That‘s right. I‘m a quite new EUC rider as well and I think we belong to the street, bike lanes, offroad trails and so on. No need for riding on the sidewalk.
This looks truly awesome. But that's a lot of time investment before it pays off. I'm not sure if I want to go this route, I think I may stick with e-bikes since I've already developed the necessary skills for that. But I think parents should get their kids little EUCs to ride around on sidewalks at like 4-8 mph, so by the time they're adults, it's a practical form of transportation. Kids have a lot more patience for learning that kind of stuff. The streets would be so much safer, and faster to navigate on, if most people were using ebikes, escooters, and eucs. Leave the cars and trucks for people that are hauling cargo or passengers, or the disabled. It's so unecessary for everyone to be driving massive trucks and SUVs to work every day, blocking up the streets and posing a threat to anyone they collide with.
Most people gain enough skills to commute within a week. When you consider the sheer usefulness of these things as well as how often you'll use it once you really get into it, the initial time investment becomes inconsequential and very much worth it.
@@gabinator1177 I could see myself getting good enough with this to be able to ride it around at 12-20 mph and maintain stability, in a week. But being able to ride it is only 10% of the puzzle. On a road full of drivers that have no respect for anyone that isn't in a car or truck, you have to be able to do a lot more than just ride, brake, and make turns. Riding my e-bike, I'm constantly encountering drivers that don't obey right-of-way laws and start accelerating and turning left through an intersection even when I'm right in front of them. Sometimes they'll do it when I'm literally 2 feet in front of their car because they pulled out too far into the intersection, and there's no way they can't see me. These people think they're the only ones allowed on the road. And the sheer amount of people that try to run me off the road by merging into my lane, WITH ME IN IT, who don't even bother to do it behind me or in front of me, despite the big opening availability to do so, they just decide to merge right then and there, straight into me. And the amount of people that speed past me inside of my own lane, even when the adjacent lane is empty. Before I could use one of those things to commute, I'd have to be good enough to safely accomodate other drivers' incompetence. I'd have to have the skills to swerve out of their way, without overcompensating and ending up in the adjacent lane getting splattered by another car, and without losing balance. I'd have to have the skills to accelerate myself out of a shady situation without losing control. I feel confident in my ability to keep myself safe on my bike, but I'd need hundreds if not thousands of miles on one of these wheels before I'd take it to a street full of hostile drivers that actively want to kill me just for being different. The amount of people that yell "Get off the road" and try to run me to the curb like they own the place. They'll do it right in front of the police, they don't care. The only rights you have are the rights that are enforced. It doesn't matter what's written down on a piece of paper. If I ever find myself having tons of spare time, as well as the spare money to invest in something that I can only use as a hobby at first until I'm skilled enough to use it for transportation, then I'd love to learn to use one of these things, and I wish I'd already learned before, the last time I was in such a position. But right now, I'll stick to my bike, it's almost as portable, I just can't stick it in the backseat of an uber or a backpack.
@@lewisedwardson7776 Seems like you already have those skills and instincts on your e-bike, which are completely transferrable to EUC. Once you understand the basics, everything you already know will carry over in little time.
@@gabinator1177 Nope, EUC looks like it requires balancing skills and leaning the body this way and that to control navigation. I tried using someone's "hoverboard" before and bust my ass 10 times in a row and couldn't manage to go 20 feet. My bike skills were non-transferrable. I'd have to start from scratch. I'm not writing it off, though, I'm willing to practice if I get the opportunity, but I don't think buying something I can't use is the best option for me right now. It's too bad, because they also seem to be the best price point for performance. Offroad scooters are also have a pretty good price-performance ratio, but they don't look as fun as EUCs. It's unfortunate that ebikes are so overpriced, but I guess that comes with being popular. I'll have to build my own, in order to get something that can keep up with traffic.
@@lewisedwardson7776 An EUC is more alike a bike than a hoverboard. And of course you’re going to learn a new set of skills because it’s a new vehicle. But it’s a bad idea to make any assumptions until you’ve actually tried it. I bought one before I knew how to ride, and with time and practice I learned. And now after teaching many of my friends, I truly believe anyone who wants to learn, can. And it seems like the only thing holding you back is the fear of not being able to learn, which I guarantee you can. When I spoke about transferable skills I meant the instincts of operating a vehicle on the road (which is something you already have). After a couple days to a week (took me 5 days), the EUC will be integrated into your body enough that those instincts will carry over. But you do you of course. Hopefully you can find someone who has one for you to try.
And the electric cars thing isn’t our further it’s to expensive and only the rich can afford it but I’m not saying I don’t support using solar panels but electric cars and trucks won’t have big enough truck beds to haul lumber like my Alsome gmc sirrra with a 8 foot box no electric truck can beat gas powered and with gas there is less chances of. A fire and wait time but for city driving I guess euc or electric cars would be fine where there is no trees around
