Look what you did. You just caused a massive wave of nostalgia to hit me. Back in middle school, I sang this with a partner as a duet in a talent show. Despite doing our best, we came out in fourth. Good times though!
This song is about a woman grieving over her dead husband. Notice how the woman’s voice in the beginning sound kind of scared, and the man’s voice is calming. (Thanks for the likes btw)
You can interpret however you want. But, I always thought it was about a girl who has PTSD and so she hallucinates and heard things. She is also depressed. And, her husband tries to calm her down. And, at the end, she kills herself.
I interpret It as a women who is depressed and her boyfriend is trying to help her but she keeps saying she's fine to everyone but him wich is were the "don't listen to a word I say" comes in
I always think of it as a girl who's boyfriend passed away, and she's starting to be suicidal. And he wants to be with her again, but he doesn't want her to kill herself. And then I always think at the end they reunite, because she did end up killing herself.
I've interpreted this as an elderly couple and the woman is suffering from Alzheimer's/demetia and her husband is trying to calm her down and tell her it's gonna be ok. The "ghost of her" is her mind and well being. The husband is losing his wife but the part that he loves is fading and he's trying to tell her to wait at the end but she's saying let me go at the end.
I love the meaning of this song. The way I interpret it is a lady lost the love of her life and can still hear his voice. I feel as if she wants to die too so she can see him again and she hears these voices telling her to do it so they can see each other again. These voices sound like the husbands voice and is trying to trick her. But the real husbands voice is telling her to not listen to the other voices and stay alive. Hence “Don’t listen to a word I say. The screams all sounds the same”
“Just let me go, we’ll meet again soon” these were the words my best friend said right before i was about to leave his home in Ukraine 2 years ago. They say it is about a wife who’s husband died, and she goes in their house pretending they still can talk. That is why the male voice responds to her after each line of the song.
I'm struggling with mental illness (depression, derealization, depersonalization) and this song speaks to me. Both in the way that it describes my experiences and because it tells me I can trust my body to carry me through any hardships.

this reminds me of when i was happy. me and my best friends coming home from the beach, blasting this song, with no worries, the windows open. our hair crunchy from the salt water but blowing in the wind. knowing that when we get home we’re going to have craft mac and cheese and watch goosebumps. and we’re all happy with no problems. now there’s tension because they’re kinda homophobic and i’m bi. and obviously we can’t have the pure bliss of when we were younger. and i haven’t seen them in such a long time because of self isolation. i miss 2016.
I found this song after I had learned that my boyfriend died in a car crash from a drunk driven while coming home from Hawaii and I thought he was talking to me through the lyrics. It was around a year ago. Jake, I know that you’re watching over me, and I love you and miss you more everyday.

Every time I listen to this song, I just think about my dog... "The screams all sound the same" He's not dead, but his charm is trying to disappear, the charm that makes him special for me. He's a strong boy, but one day he'll be gone. "We used to play outside when we were young" I remember when he loved playing with everything, now he just can't stand up off his bed. This song makes me think about all these little things, and it makes me sad and happy to remember all we've lived together. PD: It's kinda hard to express all the things I want to say, but sadly I can't find the exact words.
I thought about my dog too, after listening to the lyrics this time. her name was bella and she passed away in June. I had her since I was 3 and she was my best friend. I miss her a lot and I dream about her all the time, so the part saying "I'll see you when I fall asleep" hit really hard
@@lexigriffin5347 Stay strong!❤ I know it is difficult because I am experiencing the loss of my dog too. He passed away exactly one month ago and I miss him so much. We were together for 15 years; he became a member of our family when I was 1. We were best friends and he was always by my side through the years. I used to spend so much time with him. And when I was not well enough to play , he would always listen to me talking or crying even though he couln't talk. He got me through my parents' divorce and many more difficulties. I really miss him and I hope that maybe one day I could see him again❤. This song reminds me of him and makes my eyes fill with tears one more time.

