@@jasonwilliams9307 Yes, this is true. Ice and Ish didnt want to make the same mistakes trying to work out contracts/negotiating directly with Joe so they hired Managers to that. If anyone treats podcating like a business, it's definitely Ice. LOL.
Lets break it down from the owner perception. Let’s say they did take the percentage. If the show revenue is down you’ll feel it with a percentage. Salary is guaranteed no matter if the revenue is down. The salary may be less but it’s more likely they will get that salary amount rather having a fluctuating pay. But also no employee gets a percentage. If they signed a contract that stated they were getting a percentage off total revenue they are part owners. If this is in writing no matter what, they could sue for millions and win with no problem. Sound like they were just told this and had nothing in writing.
Joe wanted to put them in the place they made comfortable for themselves. They showed that they just wanted to come in work for an hour or 2 and dip. That sounds like someone that should be on salary. If they were bringing partnership deals to the table, or marketing plans that were viable then that would warrent a percentage based payout. If u move like an employee ima treat u like an employee. And don't get it twisted, their "salary" would have been 7 figures. Only 10% of the American population makes over 100k solo (not as a household). They felt like they provided alot by just showing up and talking. But just like an employee in any job when they left parks house, they didn't show much interest in building the show. They brought not much more then talking to the show. That deserves a check. Not a percentage.
Rory and Mal thought they was co owners in something but had no paperwork to back it up. This happens all the time with tv shows, record labels and other professions. Joe didn't feel he owed them anything and they went they separate ways. The end
I dont get why most these fools in the comments dont get that. Street mentality will never win with proper paperwork and business signatures. Specially when you’re emotionally involved with speculation.
They had a percentage based partnership that Joe didn't pay and tried to swindle them out of with his janky accounting. Definitely happens more frequently than ppl care to admit.

1. It was an incentive laden comp plan; the higher the income the more R&M get. 2. They never had equity 3. They never had to sit behind expenses. When joe owns it, and there is no money, he needs to pay for expenses. R&M never need to sit behind expenses 4. SO when spotify money went dry…he was gonna pay them out of his own pocket and be responsible for that no matter how operations performed 5. It depends now, more expenses give them less profit sharing, so the accountants need to now make sure all expenses are valid that go through THE PODCAST business 6. All revenue legally contracted with JBP LLC, would be subject to the profit sharing plan Did joe try to hide revenues by getting another LLC to sign sponsorship deals so R&M couldnt see it? Did joe run expenses through so the pod had less income for R&M to participate in? He said to audit him. That’s totally fine
And then he wants to talk in riddles about it. He had to go through all of that just to say he was putting pre payout money in other things. That's why he brought up that he got paid off "net" too.

Joe Budden's problem might be because he's a great talent he thinks he's great at business. And when business is good everything is easy. But when issues arise that's when you know how good you really are. The issue with Dame Dash belittling people for having a lack of ownership was the assumption that everyone is meant to be an owner. Some people are just talent they're not businessmen. Joe Budden is a great talent but a bad business runner and operator. He blew up the Spotify deal without a game plan and was stuck when he couldn't pay his cohost. People need to know their strengths and weaknesses!
Funny how he threw in 3 million as an example of salary refusal, then pulled it back by saying “whatever the salary is”, because he didn’t want to be on the hook for quoting a specific dollar offer that he knew wasn’t close to what was actually proposed. If you know how to read people you’re ahead of the game.
Plus in the past when explaining his side he tried to make it out like he was trying to give everybody a raise. But without showing the real certified accounting. How are they supposed to even know if that is really a raise without seeing the paperwork?

@Stacey Martin that is not what happened .. Mal and Rory wanted to see the books.. Joe wouldn't let them or kept dancing around it delaying them.. This cause Mal and Rory to question why someone would do that (especially a friend).. And the only logical conclusion is there's something to hide!I Joe playing semantics by saying "we have creative differences" when it has nothing to do with the creative part, it's the business part, is a clear sign of his narcissistic mentality.. The fact Joe said himself "it's my podcast on my channel I don't have to" shows what type of time he was on (which again is ok in business but don't make out your friendship is more important and your a stand up dude with your ride or dies when clearly that isn't the case.early Granted Rory and Mal should of had their business in order from the start BUT if we friends like that and the show grew with and because of the two co hosts (which it did) why would you want your so called "friends" to be in salaries instead of having ownership WHICH JOE IS A ADVOCATE FOR?! It's several issues here. Joe probably was giving them a great contract in comparison to his bad rap contracts. I believe he was looking out for them in his mind. The problem is they needed or wanted to judge that for themselves with seeing the overall deal. The number 1 issue is they considered themselves partners and not employees. In my opinion they never should have allowed the name change. I feel like it went downhill from there.

