his band has been with him many years now, it must be amazing to play with him and all the incredible places they have got to play and people they would have met. When they first learned to play their instruments i bet they would never have imagined they would play with the most famous musician /song writer all time.
"Feel the thunder!!!" God I'm in love with this song, I've (literally) listened to it for about 30 minutes. His live performance of last week in Mexico amazed me for his astonishing energy. Keep it on MACCA!!!
Excellent song that I never really listened to....love the live version! Love the look he gives at 1:25....seems to be really enjoying himself!! thanks for all the music Paul!!!!
The guy`s 80! now and simply fantastic ( this particular Song comes from the tripple Collaboration with Producer "YOUTH" also Bass Player with KILLING JOKE - as the Firemen)...tho since 1969 he seems to be affine for rooftops...
why doesn't everybody know about this performance? this anthem is so uplifting - it made go to nyc the next day after i first discovered it (last year) to see if i could find him playing on the rooftop.
I agree- he sounds so full of feeling- energy-emotion- I think it's because it reminds him of the Beatles 1st time on this show and the Beatles Rooftop Concert cause' he's on a roof performing for free just because he loves music.
A great tune - As a follower of Killing Joke, it seems that Youth brought this energy and musical direction from his work with Sir Paul to the KJ albums that followed just a few years later
I wish I was there. ,I was too busy in 2009 at Bethpage Golf Course with the U.S Open & other tournaments so my boss wouldn't let me see this & I live 15 miles from Manhattan.I wish I could have gone !!!
he did sing "whe nim 64" at a concert during the month of his birthday and he also had his band stop playing 1 song and did a surprise singing of the Beatles song "Birthday" when he turned 64.
Paul's not quite 70- Ringo is 70, but I still agree-both Paul and Ringo are full of energy and talent for their age- most people become lazy at that age, but not Paul- he still rocks out like he's young, his voice is as good as it was 40 years ago in spite of all the use it gets.
I saw him in Munich 2016. he came out half an hour earlier than the officially start, played „We can work it out“ at first and then one by another hit 4 hours.!! And was kind to the people and fresh and jumped like a kid backstage after. Not comparable. Not to Madonna, not to Lenny Kravitz, not to REM, not to Peter Gabriel not to Oasis… He is one of a billion
Please can you write for me the lirycs letters of third 3 verse of this live in new york SING THE CHANGES by Paul McCartney (The Fireman) -Letterman 7 15 09 1 verse Like the sunbreak In the morning Feel the quiet Feel the thunder Ev’ry ladder Leads to heaven Coloured pencils Draw the picture Sing the changes As you're sleeping Feel the quiet Feel the thunder Feel the changes Going over Feel the quiet Feel the thunder 2 verse Like the sunbreak In the morning Feel the quiet Feel the thunder Every ladder Leads to heaven Coloured pencils Draw the picture Sing your praises As you're sleeeping Feel the sense of Childlike wonder 3 ????????????????? Am I the only one who wonders how the same person who sang, "Yesterday," "I'll Follow The Sun," "Don't Want To Spoil The Party," "Hey Jude" and hundreds of other great songs could be singing that every ladder goes to heaven. Oh where have you gone great music!
I actually opened for B.B. king a few years back in an amphitheatre (blues guitarist) Played some gigs with Freddie Fender back in the 80's & had an audition with Reba McCintire's band but declined to raise my kids.I was also a studio musician.I really loved McCartney in the Beatles and tons of stuff he did afterwards. He's probably the best bass player ever.I just don't care for the song and he seems like kind of a dick now.I do like your reply though and it made me laugh.
I think that before this performance Paul should've worn big Amber sun glasses, worn black boots, and met with George Bush about AIDS in Africa and .... Oh crap, if you read my previous posts you already know where I'm going with this.... Someone please let me know if I'm on the right track with this song? C'mon, it tales so little but means so much.
Shouldn't Paul be singing in Hi-Heels, spinning around, in a shadow sillouete, doing a commercial for IPODS while he sings this song??? Oh The Edge, where art thou Now?? Sorry that this song sucks but U2 could've done it much shittier.
o.k. now let everyone know I am a huge Lennon/McCarney fan leaning more towards Lennon but this song sounds tooo much like U2 and their singer Boner (is that his name?) C'mon the backup vocals, the echo 2/3 note guitar licks/Sunday Bloody Sunday anybody?? McCartney has so many good songs even after his departure from the Beatles (Wings etc.) but this song just doesn't sound very good to me. Anybody with me on this or am I a pompous snob A-hole?

I remember this song just taking off when watching it live. It's timeless
Is it just me....or does this song start in the middle, and just get better ! Brilliant arrangement. Surprise is entertainment.
You're walking down the street in New York. From up above you hear music. You look up, it's Paul McCartney.
You don't get that in Des Moines.
You don’t get all the crime, garbage and bad smells in Des Moines either.
This song is his best for years, it is amazing! He is ace live, long live Paul!!!!!!
You mean age?
that bass has rung out all over the world and been felt by millions
Just like his voice :)
lucky people to be in midtown NYC on that summer day for a free concert from the best in the biz. Wow!
his band has been with him many years now, it must be amazing to play with him and all the incredible places they have got to play and people they would have met. Paul's voice on this song is fantastic. If you were a mile away and heard this you would know instantly who was singing.
A great moment ! Never forget it.
To cool I have not seen this since the original airing of Letterman
Excellent song that I never really listened to....love the live version! Love the look he gives at 1:25....seems to be really enjoying himself!!

5 Stars Paul & his band

No question, this is the best piece of music/video taken in a Letterman show ever.
A great tune - As a follower of Killing Joke, it seems that Youth brought this energy and musical direction from his work with Sir Paul to the KJ albums that followed just a few years later
macca-best of all time
Love This Song N Love Sir.PaulMac ❤
I wish I was there. ,I was too busy in 2009 at Bethpage Golf Course with the U.S Open & other tournaments so my boss wouldn't let me see this & I live 15 miles from Manhattan.I wish I could have gone !!!
This is the best version :D go letterman!
Superb ! I think this sound is better than official original sound ! Do you think so ?
+Kenmei Takeda Yes! Looser, rawer, more energetic and spontaneous. Also the higher register on the vocals is better. Great song!
I think so!!
Yes
He is still cute and good looking as ever despite his age. Who are the members of his band?
Rusty Anderson- Electric guitar, backing vocals
Brian Ray- Electric guitar, bass, backing vocals
Abe Laboriel Jr- Drums, percussion, backing vocals
Paul Wickens- Keyboards, percussion, backing vocals
Love paul looking up at 1.28 and smiling at the sheer joy of the great music him and the guys are laying down
Here at Buenos Aires Argentina al streets are closed when a musical show is running...and the shows is been played INSIDE THE THEATRE!!!
he did sing "whe nim 64" at a concert during the month of his birthday and he also had his band stop playing 1 song and did a surprise singing of the Beatles song "Birthday" when he turned 64.
Next time you're in the greatest band on earth or playing the Letterman marquee please let us know.
..when you hear good music..it sticks with you..
thank you for this incredible post!

Amazing!! Thank you very much.
There will come a day that we cannot see true artists anymore. Macca is one of the last.
Thank you very much for the video. Impressive!

You're a dumbass. This is a great tune. Go back to listening to Yoko's Screaming, which I'm sure you prefer to this brilliance.
massa!
Why the traffic was normal? o.o

I forgot to mention that I sort of like U2... ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO!
I'm not British so I don't address him as Sir Paul.
