Yes but only on the XPS models with a supported Dell Dock. Typically though I don't even have to do that, as plugging in the cable to a dock seems to boot it up and if it's asleep moving the mouse attached to the dock wakes it.
Very quiet if not totally silent during normal office use like zoom, video, etc. Only time I've had the fan become notable is very briefly during temporary high CPU usage or when of course doing anything more intensive like photo/video editing. That only thing related to zoom that I've seen with a co-worker who has the same laptop is the "clicks" on the trackpad get picked up by the onboard mic.
That makes sense then, it's actually connected up to my company network so fingerprint reader is disabled which is probably why I assumed it didn't have one.
I rendered a 30 minute 4k file, took about 17 minutes. Video Encode on the 3050 Ti ran at 100% used 17% of the CPU and 10GB of RAM. GPU got to 75C, this is on my desk with the lid shut, using the dock, seemed to handle just fine, than fans kicked in and the GPU settled around 71-72C. This is with a i7-11800H 64GB RAM and a 3050Ti
@@elma209 The editing of 4k seemed just fine to me, I don't do a bunch of video editing but I have not had any issues with it editing 4k files in testing. If you need it for video and photo editing just be sure to get the one with the dedicated graphics card, if you just like the design and want it for everyday use any of the XPS 15 should work very well.
I am using it for work, photo and video editing and it seems to run great for that, I have not tried it with anything more intensive. Are you having an specific concern with it?
For how long you are using this laptop? As I have seen a Dell XPS 13 new version review where it keep gerting freeze. What about the mouse trackpad? Is the issue sorted out?
@@Techtipguru could you please let me know it is worth buying the high end option of dell Xps 15 9520 in £3300 becuase you get the same specs in HP envy 15 ep 1002 in £1000 less ?
@@duckyop8610 I have not looked into the HP envy much, if I get a chance I can but I would first check if the HP Envy is refurbished, that can usually knock of some cost. If the specs are the same and that is your primary need I'd save the money. The Dell XPS is their premium product, so much like a MacBook you pay a premium for the build over the specs. If you want the seamless experience I have in the video with the Dell XPS and the Dell Thunderbolt dock it may be worth it. If you are just looking for a high end laptop on it's own the HP Envy may be just fine for you.
Have you tried apple monitor for display
I have not used an apple monitor but I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be able to output to an apple monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort.
Can you turn on your XPS with the power button on the dock? Is it possible to turn it on without opening(not using the power button) XPS?
Yes but only on the XPS models with a supported Dell Dock. Typically though I don't even have to do that, as plugging in the cable to a dock seems to boot it up and if it's asleep moving the mouse attached to the dock wakes it.
How is the fan noise for regular use like office, UA-cam, teams, Zoom etc?

Bruv, it is not labeled because there is a fingerprint reader in it.

Thanks for the review! Can you please let us know if it overheats editing 4k?

I have been using it daily for just over a month. I have not had any freezing issues. What was the issue with the mouse trackpad?

@@duckyop8610 I haven't had that issue, the track pad is sensitive so if you tap it, it will click but nothing that is glitchy.
