I’ve been using this tool for over a week and I’m obsessed. I have thin, flat hair that doesn’t hold its shape no matter what I try but with this, it holds so well! I actually disagree with your point about it being difficult for novices - I’m not good at hair. I can’t do a proper blow dry and rely on my GHD straighteners to smooth and style my hair and I only really know how to do that one style. With this, it took me maybe one attempt to get used to it and now I can do a bouncy blow dry so easily! Agree that pinning the curls will help hold but I think it does a good job without, for me. Only thing I’m struggling with is cleaning the product build up from the bristles. The little brush is good to try and knock it off but it’s hard to get anything else between the bristles to remove product as the bristles are solid and don’t move. I wish GHD would have thought of that because it’s taken me ages to clean it properly which is going to have to be a weekly thing given the speed at which the product built up. But despite that, this is still my favourite hair tool and I’m now selling my Dylan Airwrap because I never used it as it was nowhere near as effective as this ❤
Amazing! So good to hear that you’re getting some great results and loving the product! Have you tried using a cotton wool bud inbetween and around the bristles? (damp with water or micellar water!)
She starts using it at 7.:54 mins. Would have preferred to see what the dryer did without pin curl and enormous amounts of spray. Based on your review I wouldn’t buy it.
No worries - I give honest & balanced reviews showing how I genuinely use products. This isn’t an ad and I’m not promoting the product so I have no issue if you’re not inclined to purchase it, as I say it’s not for everyone! p.s I show one whole side which is not pin curled to show the difference in how the shape holds
Really helpful review! I’m tempted to buy it if I feel it lasts a few days in my hair, which is curly / kinky hair. This has been the most helpful review I’ve watched, would def pin curl it! Thanks xx
When you say it lasts a few days, when I put my hair in a loose scrunchie for bed I've lost my blow dry completely. How do you have your hair to sleep please? :)
I've used the ghd blow dry and pined my curls. I had a very beautiful blow dry at the end but only for two minutes. After that my hair is straight. Do you have any tips for longer results?
Ahhhh so annoying when this happens! Here’s my best tips: - apply mousse into damp hair first (you need a product with a strong hold factor) - mist each section also with a spray before going in with the brush (I really like living proof flex hairspray - you can use this before heat styling or Maria Nila shaping heat spray) again these will both help provide hold - get the pins in quickly whilst the hair is still warm - wait for hair to completely cool before taking out (if pressed for time you can even do a cool low blast with a hairdryer) - spray each section with hairspray after removing pins - best dress out will probably be just shaking out the roots or gently breaking up with fingers (rather than combing or brushing) - avoid humid conditions (like the bathroom!) Hope these extra tips may help 🥰💞
Does the actual barrel of the brush only heat to 120, because it feels so much hotter and that concerned me. It felt as hot as a tong and I could barely hold my hair it was sooo hot. I bought this because it’s less hot than the Dyson air wrap, but having used it, it feels much hotter. Can you check with the company that the barrel doesn’t heat to more than 120 please. I love the results and want to keep it, but not if it’s more heat damaging than the air wrap. Thanks
yes, definitely only heats up to 120C I know this for sure my best advice I'd give would be to style 'damp' hair rather than 'wet' I personally like to avoid dripping or soaking wet hair as the hair is a lot more fragile and stretchy in this state - perhaps that's why your hair felt really hot? But here, my hair didn't feel too hot to touch at any point and ghd do claim 'no damage' so I think you can feel confident using the brush - I hope this helps! 😊
@@leymeow2602 the side which I pinned lasted 3 days - gradually getting a bit looser each day once I'd slept on it, but kept that flicky, blow dry look!
honestly, i do not believe the 120 - it gets so hot, i cannot touch it anymore after a few minutes and it totally dries out my hair even if I use it on towl dried hair.
