- Legendary car designer Marcello Gandini, passed away this week at the age of 85. He is arguably one of the greatest car designers of all time, creating the sleek and stunning Lamborghini Miura back in 1966, which was a car that set the blueprint for supercars for years to come. Then there was his invention of scissor doors in 1968, which became a unique feature of the extravagant Lamborghini Countach LP400 in 1973.
His list of design hits is incredible and whether it's a Lancia Stratos, Lamborghini Diablo or an Alfa Romeo Carabo that takes your fancy, Gandini has added his touch of genius to all of them. - Спорт
RIP Marcello Gandini. The man who inspired me to become a designer - and who brought us some of the most breathtaking designs ever seen.
Are you a designer now
@@sibasish_saYes, for the last 38 years now
R.I.P. Gandini, grazie per le opere che ci hai regalato ❤
A great talent, who gave joy to shapes, and left this world a bit more beautiful than he found it.
Mr Marcello Gandini was my biggest hero since childhood. I always wanted to go to Italy to meet him, and design cars at Bertone or Pininfarina. I drew sports cars incessantly as a kid, and teen. His designs inspired most of my own. I always wanted to go to Art Center College in Pasadena Ca and study car design. I found out that it's easier to get into the NBA, than it is to become a car designer. Unfortunately, growing up in the US, no one I ever talked to knew who he was. So I always had to explain that he designed the Countach. He will be missed. Thank you.
Amazing designer. Just amazing. He will be missed.
R.I.P. MAESTRO. 🙏🏻
Rest in peace Marcello Gandini ,you're design's are legendary as you are.
Rest In Peace Mr Gandini🙏🏼
Im a kid of the 1990’s who had posters and model cars of the Lamborghini Diablo. As of four years ago my dream came true and I have a Diablo in my garage!
God bless your soul. 🙏🏼
This man made every little boy of my generation dream of owning a Lamborghini. He alone created a generation of car fanatics. RIP Sir.
#RIPMarcelloGandini thank you for designing cool and amazing beautiful and gorgeous cars like The Lamborghini Muria and Countach. Grazie Regazzi. I will miss you. 🙏
Hero of my teens. Where would my love of cars be without him. A legend. Rest in peace.
His name symbolizes excellence in design! R.I.P. Mr. Gandini.
Had a VT identical to that red one….. what a car, will never forget it 😱
Thanks Marcello 😊and the Citroen BX !
now how can i live without marcello gandini it is truly a person who designed not just an awesome diablo but the well known production car that can be driven daily like the citroen bx and i wanted to thank you to this man for everything that he had to for the whole world to see his true italian style
Rest In Peace Marcello Gandini 1938-2024
You're A True Designer Legend
Thank you for digging this out. Gandini shaped the modern car. The Countach discarded all known design sensibilities for production cars at the time, although he had practiced the 'wedge' shape before with the even wilder Bertone Carabo concept car to get his eye in. Then there was the Stratos. He also contributed to humbler cars like the Renault SuperCinq and the R5 Turbo with its *bonkers* interior - a true master can turn their hand to anything, after all. RIP.
Rip Marcello. Thank you
The man made dreams a reality!
"Rest In Power" Marcello Gandini.
He made mine a reality 1983 - 1992, a 73 Alfa Romeo Montreal V8. His design as well, look it up if you're not familiar 😊
RIP Marcello. Not just Lamborghini ... I owned one of your Alfa Romeo masterpieces, a 1973 Montreal V8 (look it up people). I miss that car more than any other I've had 😢, many happy, trouble free cross country trips
That's really bad news... This Master of Art, gave Lamborghinis tech the spectacular exterieur - and both become legends of automobil history. R. I. P. Sig. Gandini. 😢
RIP Marcello!
The Miura is still my dream car.
RIP
Thank you for your inspiration, sir.
Greatest between the greats! R.I.P., maestro!
I almost cried. he was my childhoods hero. heroes never die. everything you did will live forever.
Thank you, Mister Gandini 👍
Genio Italiano
Как жаль! Гениальный дизайнер ушел от нас! 😞
❤ Sr..Gandini
R.I.P Gandini, your cars will cary on your legacy. 🇮🇹
Italy's finest. As a person warmhearted to design, his work was and still is exceptional for me and for all involved in the passion for aesthetics. Of all the designs he was less pleased about, it was the Diablo. In fact Chrysler's rework was so disappointing for him that he brought his own design to Claudio Zampoli. The Cizeta-Moroder V16T was/is the result. In that regard, it is a bit odd that the Diablo is being given the spotlights... Anyway, a legend will be dearly missed.
Even his rather unknown designs are head turners. I´m driving my Citroen BX to work every day and it gets more looks than any of the surrounding boring modern cars that are nearly indistinguishable from each other.
My only experience with the Diablo came in a ride with Valentino Balboni at the factory once, a day or so after the San Marino race.
Sadly, the traffic limited the excitement a bit . . .
RIP Marcello Gandini, I was just talking about his influence on car design with several friends and my older brother who restores vintage cars as his main hobby. Car design would have been COMPLETELY different without Gandini's influence, he basically codified the "long low wide and angular" style that dominated high end luxury cars and sports cars from the late 1960's to the mid 1990's.
I can see his "baby" becomes investors' dream now. The value for Diablo is going to skyrocket.
A sad day 🙏🏻
Personally Diablo is the best car designed by Marcello Gandini, one of his last masterpieces
RIP Marcello, _grazie mille_ (thank you so much) for these outstanding and also exquisite designs 😢
🙏🏿
RIP.