This reminds me of when I was little and my mom would be driving me around to any place and I would be so carefree about the future. It was just that moment of me and my mom singing along to the song. My mom passed away a year ago because of smoking. I miss those days.
This song comes every single night at the soft rock radio station in my city, and every time I hear it I feel nostalgic and miss my brother even tho we live together lmao
i dont even know what made this but memories just hit me like a truck. at a retreat i went on, we were on a sand dune at a beach and the sky was a purple sort of orange and yellow.. the water was beautiful. :') my friend that was with me died last year.

Rest in peace omg_its_quackity And a lot of other people who took their lifes. 🕯️🕯️🕯️ (I actually just found out that literallyinnit faked his/her dead, so there's no more o7 for that kind of person)
So yesterday, I told Alexa to play this song in me and my sisters room. So, when my sister heard the beginning, she started dancing, when I told her about how the song is about a wife grieving her dead husband, she started dancing slower with a look of, "Oh..." on her face- She didn't know this song, now she does-
3:42 "So, However painful and tragic the end of the story became to. Now you know that once upon a time, In the same room, Of the same house, Fifty years apart.. "Clay and george Davidson have loved each other" "
I have looked for this song forever! It makes me feel happier than the current struggles and issues with our world today. When I hear it, it's like a fairytale! The curse brung among a princess, lifted! It makes my heart warm with my childhood and how innocent I was, now, I desperately want that back again..
Me too. For some reason when i hear this song i think of IKEA lol. Its probably because back in the day i used to hear this over the speakers in IKEA. Not to mention on litarly every radio station. God this song brings back memories.
Sometimes when my mum has the radio on this song plays and I time waking up with it and it makes waking up feel good. That's what I think of. I like dsmp but sometimes they're everywhere and it's a bit like you cant escape them.
The tik tok version of this song makes me cry especially the videos about suicide I feel I can relate but I don’t wanna do it cause my bff is going through so much I’m the only one she talks to about it what would she do without me? But I want to leave this cruel earth at the same time for now though I’ll keep going for her. Sorry for venting
it hits hard when you have to watch the only person that ever managed to maintain a strong emotional connection with you, a rather emotionally distant and detached person, move away, missing the little talks you had when you walked her back home.
How many of us searched “don’t listen to a word I say?” Edit: With all these people commenting on what they searched for, I have come to realize how strangely dark this song is lol.

@@irenesouvatz1935 I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! I'm so glad you had 15 years with your best friend and that he was always there for you. the bond with an animal especially a dog is so powerful it cannot be explained. I hope you're doing well! stay strong❤
"I'll see you when I fall asleep"...
God damn that line is so powerful, makes me tear up every time.
This reminds me of when I was little and my mom would be driving me around to any place and I would be so carefree about the future. It was just that moment of me and my mom singing along to the song. My mom passed away a year ago because of smoking. I miss those days.
Im so sorry. May she rest in peace
rip dont worry i got u bro if u ever need help just call me
Omg I'm sooo sorry for your loss♡
Hope you feel better about it^-^
I’m happy that people are finding all the nostalgic songs I like. It feels like they’re all being revived
All these comments... I’m so sorry
Im so sorry to hear that and I’m hoping that your going okay
I'm very sorry for your loss. May they rest in peace. My sincerest condolences go out to their family and friends. I hope you all find peace and closure. God bless you.

