What a debut For Juan Soto 🤯🔥
Volpe working the count was a big win to me, imagine what a force he could be if he gets more discipline and starts getting on base more. The speed is there, the defense is there, the power is there. He's still really young, Volpe with a high OBP is a damn good player.

@@thehiddendriveit’s a massive leap in the right direction. We’re gonna roll out old man LeMahieu to the start of the lineup when he gets back. Volpe needs to show that he can step into that roll and to do that, he needs his OBP wayyyyy up. Who cares that they’re walks? The kids gets the f on base and will make the pitcher fear his run game.
Padres fan here. Soto looks a LOT more serious about winning with the Yankees vs Padres.
For sure he was pumped today first one out the dugout when they took the lead in 7th on a new team too !

I was a little concerned seeing him hit low 90s on the sinker, I couldn't watch the game, just keeping up on game cast. So I could have been missing something. But he used to be consistently 95-99 with the sinker.

Like I said going into this season Volpe is going to improve. I like what I saw from him. Soto what can we say he's worth every dime he's getting and going to get cough extension cough.

What a freaking game man. First one of the season too. It looks like we have a team. Nestor gave up a few runs early but recovered, and his offense took over. Looking forward to the news 161 games + the playoffs. My god.
I must say that i loved the energy Soto & Verdugo brought to this game. We didn't have that last year. On a different note, it sounded like that ball hit Rizzo's bat more than anything, but i aint complaining 😅

There is something different about this years team. The energy Verdugo & Soto bring to the team is super positive. You can see it. The young guys are a year older & more confident. Rizzo is back and looking strong. Judge looks relaxed & like hes having fun. Like he knows the game isnt on his shoulders every day. If the pitching holds up...- Clay Holmes cant be giving everyone heart attacks every game...This team could be special.
This teams lineup is the real deal, if we can get a surprise out of one our starters before cole returns we will be up so good.

The 4am start meant I saw only from Nestor's fifth dig on. Really loved the way we fought with the bats today. Seven starters got hits and all nine got on base. Says it all - classic Yankees grit. I love it.

HOLY MACKEREL WHAT A HELLUVA WIN THIS WAS. To beat these guys in Houston which has been a house of horrors for years for us I just can't say enough of what a conference builder this is beating these guys. Maybe the tide has turned and if we have to beat them in the playoffs we can do it. I'm really proud they came back down 4-0 what a win.

The new additions both chipped in big. Soto and Verdugo had nice defensive plays today. Helluva debut.
Obviously it's the season opener only 1 game but My biggest takeaway from today: our discipline at the plate was excellent. Volpe showed that every at bat. We had bases loaded several times and were consistently putting runners on base. Just imagine if we would've capitalized instead of grounding into double plays. Excited to see what this roster is capable of. So much potential.
Gotta love Soto's fire 1 game win in Houston hell yeah

Working counts, getting walks, base hits, good defense, an amped up Soto.. I havent been very optimistic about a season the last few years but this one, this one has me a little excited. First game of the season against Houston and getting the W is a great way to start. Let's go Yanks.
Juan Soto is gonna be a beast not only hitting at Yankee stadiums short porch but hes gonna throw alot of guys out at home from right field. His energy along with Judge is tremendous
To feel the entire intensity of this game you had to watch the whole thing.. it was a rollercoaster felt like a post season game except we won. More to come
