Love it when the commentators knows about the location than the State Inspectors. I don't feel sorry for anyone there. They bought the property without doing the research of the location. That's the reason Ala Moana Shopping Center used to flood. Redirected rain flow, and high tides. Water has to go somewhere.
It's not the ocean that brought the water, but the mountain. This area is a natural wash though. Kihei gets it every few years, same spots over-and-over.
@@SaintSean I know it comes down from the mountain. (My error for not say that also.)Still all that land is filled for the purpose of building. Too close to the ocean. Gotta know Kihei to know where to live, or even buy. A lot of people come and buy, oh looks nice by the ocean, then look what happens. Ok nuff said. At least….
@rosemarierosemari I agree. The developer probably got the land cheaper because locals always knew this was the flood zone. Now these people who didn't know better, lost their home and insurance isn't covering. Sad.
@@SeanD808Keith should have been fired for that billion dollar waste but best can do is try to get Gov Green out for appointing him and the legislators who gave him a raise afterwards.
If this water crossed State land and flooded their home, they should contact an atty. The private land owners and the State can be sued if they did not clean debris on their properties, especially if it’s from an auwai or water ditch causing catastrophic flooding below.
You better have the property inspected for defective construction by the original contractor. It happens by shoddy guys who claim they will give you a good deal!
It also has to do with delinquent homeowners throwing their debri in the gulch. I live next door to one of those people. He is also propigating Wattle and refuses to listen and learn from his local neighbors. His debri flooded out a womens garage and lower living area of her home. This was not the first time. These folks should have to pay a heavy fine
That is because Kihei on the south side of Piiland Hwy is Man Made.
What?!?
Insurance, what a friggin sinister scam on the people
That whole area used to be a marsh that acted as a debris filter. The county knows this but they haven’t done a thing to fix the problem.
Cane fields are gone. All that is left is dirt. Down comes the mud.
Proper drainage is more important than most people think.

Da wha you get! Not supposed to live so close to da ocean. All filled in land for building purposes! Eventually they gonna collapse!

One more reason why 514B has got.to.GO!
Wow!
Mortgages for Maui disasters should be forgiven
More mismanagement like the fires
Or the illegal round-a-bout substitution for an underpass or overpass... Shame on the DOE!

Why people have to build houses or apartment so close to the beach? minimum distance to the beach/sand should be at least 500 feet.

And the county
Yeah sue everyone! American culture at its finest
-Don't worry... Governor Greene will save you!
What Happens when you build in a total, Marsh swamp wetlands and pretend like it doesn’t exist… then the ocean starts to rise…
“Directed”? Come on. Water follows the path with least resistance

Even some long time contractors here that charge top rates still sub it out and do a terrible job, such a Will Riedel

All these buildings built on greed
Poopy water