He talks around the issue. They saw themselves as partners in creating something and he saw them as employees. He refused to show them the books so they could be paid on the points they were promised. Joe saw himself as the boss and that the show couldn’t exist without him so he was entitled to the bigger cut and complete control. Bottom line you take the salary, the opportunity/spotlight is the real equity Joe took that and flipped it to like four other bags, e.d.s, pull up, s.o.t.c, love & hip hop etc ... of course he's getting more money add that to the fact he owns the ip not saying that Rory and mal didn't contribute to the JBP success but Joe is the x-factor the whole situation proves just that. This is over regardless of the reason now make another one and the stats pretty much show that he did, all the things that rory and mal are doing now they could've done and still been part of the JBP. Joe has a point most CEOs would’ve put Rory & Mal on salaries from the start because they were unknown cohost. He gave them a profit share bc they were friends… he built up their value & they became house names worthy of a profit share. Putting them on salaries would be a demotion & a pay cut. The greed got in the way of what they were building
For what they brought to the show, they essentially behaved as salary employees. They can't be owners of something and don't share in the cost of business. The original agreement can always be renegotiated.
The concept sold to Spotify was the trio, maybe with Joe as frontrunner but they were entitled to some ownership. The horge porge of characters just worked, that was the draw. Joe was joonsed out before the pod so the build up is mutual. They did fxck up when they allowed Joe to change the shows name to The JBP. That was the real death nail. Joe saw the money and started thinking how he could take a bigger margin, now I kinda think he sabotaged the deal to get rid of Mal & Rory.
@@richardhardaway7813 maybe the front runner? You can’t be serious? It’s the joe budden podcast, what do you mean maybe lol? entitled to ownership for what? That’s unrealistic and illogical. He was doing shows at revolt and bringing cash app sponsorships from his pull up series. Raury and Mal was sitting on the couch when Joe was bringing all that traffic to the podcast. The podcast got big because of all the moves joe was making. Raury and Mal need to be real with themselves because they were never joe’s equal. If anyone treats podcating like a business, it's definitely Ice. LOL.
Joe a spin master 😂 ain’t nobody gonna be happy about going from a percentage to a salary unless the salary was more somehow 😂
Thank you bruh 😂😂😂
The salary would have been more. They were just over it.
@@hippipdip why wouldn't they accept more money?? 🤔
Rory and Mal thought they was co owners in something but had no paperwork to back it up. This happens all the time with tv shows, record labels and other professions. Joe didn't feel he owed them anything and they went they separate ways. The end

1. It was an incentive laden comp plan; the higher the income the more R&M get.
2. They never had equity
3. They never had to sit behind expenses. When joe owns it, and there is no money, he needs to pay for expenses. R&M never need to sit behind expenses
4. SO when spotify money went dry…he was gonna pay them out of his own pocket and be responsible for that no matter how operations performed
5. It depends now, more expenses give them less profit sharing, so the accountants need to now make sure all expenses are valid that go through THE PODCAST business
6. All revenue legally contracted with JBP LLC, would be subject to the profit sharing plan
Did joe try to hide revenues by getting another LLC to sign sponsorship deals so R&M couldnt see it?
Did joe run expenses through so the pod had less income for R&M to participate in?

Joe Budden's problem might be because he's a great talent he thinks he's great at business. And when business is good everything is easy. But when issues arise that's when you know how good you really are.
The issue with Dame Dash belittling people for having a lack of ownership was the assumption that everyone is meant to be an owner. Some people are just talent they're not businessmen.
Joe Budden is a great talent but a bad business runner and operator. He blew up the Spotify deal without a game plan and was stuck when he couldn't pay his cohost.

It's several issues here. Joe probably was giving them a great contract in comparison to his bad rap contracts. I believe he was looking out for them in his mind. Joe was the one that brought millions of subscribers to the podcast when he went to complex and after. He was doing shows at revolt and bringing cash app sponsorships from his pull up series. Raury and Mal was sitting on the couch when Joe was bringing all that traffic to the podcast. The podcast got big because of all the moves joe was making.
