I bought a Haworthia Truncata and a Haworthia springbokvlakensis to start my collection. They just arrived today! I'll try my best to keep them as well as yours!
Beautiful looking plants, I have a fair few Haworthia but nowhere near this many haha. They are my favourite succulent. Thank you for sharing your amazing collection with us 👍🏻🌵☀️
Thank you! Yes, the amazing part about haworthia is, a lot of varieties have seasonal changes! It is awesome to see them change from one color to another! I'm glad you enjoyed this collection and again, thanks for watching!
Mind blowing! Kudus to you. My only remark is that I would not mix them in the same manner You do. I would join similar types and not mix them, but surely have a reason for your arrangement. Most impressive collection !
Haha, you've got good taste! That is a rare mutant called 'Bullet'. Unlike the atrofusca mutant, Bullet is not shiny and this variety is much smaller, more compact and has frosty and pointed leaves.
Please make a video on your soil mix for haworthia..and the fertilizers you use. Would be helpful if you could put the plant names along as you show the plants.
Hi! Soil mix is tricky because it should be custom made according to the grower's region. Humidity, temperature, air flow etc. all play a major role in the substrate. I fine tuned my mix several times over the year to achieve the mix that is ideal for my growing condition. Believe me, replacing soil for over 450 plants is hell and I did it 3 times, LOL! Just experiment, you will find the perfect mix for your own growing condition. Mine consists of perlite, c/s soil mix, pumice, lava rocks, charcoal and kanuma.
With my observation, they prefer cool night time temperatures and warmer day time temperatures. This is easy to achieve where I am because we have cool nights. I also have a fan that comes on overnight to further drop the temp by a couple of degrees and also keeps the air circulation. The movement of air is important because they are indoors.
Hi, I actually have quite a few sizes of pots in the video. They range from 2 in x 2 in x 3 in all the way to 4 in x 4 in x 5.5in. I think 6 different sizes in total, with different depths too according to the plants' root systems.
Maybe because we have very dry air in Canada, I find that I have to water them every 4 to 5 days. I have a fan on overnight, that could contribute to the fast dry out too. My rule of thumb is, when the pot feels light and 'hollow', that's when I water. The top dressing also serves as an indicator because the volcano rock tends to have a pale color when dry and a darker color when moist. Haworthia don't like a prolong period of direct sunlight. My collection get the morning sun, then the artificial lights come on in the afternoon and goes off at midnight. Then the fan comes on and off at 6am.
This is not only an impressive collection but so many of them seem so healthy! It's almost a shame that nobody in Canada is able or willing to produce haworthias on a large scale. That would be my dream but not enough space to do that. Is there any websites that you recommend to look for orders overseas?
I do have a couple of nurseries that I buy from but unfortunately, you kind of need to be able to read Chinese characters to navigate their listings because they are in Taiwan. There is one called Sunlove Haworthia who is affiliated with Japan's nurseries and auctions so I am able to purchase Japanese haworthia as well.
Amazing Collection! Very Impressing ;-) I only have few common haworthia, I never knew there are so many varieties. Question: Sometimes my haworthia kind change color to light brown, they are not exposed to full sun. How can I get those windows to show? And should I bottom water or topwater, does it have a difference? I think I have cooperi and retusa;-) Thanks
Hi green leaves, light brown is a sure sign that the plants are getting too much light. Some haworthia are very sensitive to bright light because in their natural habitat, they are grown underneath other bigger plants and as such, prefer shades. Just move them to a shady place and in time, they will change back to green, if that's the color you prefer. I top water all my plants, mainly because of the method I lay out my medium. I use mini clay balls at the very bottom and unlike soil, they don't wick up any water so bottom water doesn't work but I do have friends who bottom water and I think both ways are fine. If you want the cooperi windows to be plump and shiny, I find that humidity, air circulation and daytime/nighttime temperature differences all play a major roll. Play around with these 3 factors. I live in Canada and our winter is very dry, so my cooperi are challenging to keep pretty, lol. They tend to be at their nicest in spring and fall. I hope this is helpful and once again, thank you for watching my video!
My first haworthia was purchased on September 1st, 2017 so a little over 2 years. I bought about 20 plants at that time and there was no turning back, LOL!
@@JTCHaworthiaCollections you have a lot of haworthias!😂👌I have about 10 varieties, cacti, succulents etc. My favourite haworthia is obesa. It's a green gem💎😍

I use a Sunblaster LED strip lights. Tell your wife, without artificial lights in the winter, your plants won't make it through and you will have to keep replacing your plants, which will costs more at the end! :)
Hi, I am in Canada. It has been 2 years since I filmed the video you just watched. I now have quite a few pups from my rare variegated varieties. My collection is all vegetative, not tissue cultured and that's why they are so precious to me. I am not a seller, mainly because we don't have a very reliable postal service. It is slightly risky to put a variegated maughanii in the mail. I am lucky to have known a few very trustworthy and professional haworthia breeders in Japan, Korea and Taiwan and to that, I am so thankful to have the collection that I have now.
Hi! They do get some sun in the morning, not direct sun but through a huge south facing window. The majority of the light source comes from full spectrum LED lights, which stay on for 12 hours a day.
Hi Jero, it depends on the season. Since I live in Canada, they are under growlights for 14 hours a day in winter and about 8 hours in summer. They are located near a large southern window so I am able to save a few hours in the summer because our daylights are long.
@@JTCHaworthiaCollections Thank you so much for your answer! I just started my little collection, I hope to someday have as many beautiful haworthias as you have

@@HexYzeE Since the light is stationary, I have decided to set it about 10 inches from the plants. The problem is, each plant will react differently so this is actually the area I've spent the most time on. I observed every plant, did a lot of moving them around until EACH plant is happy with the amount of light it's getting. The advantage of getting a strip light is that it offers a big canopy, therefore, allowing you to place light loving ones right underneath and light sensitive ones further away. A lot of observation is required but at the end, I'm able to bring out the best colors possible from each and every plant.
Hi! 0:40 is a pygmaea hybrid called "Lovely Peach", a Taiwanese cultivar.
