Press and HOLD your NB on the ICOM, adjust the width and depth of your NB to get rid of the poping noise.

johnnieace45 And push the NR button as well & adjust it as needed. He should first learn too operate the gear before making head to head comparisons.

Good demo. The guys that make the RGO One, are modeling their NB after TenTec.

Dam Ten Tec is best dam small/portable/desktop/mobile/u-name-it rig available.. USA made.. works baayutiful! Also, that NB button has TWO levels, press again and reduction increases. He didn't go that far, didn't NEED TO. .. Another thing, on left of tuning knob is the NR, noise reduction button. That turns 80M hell noise into all night QSO parties. Insanely effective eliminating general band noise. Just GET Ten Tec .

Nice Video, TenTec Eagle has a superior NB. I have the Argonaut VI and its rcvr is excellent also.

Filter bandwidth on the Icom was 3KHZ and 2 KHZ on the Ten Tec. Big difference and perhaps you should redo the test using identical parameters on each radio.

Thank a lot for the nice video.
It would be very interesting to hear the RF control and IF filters of Tentec Eagle in action. What roofing filters are installed on your Eagle?
I hope to see another nice video in the future.
    Well done, David !!!

Well being a Proud ICOM 7600 owner & user as well I noticed that you did NOT even have the NR button pressed which turns ON the DSP in the 7600.Why was that? I know the NB is adjustable by holding down the button until the adjustment menu pops up but you would have removed most all if not all of the noise with the NR button. Not using the tools that are there does not make sense to me but maybe you don't understand the operation of the ICOM 7600 or had not learned proper operation before making this video? After pressing the NR button you could have adjusted the NR knob just above the button & the noise would would have disappeared.Maybe by now you have had some on the air time with the radio & learned that it has an Awesome DSP system noises like the one in the video are no match for the system. Thanks for sharing the video though it has some serious faults seeing that all of the tools in the 7600 were not used in showing how well the transceiver works. de W4KVW

I watched ur video and thought if it worked for u why not me, so I bought it. ur bargraph noise level is actually higher than mine and when you turn on the noise blanker it goes down to the level on my bargraph but I cant hear any noise from yours. now with my bargraph reading the same as yours. hw come I hear more noise coming from my radio than I do yours, something is odd hear. maybe ur camera mic is not close enough to the rig. very strange. the only thing that wrks for me is my DSP 9. 73

I went to Tentec and investigated this unit close. What you are hearing is the the Audio DSP, it is not actually removing the static like the ICOM but the DSP works well. I added a ClearSpeech module in line to my IC speaker. Now I use both and is clerly superior to the Eagle. By the way, you might want to try an MFJ-1026 signal enhancer to null out that static instead of trying to only mitigate it at the radio.

johnnieace45 I also use a ClearSpeech DSP Module on all of my radios including the ICOM 7600 & it makes more of a difference on some more than others. The 7600 is VERY VERY quiet already & the additional DSP unit just makes an AWESOME Transceiver even more AWESOME! By far the best transceiver I've ever owned or operated & after just one week I know I am a Blessed Man having the ICOM 7600 in my shack as my own along with the ICOM PW-1 amplifier it's a Killer Combination for sure! de W4KVW {:>)

If you use the rest of the Noise Reduction features in the ICOM 7600 you would have removed equally or more of the noise but you did not for some reason? Maybe you should learn to use the radio before doing a head to head comparison. You give a false impression of the gear which is unfair to those watching who don’t know any better and that’s Sad.

Tom Gee He did NOT have the NR button pushed for some strange reason on the ICOM 7600? That noise would have disappeared had it been depressed & adjusted properly. His side by side comparison is very biased when all of the tools that a radio has are not utilized but it appears he does not know how too operate the filtering on the 7600?
