn't spread that much, but it did spread to a couple spots in my lungs and ribs. The medication I'm on is called cabozantinib, it's not exactly chemo but it does have some side effects (although not as much). It prevents new small blood vessels from growing, which does have side effects of severely reduced energy, slower wound healing, etc, but it disproportionally affects cancer cells. The only symptoms I had leading up to it were fever, cough, and acid reflux...my doctor thought it was covid until every test came back negative, and they did a CT to find out what it was. I really should've died, somehow didn't...only because I was in very good health right before. I only recovered to maybe 60% of where I was, and I look and feel 20 years older overnight. They did a bunch of tests and it's genetic, I've been a ticking time bomb all my life. I have a mutation that causes both leiomyoma (benign arm bumps - which my mother and grandfather also had), and kidney cancer. It's pretty much 100% and usually happens in your 20's or 30's. I lasted until 49...51 now. This will eventually be terminal, but there's no way to tell how much time I have left. I went from looking and feeling 30, to looking and feeling my age overnight.
I couldn’t help but remember a line from the very first video I saw on this channel. Referring to a board repair: "This is not pretty, but it doesn’t need to be, just like my haircut." Steve, your haircut was never pretty, balding isn’t necessarily better, but it represents something much more important for all of us: your fight against this cancer. We are all here waiting to celebrate together your imminent victory!
Take heart that lymphoma is very treatable, Steve. Even the "severe" types. Hank Green has recently gone through this. I'm confident you will get through this.
My dad had Lymphoma, sadly he didn’t make it, it was a really hard time, but one thing I’ve learnt from this, is that you need all the support you can get from family and friends, because it’s the only thing that keeps you doing when you lose someone so close to you. Wish the best for Steve!
I have never had cancer but my family members have. I have never commented on your channel but the life you are showing in your videos is inspiring. I have learned so much from you and I want to say thank you for sharing your passion and love for this. I will be praying for you but I know you can conquer this.

Steve...I had a melanoma removed 14 years ago. Scariest time of my life. I can understand what you're going through and I think you're doing the right thing. Being open and honest and just trying to carry on with your life without pretending there's nothing wrong. It's hard to accept but accepting the bad stuff makes it easier to push through. I got incredibly lucky in that it was all removed through a minor surgery and no further treatment was needed. Dr and oncologist both said it was caught as early as it possibly could have been... found by accident actually. Keep up doing what you're doing and don't be afraid to let people help you when you need it. Also please don't worry about disappointing any of us if you're not feeling up to putting it new content. I'm sure I speak for all your viewers when I say that we'd rather see you happy and healthy than just fixing stuff.
Best of luck with your treatment. I have really enjoyed watching your videos and learning how to improve my own ability to make repairs. Look forward to seeing many more
Best of luck on your fight Steve. My mom had Hodgkin's Lymphoma a few years back (luckily she's still here today). I remember the bald head wasn't the big issue, but when eyebrows started going, it was hard for her. We'll be here for ya haired or hairless! And thank you for saving my favorite game of all time!
