I was doubtful l i thought title was clickbait lmao , but indeed it is one of the best historical videos I've ever watched about Liberia! As you said its very hard to find detail info online particularly about the indigenous tribes. Thank you! Lauretta! will definitely watch again and again
Bassa or Basonial- are in 🇨🇲 Cameroon, Freetown, Ivory coast, Nigeria 🇳🇬 last but not LEAST- LIBERIA 🇱🇷- SOUTHERN HISTORY being told orally - well done papay- ❤ This ❤
Yeah bassa are part of kru people same as the Ijaw of nigeria , but the white people call them bantu which doesn’t make sense , bantu is not a tribe i keep telling people. bantu mean black people.
May God bless you Lauretta I see one day you will go far with this in Jesus name , and become rich and will be number one of a Liberian UA-camr . In a few years you’ll be traveling
Thanks a million for such an intresting video filled with pieces of information we don't have . I suggest you do such for all counties especially bordering counties.
Ms Lauretta, that bit of history is amazing 😍. But it's replicated across Africa and we blame it on former colonial powers who out of greed or something made arbitrary boundaries and literally separated communities. In Eastern Africa for example we have Teso ethnic group who are in western Kenya 🇰🇪 and eastern Uganda 🇺🇬, Borana of northern Kenya 🇰🇪 and southern Ethiopia 🇪🇹, Maasai of South Western Kenya 🇰🇪 and north eastern Tanzania 🇹🇿 etcetera etcetera. You see, we blame colonial powers and their scramble for Africa towards the end of nineteenth century (1880s). Watching from Kenya 🇰🇪 East Africa 🌍.
Grebo is not a tribe. Kwa is the ethnic group that the Dutch referred to as Crew now refer to as Kru. Which is a continuation of dialects. For the sake of argument, who the dutch placed into a sub-ethnic group: grebo called themselves Kruman, bete in ivory cost (which is a german word and the actual pronunciation is Glepo ) Klao who called themselves Kru in Liberia, Weh called themselves Krahn in Liberia, Guere, Bassa, Sapo, etc. I will caution people on speaking on things they do not have full understanding of because you can give misinformation about something and really make yourself look silly. I know this because I am fully Kru and have been studying this very hard and asking friends and family members for answers as well.
Nope that was not the reason why they ended slavery. No man who is enslave you can free you. America at that time waa going into their industrial era. Please their is more to putting the end to charter slavery then Haiti.
The Glebo people are the children of Wehyon/krahn people. I heard similar story from the kroumen (ivorian grebo people) these are the people who left their clan and created a new tribes/clans. I am a gborho/gborbo from suakein grand gedeh County and I can assure you that his narrative of the historical accounts were not far from the truth.
Hello brother..I was thinking the same, the way he prounounce "grebo" is how we say it in Krahn as well that is a krahn sub group, I am Bohbo so I feel like he is talking about bohbo pepole from grandgedeh, This is one of the best historical videos I've ever seen about liberian and specifically about the bohbo or pepole of grand gedeh! My ancestors Thank you @LaurettaBiraneCisse!!!
@@manolo5042 Thank you brother and thanks to the sister for the job that she's doing we must appreciate her work by subscribing to her channel. But yes, we also must make a change, krahn is not a word that exist within our various dialects. We are wehyon from ivory coast to Liberia. Liberian history need to be reviewed and revised.
It’s a beautiful land , hope to visit one day soon. Hope I can meet this man , Yah (God ) blessed y’all . 🫶🏾🙏🏾 So it was the oppressors that name the land . The land was always there, he discovered it for himself. A lot of different malansted people chose death 💀 over slavery

What is your suggestion for narrating the countries history? Are there text that can be used as references other than speaking to the elders?
