I wonder what you think about K2 to make sure the Calcium goes to the bones instead of deposited in artery's and other unwanted areas of the body? The only foods with the best form of K2 (mk7) is from fermented foods, especially natto but not all vegans eat fermented foods? I started taking a small amount 100mcg of K2 (mk7) with my vitamin D3 to be on the safe side.
This channel is a vegan loving channel. I intentionally eat some cheese and salmon for the A+D+K2 trifecta, and some onions for the onion trace compounds.
that's because leafy greens tend to be low in calcium. It's sad to see dr greger give a list low in calcium - what's his source? Truth is it's leafy herbs like basil, marjoram, savory, thyme, dill, etc. and the highest food are grasses - barley grass followed by wheat and alfalfa.
@@tonycollyweston6182 why not just eat what naturally has a lot of calcium - like chia and sesame? Put sesame milk into chia pudding and add some poppy seeds on top - instant calcium load!
calcium's only bad for the heart if it's put there with cholesterol keeping it there as well as damaging the lining with a lack of nitric oxide. It's not a problem if it doesn't get there. Water !!! In Belgium and France, we have "Contrex" and "Hépar" that are really high in naturally present calcium. Contrex has 468Mg/L !! A few years ago, a study showed that calcium from water is perfectly absorbed; coincidentally, contrex began to advertise their calcium content "wow, some people drink water only for hydration" "what is best about this water is what you don't see". Most waters don't have that amount, so it is necessary to check the labels. Even tap water has calcium sometimes !
Vitamin K plays an important role in bone health. Low vitamin K intake, low serum vitamin K values, and high levels of ucOC are associated with risk of fracture (especially hip fracture) in observational studies.
I am a vegan and I think most vegans do not consume enough Vitamin K2 which is a key nutrient that encourages calcium to be deposited in the bones and teeth rather than in soft tissue. The only vegan food I know of that is high in K2 is natto which I consume daily along with calcium fortified plant milk and calcium fortified OJ. Eating natto is my suggestion to end this vegan bone density issue.
Yes, same here. There are more options like raw sauerkraut, unpasteurized kombucha, and vegan kimchi. On top of that, eating fermented foods can also boost the number of beneficial bacteria, or probiotics, in our gut.
I eat it daily. Why does no vegan talk about this when they bring up calcium? This is why I believe vegans have higher fracture risks. Until we discuss barley grass wen we have calcium discussions we're going to get nowhere.
