      Blehtubezz Aus thank you I was explain this to someone else , but the point flew right over his head , on a stretch it becomes a drag race where unfortunately big power will take the lead or at the very least close whatever gap you opened prior yo that corner, but on the corners that lighter chassis , better grip will haul ass on you on entering and existing those corners resulting in an unexpected gap, some people just don't understand

      @@ericdrisgula3879 turbos give volumetric efficiency - i.e. they effectively increases the theoretical size of the engine using boost.... they use them in f1 and they definitely know about building and tuning real motors.. with built internals, boost from an efficient turbo, and supporting mods you can get a 2.0 turbo to 600bhp, its done often enough its almost a banality, whereas that's practically impossible on a 2.0NA.. heck, getting 300bhp out of a 2.0NA is almost a small miracle..

      +Ivan Nosic, you have to factor in that the Civic's gearbox and gear ratios were very well suited for the low-speed course like Ebisu. The Silvia on the other hand was geared more for a high-speed course.

      F1 cars has turbo in the 80s and they have turbos now. It will help you get out of the tight curves, just a bit of a twitch in the process. Rally cars with Group B and Group A , some of them were fitted with turbos and still good on corners.

    Hero racing cars with a beautiful sunset/sunrise orange sky on a twìsty astroturf tracks with practically nonexistent run off in front of the armco.... ahh this to me is a typical motorsport 90's exhibition 👌

  • @MastersOfMask
    @MastersOfMask 5 років тому

    Now I get this video recommended. Anyways, talk about turbo lag. All that deceleration and acceleration heats up that turbo pretty quick and the intercooler takes a bit to respond in a track that has twisties in a straight 1320 feet is a different story. All motor seem to respond better because it has less heat and no turbo lag because it has no turbo. This videos are very entertaining to watch and educational at the same time. No Wonder why they put V8s in the GTR in the supercars race.

      Ivan Nosic boosting a car is not as easy as it may sound. Yes you more hp per money you spent but to have a reliable and yet responsive boosted engine, it requires lots of time tinkering with the settings and suitable parts.

    Is the old time sequential gearbox require engage clutch to downshift? I see modern race car with sequential gearbox they dont need to do that, only use clutch on static launch.

    • @GOTTHEFUZZ
      @GOTTHEFUZZ 5 років тому +1

      Yeah you pretty much are right.
      New and modern sequential transmission, cut ignition whenever the shifter goes for the next gear. Back then it wasn't as advanced.

  • @chrismackay9268
    @chrismackay9268 5 років тому

    5:12 What happened here, he went off the throttle twice and then pushed the clutch in while upshifting. Could he not get it in gear without the clutch?

    • @fromthegods78
      @fromthegods78 5 років тому +1

      Close. He releases the throttle so there is no load on the gears and they can disengage(they are designed to lock themselves while at load). For some reason he couldn't get it out of gear i guess and had to use the clutch.

  • @johnjackson12

    Surely the 1.6 engine from the Fiesta st deserves an honourable mention? People have pushed over 400bhp on stock internals which is very impressive in my eyes when standard its less than 200.

    • @ITsIMP0RT4NT
      @ITsIMP0RT4NT 8 років тому +3

      And how long did it last? Sure you could get 300K miles out of it if you never take it to the track or run it into boost but if you're a serious competitor you're going to spend more money rebuilding it than if you had just gone with a larger motor & less boost or had just built the engine before extracting big power. Making power is one thing, making power reliably is another.

    • @alamos8
      @alamos8 8 років тому +1

      john jackson Stock internals for 400 bhp on a 1.6? Not even conrods??? Sure??? I doubt so... conrods are the most usual change on turbo engines when pushing them beyond certain point (torque), this is, Stage 3 engines with bigturbo

    • @vtecnegro85
      @vtecnegro85 7 років тому +1

      john jackson so then the sohc and dohc 1.6L from honda deserve mentioning as well. There's 500 plus horsepower b16a engines on stock block and stick port head
