    Great review. Just received my tactical shoulderok. I have been swinging the hydrocore by Onnit for months now and this is a completely different beast! The lever feels phenomenal and I trust Chris to put forth the best products.

      Agreed. I’m a little jealous of your tactical version. I use my Rök everyday and love it

    I enjoy hearing about ways to work out to protect your shoulder- very useful given a history of shoulder injuries

      Very true. It was a drastic turn for my recovery after the shoulderok showed up.

      Easily one of my top 5 training tools. I still swing everyday with it.

    You still into this? Have you checked out Ryan’s stuff from strongergrip? I got a shot loadaable mace from him years ago. Great for the shoulder girdle but a pain to load/de load.

    The threaded portion needs to be a lot longer.

      Some plates are a bit thick limiting the loading options

    I have the shoulderrok. I get alot of nice good quality equipment. And theres always some broke bum who says you can just make one or use this or that. And its never the same. They just say that shit kuz theyll either never be able to afford it or just would rather spend their money on something els and that ok but dnt shit on my parade.

      I agree that it’s frustrating when folks complain about the price and then go to Starbucks for a Frappuccino everyday. It’s a matter of priority. I prioritize quality equipment as well

    Hi! I’m currently a student physical therapist I’m curious what your PT said about the shoulderok. Was she apprehensive at first or did she think it was a good idea from the get go?

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  3 роки тому

      I was about 8 months post surgery when I began using it. She seemed all about it when I explained it to her and showed video. I also seemed to heal pretty well and was making a lot of progress.

      Late to the party, but current shoulder PT patient checking in. I discussed Shoulderok/club/mace mobility work with my PT (multiple at the the clinic, actually). We concluded that - at least in my area - mace training was known about, but really hadn't been discussed as a means of shoulder therapy.
      I sent them some source materials later that day (mostly Duffin's instructional videos and his research work with doctors/PTs), and by the next week the managing partner at the clinic was asking me if I'd tried it out and had any updates.They're cautiously curious about the technique, and I get the sense they're looking to get my feedback as I progress. Think their main concern is the learning curve.
      tl;dr - my PTs didn't shoot it down immediately, but want more info before implementing at their clinic.

      Sounds like you have a great PT! Keep it up!

      @@TheKurtlocker Thanks. I'm still using a boring ol' baseball bat to learn the movements, although I'm seeing more and more people recommend that I need at least 10 lbs at my weight/strength level (6'2", 200 lbs) to actually get anything out of the movement and train it properly. It got me wondering if I'm actually short-circuiting the benefit by just using a 32-oz bat...

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  3 роки тому +1

      The weight being on the end of the mace is fairly important for momentum. I would look at different ways to load the end of the bat instead of just getting a heavier bar

    Do you still use this everyday? What benefits have you noticed? I have one just haven’t been super consistent with it.

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  2 роки тому

      I swing before every overhead or bench session. I notice it helps with overall mobility as well adjust being a solid warmup. Between band work and swinging, I spend about 5-10 minutes warming up.

    Have 9 ft ceilings in my basement. Think could swing this with that ceiling height or is it too long?

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  2 роки тому +1

      I swing in a space with 8’ ceilings so I think you’re good. I’m 5’10”

    Had a severe labrum tear myself and enjoy using this as well.
    I was nervous your daughter was about to steer into your downswing.
    Sign-off seems a bit long and redundant, but that's coming from a guy who doesn't have to come up with these things. So, probably not worth 2c.
    Nice overall review with the added demonstrations.

    How do you like the evolution athletics pants?

      I like them but not for everyday training. I find myself using them most for max effort lower body and strongman training.

      The Kurtlocker awesome thank you! Do you think they are worth the $85?

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  4 роки тому

      I think they are kind of expensive. I neither regret nor am 100% happy with the money I paid. I competed and trained for years in normal shorts...
