She is the purest lady in the film with Edna of course. The doctor's lady is the DEVIL with him too..Poor Christiane. She is disfigured so horribly and so sad even if we never see her face ,except a short second..It is better this way.She expresses so many feelings, despair, sadness and angerness with her eyes that seeing her face is unnecessary..The face of the doctor is more horrible in a way.He is a MURDERER.
This is not only a true MASTERPIECE but also the proof that cinema could be also art. This is one of my favorite horror movies along George Romero´s Dawn of the dead, the first two Aliens and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
A true masterpiece, a genuine piece of art! The director was a true pioneer as Verne: 50 years before the first operation, he showed the first human face transplant.
This film is almost noir-like with its strong blacks and stark whites. Its a strange mix of Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera and a fairytale. Maurice Jarre's carnival-like music also plays an important part in contrasting with the horrific and poignant. I wish Georges Franju had made more films like this.
+SamLloydPresents I think this is why modern horror is so off-the-track. The modern horrors have no contrast. They offer no hope. No option to the conflict. They prey solely on the audience's "expected dread" without intrinsic provision by the story.
I've watched this film a few times and have always found that the contrast between the horror-based cinematography and the kind of carnival music by Maurice Jarre makes the subject of the film even more disturbing.
This film is fantastic.I remember a few years ago that I hate to see these films because they were ¨weird¨. What a mistake! Now you see horror movies nowadays (and suspense in general) and are mostly a disaster! I'm from the old school, although i rescued films like The Babadook! There are many good ideas and always end up being the same ...
@@Blaqjaqshellaq ik I'm 11 months late to reply but I feel like I should point out that the difference isnt only limited to style (idk if you are talking about execution cause then you would be right but I'm still going to say what I want to say) it's about how well the plot is executed and its relationship with its horror aspect. A movie that is more plot based tends to do well but a lot of movies nowadays rely on cheap jumpscares and a shit ton of cgi (I'm looking at you "The prodegie"). The point is that movie back then had to deal with a limited buget and little to no CGI so they had to captivate thier audience with a great plot and great characters. While I do agree there are still movies like this today (like the absolute banger that is "us") they aren't as common as they use to be
I'm So Glad This Film Was Made, Because Her Featureless Look Was The Inspiration For The Michael Myers Mask In Halloween Whick Is My Favourate Horror/Slasher Of All Time. But Still I Applaud This Film For That Factor.
theres an episode of are you afraid of the dark with the same plot the name of the episode is called "The Tale of the Many Faces" I'm sure you can find it here on youtube
Just watch the movie! It's totally worth it. You can watch the entire thing (for a limited time) on Hulu.com, free of charge! Since you've come to this video, I'm sure you'll enjoy the film.
Thank you for posting / uploading this trailer over the next few days my Facebook group is featuring horror movie trailers from the 60’s and this fits in perfectly. #DrDreadReviews
@TDIhoohooh1 You cannot even begin compare the Human Centipede with this film. It's like comparing a crown jewel to a pile of assorted animal shit. This movie is brilliant. One of the best horror movies EVER.
The name and year of the movie are right in the title heading of this video: Eyes Without a Face (1960). The original French title is Les yeux sans visage.
Are we stuck w/ that music? It wrecks everything. Disrupts and disturbs any effort by the filmmaker to create true mood and atmosphere. Jarre obviously just didn't care and did it super-quick. It would take longer to play that crap than write it.
I love this movie. The way it combines horror and beauty is unique. And Christiane is surely one of the loveliest characters in film.

The Dark Passage actually did that years before this movie
The music alone will scare the hell out of you..one of the most disturbing horror films of all time..still gives me the creeps..
You're joking right ?
Not being rude but I just cant find black and white film's scary
Some people find them scary
@@ptrekboxbreaks5198 cool
The music was incredibly goofy ngl. Sounded like the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme
Watching it on TCM right now. Best channel ever!
I wonder if Billy Idol ever watched this movie
Of course he did.
Good one ;)
Obviously
DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think it's a coincidence he chose the title of the movie for his song. The themes are similar.

I just watched this on DVD and it is amazing! Very dark and beautiful at the same time!
Such a brilliant film! Absolutely one of the best i've ever seen.
the girl's mask was the inspiration for the iconic portrait of the shape( aka michael myers )
@@TopazDupree right but it ultimately it was William Shatner scary face that made it iconic
False it was William Shatner star trek mask that was inspiration
I just watched this. What a beautiful ending.

What's the difference between good horror and bad horror? IMHO it comes down to one word: style.

Midsommar and Hereditary both very good recent horror films
One of the greatest films in the history of cinema, and it is French.

This trailer doesn't do the movie justice
The music in this film kicks ass
A superb film, I hope Criterion will do a Blu-ray release of Les Yeux Sans Visage sometime soon.
one of the best french horror films of all time.

Here from Billy Idol's song
The subtitles blend into the background :(
just checked....its actually only going to be up on there for 3 more days!
Anyone here in 2024?
Not bad. I'm always looking for foreign movies and old 60's or older horror films. This is suspenseful and very interesting.
The fiancé, Jacques (François Guérin) was a good-looking guy.
Masterpiece
Looks like Joan Crawford had a French body double. Eyebrows and all! haha
probably the point
Billy Idol brings me here I wonder this movie based off Frankenstein

Wait, this isn't Billy Idol.
So awesome.
I adore this movie 👀

Man why can Cinemassacre’s Monster Madness never review it why?!
Now, I'm very curious about it, too.
Very apt for today's predicament.
Chilling
Je suis d'accord avec vous à 100%. ♥

Fantastic thriller movie
i'd like to, but hulu is blocked in my country. maybe another time :)
Cant see the subtitles :(
Alida Valli - grande actress

The pure lady or the angel and the Devil could be the title of this movie too. Christiane is angel like next to her father who is dark and a criminal.
Weird but great film. Certainly unpredictable and creepy
Be careful what you wish for.
@LilBpresents1
Yep.
Unpopular excuse: i came here because of WatchMojo
I'm here cause of a skeleton who tells puns

This was quite the movie. That crazy Doctor sure got what he deserved
Are 60% of the subtitles seriously illegible throughout the entire film?
Tell me how you found this
Who's will it be wearing now?
@TDIhoohooh1 You cannot even begin compare the Human Centipede with this film. It's like comparing a crown jewel to a pile of assorted animal shit. This movie is brilliant. One of the best horror movies EVER.
No. You can read them fine
'Les yeux sans visage' should make people realise how disgusting, cruel and inhumane vivisection is!
Sorry to ask what is the name of This Movie also what year did it come out?
The name and year of the movie are right in the title heading of this video: Eyes Without a Face (1960). The original French title is Les yeux sans visage.

Truly a weird movie.
Why is no one remake this movie?
Ihsan Rama To be honest, The Skin I Live In I believe was inspired by this film
@maeveniacal i've seen it. it's a great fucking movie.
REminds me of the human centipede
Dude what? No
BS! The original playlist with this says "Full Movie". No, it's just movie trailers and Billy Idol's song of the same name. So irritating!
