great job thanks taking time only reason to have your own gps its not controlled by company i worked for one company they were messing with gps to trip me up reason if you had problem got ticket lt accident your stuck with that starter company no one else pick you up then they will act cool like ok we will keep you because were cool truck company .example western express one of there low life moves
Someone who is not in the absolute best shape, could they do this job at TMC? The flatbed drivers sure seem like a tuff bunch of guys. I wonder if it would be overwhelming to try and learn truck driving at the same time as load securement...etc. I certainly admire you tuff bastards.
It's not as physically demanding as it looks. It can be harder for people with a "round" belly, but that's because there are loads you'd have to spiderman lol.
I would just say to save some time go and look at the written directions google gives you. save the time of scrolling the map then when you get towards the end you can compare to the directions given and adjust as needed. one advantage of using google over a GPS or at least any GPS I have used. great vid overall. appreciate it
Google Earth is a excellent for roads to a location. Give an air plane view. Very detailed in Sat. Viewing. Look for black marks where semi drive in. 👍
Dude, I used to write the directions on the windshield of my Jeep when I was in the Navy! I thought I was the only one. And, thank you for your service!
Funny you mention the writing on the window... I didn't think about a dry erase, I am the grease pen era! Thats what I have been thinking about, but I like the dry erase better.
I have saved several hundreds of miles with my garmin dezl 1000 in past few months and don’t get into jams like I got into with the trimble. Yeah The Trimble is garbage in my humble opinion. The garmin has paid for itself and making me more money now. And all drivers I have talked to say same thing.
Thank you so much brother I’m going to all help I can get I start with TMC on January 4 2021 thank again I try to look at all your videos I hope I get u as a trainer I live in Lancaster pa but if not u good what u do my brother
@@LawfulGiraffe i will try to explain to my wife i don't mind staying in hotel as long its comfortable i want the best i love your style i'm coming from driving a transit bus in baltimore for 20 years so its going to a littie difference for me
I have always written the Intersections and roads I want to turn at down on a note pad.. Garmin GPS Unitis are robust and durable but pick terrible routes and give terrible Directions.. Rand McNalley picks far better routes and gives far better directions but their hardware is made in China and will break or crash in two months and they don't stand behind their products very well.... I used a Trimble ELD with People Net on it but never saw any GPS on it..
I star TMC on March the 1st I’m nervous but ready for the new journey do you have any advice for me you make it look fun to be out there always positive vibes my friend stay safe
Never take anything to heart. Trucking can have it's moments from traffic, nasty customers, breakdowns, etc. I never let any of it get to me. You have to learn how to roll with it because each week is going to be different.
Another great and helpful video man !!.. it’s still got to be hard to figure all that stuff out.. you guys make it look so easy.. lol.. stay safe out there man...
When you’re trip planning with your students do you incorporate fuel stops, breaks, etc.? I used to back plan, based on appointment time to determine departure time and as a single driver where I had to take my breaks. Thanks man, good job on the videos and the info is well presented.
I know of a few female drivers and I know one female trainer, but that was when I was back in the office. We might have more by now. The one female trainer I know of was running circles around a lot of the guys out here lol.
So far, this is the best video on trip planning.

I teach all my trainees on how to use Google maps for local directions.

And thank you for your service brother. I had a LT tech me that trick.

Oh I 100% agree the tremble sucks. It's only a tool and really comes down to the driver using all tools available.
Great Tuesday Dump video. Very informative for all us newbies getting into trucking. Keep them coming looking forward to the next Tuesday Dump.
I never would of thought to doodle (write directions) on the windshield. good idea.

Thanks man. You can request me but being so from your house I can't promise hometime in training.

It's like dodge ball... if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.
Just graduated from a trucking school. Dealing with some home stuff and surgery but hopefully to be hiring in late spring! Early summer.
Great video and very helpful. I hope to be doing this regularly for TMC soon!!! STAY SAFE!!
Thank you and you too
Thanks for the pointers! Keep’m coming! I appreciate you putting out the great info!!!👍🏼
Thanks brother
LawfulGiraffe I start orientation next Tuesday! 👍🏼

Spot on. I only use trimble when I'm close to customer. To much oor

You'll be fine... just comes with time.

Yea I should have added that to the video. After I trip plan I add two hours for traffic and stops.
does altering the navpro affect out of route?
The navgo doesn't match the dispatch miles. I trip the best route and I never think about oor.
Where's the rookie?
I did this on a Saturday... wasn't about to call him in the sit there and look pretty. Would have stolen the spotlight lol.
@@LawfulGiraffe haha he is kinda pretty ain't he. Jk. Y'all be safe.
Not related to the video and great content by the way....how many females have you seen go through training and are they’re any female trainers?
