It is nice to be able to identify the night sounds I have been hearing now. I was mowing one of our pastures at dusk and glad to now identify the bird I noticed nesting. I left the area near nest unmown until after mid-June or when no activity. I pray the barn cat does not find it!
I love this video! I discovered that my surname also happens to also be a word for nightjar in my language, so I really wanted to know more about them. This is such a wonderful way to learn more. Thank you!
I love Nightjars. I have been lucky to see them several times, and hear them as well. Only a few nights ago I was treated to a sighting as I drove along a country lane near my home. My car lights I think did stun it, and it settled on the road for a minute. I stopped the car as it was 4.30 am and no One else around. I was absolutely overjoyed to see it .
What a beautiful documentary and photography. Considering this bird is rarely seen than heard. You have taken great efforts. 👌👍. Keep it up. My best wishes
Very lovely and informative film, thankyou. We really enjoyed watching, but more importantly it gave us clues as to how to look out for and try to help preserve the night jars we have here around our house in Gippsland, Victoria Australia. :)
Brilliant piece of documentary making. Such an indepth and illuminating video on these unusual birds. I especially liked the analysis on the Nightjar's calls and song. Such a weird and special call.
I hear Whip-poor-wills at night, outside my home in North Carolina, USA but I have never seen one. I appreciate your diligence in photographing these elusive birds. You have a lovely voice for narration.
Good to know that even this kind of bird exists, thank u so much for the documentary. Its not that easy to get these shots at night.. you did a great job ji 👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻
I am from Wales in Britain. I went camping in a favourite spot in Snowdonia this past July with friends and we could hear the magical call of this beautiful migrator all night long. Thanks for your presentation. Really well made. Your accent is equal to the nightingale to my ears.
@@mayurikotian225 it was truly magical. We were camping beneath oak trees. A peach coloured half moon set into the Irish Sea. We were serenaded all night long by this wonderful bird. Just a perfect night.
Wonderful ! Different environment from the english nightjar with which I’m familiar, but same family of course. In England the bird has no enemies ( other than people walking on its nests! ) and we certainly have no tigers where it is found ! Do the male Indian nightjars do the wing claps too ?
it's made with such simplicity that it enables the layman understand it's importance too. much appreciation for your pure and sincere efforts, best wishes :)
Truly a beautiful production. I’ve been filming birds professionally for about 6 months, and the Nighthawk has captured my curiosity more than most. Is the screech sound really their wings making that sound while in the air? I’ve yet to see one on the ground, so I’ve never heard the sounds you showed in this video. Wonderful job! Do more!
Hey! Kudos to you for filming birds! These birds indeed are very fascinating creatures. The screech sound is a vocal sound however sometimes they will also produce a flapping sound while in air (not in this video). Also, I'm assuming you're talking about nighthawks which are different from nightjars. You would mostly find nighthawks in an around central America whereas this video includes three species of nightjars from central India. I'm guessing this is why you've never heard these sounds. Thanks for watching! Glad you found it interesting! :)
These birds are really hard to see. Today on 18.03.2022 I noticed one in darkness on top of a tree. I searched for its sound and identified it as jungle nightjar. You documentary is amazing.🙏🙏🙏
I found this bird, sitting on the ground, some people say it is a bird of ill omen and death, it had a frog like mouth, but I think it was ill, because it did not fly away, i gave it some water, and let it go but it would not fly and next morning it was still on the ground outside where I left it but a rat I think had ate its head off,a sad end, but I tried to help it,the only misfortune and death was to itself.
makmes me wonder if there is nightjar species in the US. and if not.would it be a good idea to import? we do have growing fields and a number of flying pests after all.
It is really challenging to even spot this bird, doing a research is a great achievement. The video tells the effort you have taken. All the best 🙂
Thank you, Omkar bhaiya! :)

Great Content tbh, Thank You

Very valuable research. Nice and painstaking efforts.👍
Thank you, Narayan uncle! :)
What an utterly charming video. Did you really get that close to a Nightjar ? Jai hind.
I did! It was more like it accidentally came near me! I was photographing it and something startled it. So it flew and sat next to me. :)

Many times the Nighthawk can be seen at night flying high above the lights of a parking lot catching insects.
Excellent ! Thank you 🙏

The nightjar's "bouncing ball" sound is similar to a little owl that we have in Canada.
Good efforts.....
Thank you, Vipin bhaiya!
Waiting night's after night's out in the wild to shoot those scenes 😅 ....huge respect to you😊
It was challenging for sure, but my father accompanied me every night on the field so that made the whole process really smooth! :)

It's an insectivore! So eats insects like moths!
