- Overboard! Part 2 - there's multiple ways to get away with murder in Overboard, and septuple homicide is one of them. Here's my journey of trying to get this achievement and the ridiculous prize that awaits me.

okay, now imagine as this ship moves down a river to get to an inland port, it passes under one of Tyler's death traps from Bridge Game
Ms. Villensey thinking she has successfully gotten away with murder only to watch helplessly as the bridge above her ship collapses due to the engineer wanting to save 5 bucks on materials 😮

Anders up on the bridge just like, “wow she’s doing it again frankly it’s too late for me to report this without looking bad so I might as well enjoy the show” until the Major gets killed
That was such a surreal ending. I had wondered what all the dolphin symbolism was for!
Dolphins are sadistic and they like to watch other smaller fish to suffer. Maybe that was the metaphor. Mrs Veronica becoming her true self by the curse of something.
The dolphin imagery is definitely interesting because you don’t tend to see it as much when it comes to animal themes
After some very brief research I found that they represent a lot of things but the ones I found most interesting was that they often symbolize rebirth! Especially seeing dolphin symbols on things in the moments before a life altering decision (like every time that she killed someone)
They also represent freedom which is what she wants the most so that’s also a thing
If you pay attention to the newspapers and play through the game, you can glean that her father died in a dolphin hunting accident, and Veronica fucking _hates_ dolphins.
Also, generally, you’d have to be told this playthrough is an option by the devil, which requires an incredibly specific dialogue choice in the chapel. Tyler is apparently just one of those special people who doesn’t need prompting to murder everyone on board.
@bscorvin think you're giving Tyler a little too much credit here. Most everyone would lean towards genocide at least once.
I am sure when the boat pulls into harbour with only you on board, the authorities will be very understanding and they definitely won't attempt to hold you liable for mass murder.
This is of course presupposes that you know how to pilot the ship.
There's other crew members on board, most of which you don't seem able to interact with. She doesn't have to captain the ship, they will
it would've been funnier if you ended up killing the captain but then you ended up stranded because you're alone and don't know how to pilot the ship

I think the part where you canonically die is after you fail to shove the general, because that's the exact point where the outcomes becomes hard to believe. As the saying goes "Your last brain cell shooting dopamine as you reach for the cop's gun"
Personally i think she got the general but died at the knife fight with the captain

@bdcs9752 I mean, this game does have its fair share of unapologetic wackiness, have you ever seen the interaction in the church area where you can literally speak with God (this is an actual interaction in the game)

@@kirbysuperstaruhh3769Because of the interactions with God and mainly because the newspaper at the end actually reported dolphin sightings, I believe it all happened as God decided to step into action to mess things up a bit.
I suspect you turning into a dolphin has something to do with the fact you didn't go talk to god in the church part of the boat, in that run. Also the fact you said you wanted to be together with the Commander sealed that deal, maybe. Your wish was granted... somehow.
wasn't expecting this game to come back honestly! i really enjoyed the first video on it though, so excited to see how tyler wins by murdering everyone

Glad to see this game follows the inkle tradition of letting you kill a whole bunch of people for honestly not very good reasons.

i thought there was only 2 endings, being caught and not being caught, im glad there are more and even more glad you are playing them
there's a couple different endings! Aside from the the neutral one where you get away and the kill everyone option, you can also plant evidence to frame other another passengers and get Malcom's life insurance money
So now after practicing solving the murder, to not leave any traces, getting away with murder, he's now committing the murders himself. I'm excited to see the irl version where he practices what he has learned

Im as confused as you are about that end. I kinda expected her to just get away with murdering the whole cast though
I'd say it's more realistic than being able to get away with many murders, but... well... no, no it isn't, not with how THAT happened.

I just realized this is an inkle game! The same people who made sorcery!, these people are masters at game design.
Come on UA-cam, it's the same time every day. You know.which channel I'm looking for.
You should try Forgotten Kingdoms 2: The Ruby Ring. It's a great puzzle like game kinda similar to overboard but whit diffrent storyline and you can make at least 3 episodes before finishing it. Hope you'll try it.

Now that you've killed everyone, I do wonder, are there different bad endings for committing multiple different murders but not murdering everyone (that you can murder, anyways...) aboard as seen here? And if you commit more than just the murder the game started with, is it still possible to get away scot-free?

Honestly, I wanted to see more about this game, but what I enjoyed about it was the trickery and deception. This run is just „murder everyone“, which seems like a really bad idea while you’re at sea.
I think the reason you become a dolphin is a curse/punishment from god, the same one you talk to in the chapel!