"Goodnight, Wrong Number." "Goodnight, Oldman." 50 years apart, in the same house, in the same room, clay and George Davidson had loved each other.
Im kinda hurt
😭 I'm crying again
:,(
NOOOO FUQ OFF
MY HEART HURTS STOP😭
So yesterday, I told Alexa to play this song in me and my sisters room. So, when my sister heard the beginning, she started dancing, when I told her about how the song is about a wife grieving her dead husband, she started dancing slower with a look of, "Oh..." on her face-
She didn't know this song, now she does-
WHAT?!
i used to love this song bc of the bgm and the singing, but now it’s actually relatable and i love it more
"My heart couldn't be in 2020 when it belongs in 1970"
Hey bestie I can't do this today
Bestie no 😭
“Take care of those flowers wrong number”
I SWEAR IF I SEE ONE MORE COMMENT ABOUT THIS-
Bestie why i just stopped crying over itt
If u dont remeber this song from childhood, U Never actually had one
r/Gatekeeping
Haha, very funny.
Some people could've been born where this song never existed, or when the song was on tiktok, and they liked it.
Now shut up.
Wait what about those who are still in childhood? Surely they don't remember.
me an indian: bruh
it's a joke jtbhrfnejcmdx
“We used to play outside when we young, and full of life and full of love.” Nostalgia in a sentence.
It sounds to me like a husband dealing with his wife mental illness, but we see both, husband and wife's perspective. It's brilliantly written.
According to another commenter, it's supposed to be a wife speaking with a dead husband
Reminds me of how I feel when battling depression
This reminds me of my Great grandma, and how calming she was. She always had the best advice.... RIP Gram, I love you so much.
Head up ❤🙏

3:42 "So, However painful and tragic the end of the story became to. Now you know that once upon a time,
In the same room,
Of the same house,
Fifty years apart..
"Clay and george Davidson have loved each other" "
What is that from?
@Quackity Needs_help Oh okay
Why do you have to do this to me? 🥺
@clockwork it's flowers from 1970 by Astr0nomika
I have looked for this song forever! It makes me feel happier than the current struggles and issues with our world today. When I hear it, it's like a fairytale!
The curse brung among a princess, lifted! It makes my heart warm with my childhood and how innocent I was, now, I desperately want that back again..
RIP Technoblade, if I ever learn to draw, I'll draw something with this as a tribute for you
Y'all remember Subway Surfers and Dragon Slayer?
Omg yea😭😭❤️
Most people played subway surfers and still do
I remember dragon slayer... Thanks for the nostalgia

Omg yes 😞
OMG Subway surfers-
Proof that once upon a time, in 1970, George Davidson, a man who didn’t even exist yet, had loved me.

i didnt expect to see this comment. why pls

The amount of dream smp related stuff concerns me, most people though know this from either their childhood or everyday commuting. Miss those days
Me too. For some reason when i hear this song i think of IKEA lol. Its probably because back in the day i used to hear this over the speakers in IKEA. Not to mention on litarly every radio station. God this song brings back memories.
Ikr.. I like dream smp but I mean your right I loved this song when I was younger
Sometimes when my mum has the radio on this song plays and I time waking up with it and it makes waking up feel good. That's what I think of. I like dsmp but sometimes they're everywhere and it's a bit like you cant escape them.
most of us in the fandom fond it long ago i think its the younger part of the fandom
???
One of the greatest duet songs ever, and probably the best duet song to ever come out of Iceland! 🇮🇸🎶
I actually lived in Iceland back in the 80's. My dad was in the US Air Force and was stationed there.

The tik tok version of this song makes me cry especially the videos about suicide I feel I can relate but I don’t wanna do it cause my bff is going through so much I’m the only one she talks to about it what would she do without me? But I want to leave this cruel earth at the same time for now though I’ll keep going for her.
Sorry for venting

i am so sorry me too
it hits hard when you have to watch the only person that ever managed to maintain a strong emotional connection with you, a rather emotionally distant and detached person, move away, missing the little talks you had when you walked her back home.
Me five years ago vibing to this song because it's catchy.
Me now understanding the lyrics and crying because I'm depressed
Fucking same
Nostalgia at its peak right now
I havent heard this song in 7 years! 😀 glad to hear it again

@@rraiindropp. Its from a fanfiction on wattpad. It called Flowers From 1970. Its kinda sad but i really recommend it, its really good. Even tho if you are not in the Dream smp fandom or dont ship Dream and George you can still read it. It has like almost nothing to do with them
Thank you for your help !!!
To those here from TikTok, please listen to the rest of the song too, it really is beautiful, but here's the timestamp for the lines your looking for:
