I center drilled the existing posts and the new posts with a 3/4” bit. I used metal rods in the hole, then slipped the new post over the rod. Then I used the Simpson string tie plates around the outsides. After everything is finished, I wrapped the 4x4’s with pressure treated appearance grade 1x6’s ripped to size to hide the seams.
@@LDSKIPPER1911 , The deck is supported by 6x6 posts with a 2x10 beam across the posts. The railing posts which are 4x4's were attached on top of the beam, through the deck.
So how did you attach the uprights to the existing posts