Thanks for this very detailed review. I’m inclined to buy it because I have such fine, curly, frizzy hair and my revlon blow dryer brush does blow my baby hairs all over the place so it’s a bit crazy. But I’m afraid this one gets too hot as to damage my fine hair while it’s wet? What do you think?
thank you! glad you found the review useful 🥰 I'd say if you have curls and your hair gets frizzy then this brush would be great because it really does smooth the hair out. I also find with curly hair types, the result really does hold and last which is great! I do love how it's not an external 'blow of air' from the barrel so it doesn't disturb the baby hairs giving a smoother, more polished result. 120C is the best temperature to heat style damp hair, it isn't too hot (the section of hair definitely doesn't get to hot to touch as you're gliding through) and ghd do even claim 'no damage' as they are so certain of the 120C temperature. My best advice is that I would leave the hair to dry firstly in a microfibre towel, so the hair is damp rather than soaking wet. The more wet the hair is, the more fragile and stretchy it is, so think damp not wet but it sounds like it would be a great tool for your hair! x
This was so helpful! I will give it one more try but most likely going to return it. 😢 definitely a beginner in styling hair and this is a lot of work. Heavy. Hot.
Glad you found it helpful! And I know what you mean, it is one which takes a lot of practice and knowing what you’re doing - then it’s great! But perhaps not everyone has the time to practice and experiment x
Yes really good! It’s got a great tension to pull and smooth out thick, wavy hair. Bob lengths you have the option to lift up for root lift and then just smooth and tuck the ends under, or you can create a loose wave/curl too ☺️
Ooooh I’d have to go and measure the barrel as it’s not stated anywhere on their site and it’s elliptical shape (so won’t be the same measurement all the way around) And on the wire, there will be a silver authenticity sticker with a bar code, you can then go online on the ghd website and register your tool to activate the warranty ☺️
@@ChloeSwiftStylist Hi Chloe, I took the plunge and bought it! I have wavy hair and am useless at blow drying it. First attempt was a bit ropey, second attempt is way better, almost salon quality blow dry. Your tutorial is excellent for showing how to section the hair off, best I've seen. I'd like a bit more bounce and volume, but I think that will come with practice. I do wonder if the Dyson Airwrap might have been a better investment for the variety of tools, but I went with the GHD for the lower temperature. Overall, I'm really happy with it and on my third attempt I'm going to trying pinning the curls, as you did. Thanks again for a really helpful video :)
I know you didn't ask me but personally I use a satin hair cap that has an elasticated edge so that my hair's all contained overnight and doesn't shift too much. not sticky, no (potentially if you put way too much in then yes!) the best way I can describe it is that it gives the hair a bit of 'grip' and 'guts' rather than being silky soft - but you need that in order to get any sort of hold or volume to hair! hope this helps 😊

So what i understand with the barrel being hot instead of air coming out is that it gets hot and is like putting a hair straightener at 120 degrees directly on wet hair so I don’t get why they say no damage …. No matter how much science is in this it can not be right for something hot on wet hair honestly. I believe in time it will fry the hair ……. Is inevitable.
Yes exactly - just like the ghd duet style (which is a straightening wet to dry tool) this is also 120C which is safe to use on damp hair I think people do forget just how strong hair can be, heat is fine to use on the hair so long as it’s done with all the right precautions, products, care etc. however a lot of users can abuse the hair and push it’s limits To dry your hair with a tool at 120C is actually far better for the hair and retains more moisture, compared to say letting the hair dry naturally (where you’ll have lots of frizz & fluffiness) and then tackling it with a lot higher heat & multiple passes on the hair to then tame this frizz, fluffiness or curl (which I know a lot of people do!) It’s all swings and roundabouts and very dependant on user behaviour tbh and in terms of the ‘no damage’ test it’s “no damage vs. letting the hair naturally air dry” this is done in the lab and there must be enough evidence for a brand to be able to legally claim this Hope that helps 😊
@@ChloeSwiftStylist that is blowing air down on the hair . This is acting more like a straightener as is not blowing air on the air but instead is making the barrel hot

Still works on really long hair, would definitely recommend pin curling still so it holds, I’d say you get a loose result. It doesn’t tug or get stuck because the barrel is so big, it does glide through really nicely
Urmmm, no I wouldn’t say this is a set rule - technically you can use heat on your hairs everyday if you want to and your hair is healthy enough/can handle this/you’re always using heat protection. Personally I do like to try and only put heat on my hair on those hair wash days where I need to dry and style it, then I’ll just leave it as my hair tends to hold quite well (it just drops and gets looser)
