Keisha Buchanan discusses Sweet 7 - the final Sugababes album (Wireless Festival, July 2009)

- An interview with Keisha in which she discusses what would have been her seventh album as a Sugababe. Notice her discomfort when talking about their (Keisha, Heidi and Amelle) loss of control on the writing front - a decision forced upon them by their growingly incompetent management, label, and new ties with Roc Nation.
i love her speaking voice and her crisp British accent.
Its honestly Gorgeous!!
Keisha (and the other originals) has always been about the lyrics, harmony, and working on their tracks in the studio so you can see her frustration here at how commercialised and dance-pop focused the group was becoming.
She deserves more attention.
HA! At the beginning Keisha knew she wasn't joking lol but man them kicking Keshia out killed the Sweet 7 era for me but in turned out to be a blessing in disguise cause now the original lineup is back together with the name thatbwas rightfully theirs
It’s so sad that she got kicked out not long after this :( Sweet 7 is my favourite Sugababes album as I love dance pop but her getting kicked out of the band is horrible
she has a youtube channel (it's not that big) but she vlogs about her life and Sugababes stuff, its recent too.
Really good channel and deserves a recommendation here. She is impressively direct. I still hope for new material from MKS/Sugababes away from the confection of the 7 album.
She’s gorgeous!!
Funny - In a recent IG live, she said that it was her least favorite album. Good canned response in this YT video lol.
Jade sounded amazing on Sweet 7 - it just all felt a little odd at the time. Sugababes 2.0 will always be the best
Think she was glad to not be part of that album in the end
True London girls with real raw talent ..
she is so stuning
0:04 - 0:07 i believe this is the most sincere and honest moment in the entirety of this interview
and the best actress goes to... 😂😂 love ya keisha!!
The original 3 were about the music.
No shade, but they were never glammed up or strutting around the stage. They perfected their harmonies with ease and worked on progressing their songwriting and sound.
They turned into dancing ho's with mediocre music
I hated her label since 2006
So so many dumb decisions:
2006 - Follow me Home as last single with a WINTER themed video in the middle of summer. Why not "Gotta be you"?
2006 - "Good to be gone" cancelled as single from the best of
2008 - Not a 4th single for change like why. Denial sold well especially in centre Europe and they always released 4 singles x album. "My love is pink" or "never gonna dance again" were perfect choices
2008 - the whole C&S era. They had 0 promotion, no one noticed the album, just 2 singles and they were one of the weakest songs of the album. Seriously its their best album and got no promo at all
I feel the flop caused the label to change style from pop/60s to go to this dance style
And 2010 - why not release a ballad for Sweet7. It had 4 nice ones and would have boost the sales showing the world that they have still some decent pop songs. "No more you" for example instead of "wear my kiss"
*best _of._
@@solongsuicide9 thanks bae. Corrected
I completely agree! Their management NEVER listened to the fans during those times.
I completely agree with what you said. They should of released a summer single for 'Change' as the fourth single.
Catfights and Spotlights
- Beware
- Side Chick
- Can we call a truce
- Girls
Best singles.
I think they should of taken a break after the Change album to be honest. They exhausted themselves and did not have a minute to recharge.
Sweet 7 should of been promoted with Keisha. No other way around it.
Singles should have been released :
1. Get Sexy
2. Thank you for the heartbreak
3. About a girl
4. Little miss perfect
Denial is one of my favorite songs of the Babes, and yes, No more you should hv been released. Little miss Perfect is good too
I wonder what would happen if Keisha wasn't kicked out from the previous Sugababes! She would stay with Amelle and Heidi and she wouldn't reunite with Mutya and Shiobhan! This is really interesting imagination! But I'm thankful for Jade, she improved Sweet 7 a lot!
How did she improve Sweet 7? No diss to Jade, but how was it better without Keisha?
Always referring to their age. You were 14 year old casted girls, not 14 year old geniuses.
she didn't sound braggy to me. besides, what were you doing at 14? i bet you weren't doing even half the work these girls did. and yes 14 really is a pretty young age to be working, especially considering all the difficulties around that age even without having to fulfill work commitments
