Hello SUSD! I know this wont reach you (most likely not), but as a young (very young!) board gamer in my early teens, i would like to thank you guys and others in the board gaming community for being so welcoming and helpful in my journey into this hobby! Thanks alot guys! Your website has got me into many new games that my friends and I love to death! Thanks!
I love the spatula. My partner got me a "croupier stick" as a joke gift after watching me play wargames, because of all those old British war films with the people moving models around in the war room.
Fantastic video, thoroughly enjoyed the format and dynamic that you all had together. Hilarious video and I'm looking forward to more videos like this in the future. Cheers!
This is an old video but interestingly I recognize Tom and Mae from ATCB Gaming channel (formally A Town Called Bastard). I didn't know that they knew or played with the SU&SD crowd.
Pip continues her love affair with hats. We get to see what happens when orders from above simply can't help you or let you help yourself. Maen makes a triumphant comeback. Can you hold onto cards in this came and keep drawing them? I'm asking because it looks like it would be a way of getting around having attacking cards when there's nothing to attack yet or defensive cards when your target's out in the open and vulnerable. That looks like it was tense and exciting. Cool!
I've never played this - but how do you stop the person handing out the orders just telling you what to do? Is there any game for the two on either side besides being glorified tank moving sticks?
Help me out a little bit. But first I have to say, amazing play. How many hours? Ok, what do I need to play this game. I have two Memoir '44 and Overlord deck. I'm I supposed to combine these inte one massive deck or do each side get one each? Do I need som extra expansion. Easten front maybe. How does it work with the city fighting cards. Where are the rules for them?
Can someone help me please. I have a copy of memoir 44. I'd like to get operation overlord, which is available to buy, but the printed maps ie hedgerow hell, the sword of stalingrad etc.. Doesn't seem to be available to buy and looks to be out of print. Is there some sort of work around or will they be doing another print? It seems ludicrous that operation overlord is available to buy but if you bought it then you couldnt play it as there are maps available. Am I hopelessly confused or being a dumb ass? Help me obi wan kanobi
so operation overlord, do you actually need two copies of memoir 44? where do you get ny of the overlord stuff anymore? it seems like everything but the base game is out of print.
Surely this game should have been called Operation Barbarossa ? Not sure how much of a role the Russians had in Operation Overlord ... Enjoyed the vid btw :)
Haha, well, at least you're honest . Also, I've seen many of your videos where you call out games for their objectification of women, so I know you're working hard to not be a bunch of sexist bros :-) .
I've played many memoir 44 situations where even with overwhelming odds I've lost due to bad dice rolls. memoir is too dice rolly to be considered "tactical". It's more of a "stacking the odds" game than anything else but just like any gambling game the dice can screw you quite easily. There is no real skill in memoir.
Ajeba98, i agree with your assessment, but the game is still fun for me as it allows me to play with my kids. I think m44 is meant for a more causal audience.
Ahah "I'm the leader of the nazi part and I like-" *cuts*
Gold
I forgot how young they looked. Before the war...
Your memory is still intact? Lucky youngster...
@@PMMagro Well it was six years ago when I made that comment, anyway.

My mother (aged 80) actually does play it -- and she beats me at it more often than not.
"Hello... I'm the leader of the nazi-party. And I like..." Cut to turn one...
Perfect! XD

Back in the days when Matt was the mystery man behind the lens.
Stupid sexy Matt
"I'm the leader of the Nazi party, and I like" [cut] was really fucking funny.
I love how daniel radcliffe dropped the tanks
CptnHammer1 Harry Potter and the order of the iron cross

A SUSD classic. Loved this one.
Still loving it in 2024. Thank you sooo much!
Love the Hoover in the hallway. 😂

"I want to shoot things before they get close because when they get close everything gets messy"
Thats not the soviet way!

You guys are my new favourite UA-cam channel
I watched the whole thing and I'm still asking myself: Why was the tripod on the table? I don't think I saw that shot anywhere?
1:47 masterful comedic timing
I love the videos with Pip. Wish there were more. :'(
I love going through your older videos. You put out such great and humorous content. Btw, whatever happened to Maen? Tom?
Great poem about the eating peas with honey!
This is the most 10,000 IQ board game joke video of all time, peak satire
I've never played this - but how do you stop the person handing out the orders just telling you what to do? Is there any game for the two on either side besides being glorified tank moving sticks?

"Now I've got to go in the special Gulag lift to the Gulag. It's just... it's not on."
Nice to see a glencairn glass featured, what whisky were you drinking?
Great video! It is a great game while playing overlord :)
The editor was what intrigued all of us to stay and wactj

"YOUR MOTHER COULD PLAY IT!" LMAO
And I like
NOPE, WE CAN'T SAY THAT
I love the posh British back-and-forth.
Great to see you guys together again
Eric Preble it's a reupload from 2013
eh, new to me at least
nice way of showing 'war weariness'.
Why did Paul go to the gulag? Surely Tom would have been the subject of a purge long before that
Do you guys have the rules of how you played on this somewhere cause can’t find them obviously :p
Great game .... when's the rematch?
Surely this game should have been called Operation Barbarossa ?
Not sure how much of a role the Russians had in Operation Overlord ...
Enjoyed the vid btw :)
So cool!
look at all you guys with your decent houses
coolest
I don't eat peas. Not even with honey.
How come the girls never really got interviewed behind-the-scenes?
We messed up! 2013 feels like a long time ago. -Matt

I was kinda hoping we'd get to watch the full playthrough, not just random jumpcuts...

t34 top heavy? he must be thinking of shermans
Nothing like a good bit of plastic slaughter.
The best part of this video is the girl in the helmet rolling dice. Tremendous.
MASSIVE PEEP SHOW VIBES HAHA
The Russian spirit lies in it
No oh No

Wharhammer 40k
Edward Snowden is about to lose.
I hate memoir 44, horrendously unbalanced and way too much RNG.
ajeba98 RNG?
Random Number God. He means there's too much dice-rolling and the like, such that the game is too reliant on luck to win.

You're likely right. memoir helped me understand I prefer more control and calculation from euro games than rng dice rollers.
The game looks like shit. :0
