Blues Band Shuffle - Freddie King

The range of Texas blues guitar styles, both rural and urban, is captured in this collection of fourteen performances by four legendary Texas bluesmen. Blazing 1991 performances by the great Albert Collins generate a heat which belies his Iceman moniker. Freddie King cooks at a full boil in a 1972 set which includes his signature Blues Band Shuffle. Rare 1960 footage of Lightnin' Hopkins shows how intense the downhome acoustic blues could be. A 1968 performance by Mance Lipscomb traces the blues tradition to its work song taproot with Captain, Captain.

The greatest of the Kings. Oh and I think this King instrumental is called Boogie Funk and his backing band is killer with very interesting orchestration to accompany the virtuoso with both piano and B3 organ beside drums and bass. RIP Freddie, your divine gift will never be forgotten.

Freddy mostly plays great in-the-pocket rhythm guitar and lets the band show off until about the 5 minute mark when he takes of and just wrings out an insane solo. Awesome performance!

HI..Great video at about the 4.00 min. mark..Freddie must have broken a string...thats why the drum solo and he,s using a different axe..the days b4 Guitar techs..the first axe is sitting on the stand ..no ones changing the string.. Love the way he played..Thanks Dave
