Joe, a way that I have made natural raised beds when I didn't have logs or wood, was to bundle lots and lots of twigs and small branches, tied up into long sausages. Kind of like a thatch roll, stacked two on top of each other and secured with a stick driven through them into the ground. They rot after a while, but hold the soil in for a growing season, and good drainage in a rainy place. ❤

You're wasting a ton of energy Joe. When swinging the axe hold your right hand up by the head, raise it and as you swing slide your right hand down the shaft to meet your left at the bottom. Easier and generates more force too.

Ouchy tomatoe king that looked painful mate, would definitely look at hiring a chipper and making some wood chips for your walkways next

That was hard graft. I was gritting my teeth throughout. You've made great progress. You'll get plenty plants in there. That blister looks sore. I hope you make time to rest too. Take good care 👍

Hell of a job Joe , 1sr raised bed looks great ! But please wear safety glasses , a wood splinter on the eye ball will be more painful than that blister , from a man that knows !

You've done a great job on the planter buddy. Maybe you could line the inside with sticks vertically to reinforce it? Don't forget to start your firewood pile early with your offcuts. Can't hurt to have a supply if you need it come winter, even just for a fire pit to keep warm. You won't have a supply issue but stocking up while the weather is good is better than finding it damp on the cold winter days. Keep your chin up, can't wait to see more
