Capita Mega Merc Park Review

- Brought the Capita Mega Merc out in the park today, and so happy I did. It was strong and stable on the jumps and quite fun on the rail as well. This will be my new park board for sure. The parks at @aspensnowmass are all time right now. Filmed by Jospeh Bland, @jbland901

nobody knew you could shred park like that man, keep it up
Thanks dude, back in the park saddle again
Holy Shit, you are shredding out there!!!! You are the MAN !!! Thanks for the inspiration! The moves you threw down on the BIG jumps were off the chart steezy !!!!! OG status !!!!!!!
Yeeeew, thanks dawgie!
Bro I thought you just reviewed snowboards I didn’t realize you were a pro boarder sheeeesh too minty 😮💨
I can back up my talk hahah, this is what I live for
Awesome flow! Love to see a video from you talk about how you learnt all these tricks😉
Thanks dawgie, that's a good idea, maybe I'll do that in a live soon
Serious skills man. Great to watch
Thanks, more coming soon!
Sheeeeesh. Rippin. I'd be smilin about it too
😁😁
Real talk, that was some impressive riding.
Thanks my dude!
Love youre style! Have the same Board for 2024, cant wait to try it! Saludos desde España Amigo!
Yeeew, thanks homie!
Dang, you were ripping! Take me as your disciple! Props to your camera person!
Thanks dude! That's my boy Joe Bland on camera, making the shots look so good
Great to see Sandwich putting some mustard on again. Stomped it!
Woop woop
On Fiyer Shane! Huge 3, sick 5, perfect 7 and the switch 5 is on point! And the rail game & handplants were money! 🎰💰⚒👌🏼🙌🏼🤙🏼
Oh yeah... love the alley-oop in the Pipe too 🔥
Yeeew, thanks dawgie, I was stoked on this day!
Glad to see that ankle heeled up for ya 🙌 ur shredding bro🔥 yeesh
It's finally feeling so good, thanks dawgie!
Wow. You're really good
🤘
One on my favorite snowboarding channels, keep killing it man! How did you like those Anon M3 goggles compared to your usual line miners? Trying to decide between the two.
Thanks my dude, just got back on our weekly video uploads and we've got some great ones coming soon. I like both of the goggles, it is nice to have a quick low light lens change with the M3 and the option for the magnetic facemask too
@@SearchofSnowboarding Appreciate the feedback! Hype for the weekly uploads, excited for what's to come, keep crushing dude!🤘
Awesome riding! Great review! You made it look easy...
Thanks Barry!
Awesome review! I’m between 2024 Mega Merc and pre ordering a mega death. I don’t hit jump lines, but do like hitting natural features, doing 180s, etc. No rails, no butters, just fast riding in all conditions and tree runs on pow days. Would you say one is better for an intermediate-advanced rider? I feel stuck between the two and the on sale price vs full price of the death are making me wonder, but ultimately want what’s best for that type of riding.
Well they are both two of my favorite boards, but if you're not going to be tricking too much aside from natural features, I'd suggest the Mega Death. I've been only grabbing the Mega Merc when I'm in more a freestyle mindset and the Mega Death whenever I'm ripping everywhere except the park
Wow, nice flow man
Thanks homie
Clean af
🤙🤙
Hey man sick video! I recently got a mega merc but was wondering if you shift the bindings up to be closer to a twin stance for park riding/groomers and such?
No, I like just setting them centered based on the reference. It's only setback 0.5" so it's nothing you notice when riding switch, plus it's the way the board was designed to ride
I set my mega merc to centered and have loved how it rides. My riding style is a lot of spinning butters and side hits, so constantly riding regular and goofy with no problems on the mega merc.
Love the gnome brotha!!! Had a DMT trip one time where i saw gnomes building a bunch of mechanical structures. Come ride Washington state soon! getting copious amounts of pow in the PNW right now
Thanks dude. Haha that sounds like a wild time!
“Hi. Intermediate rider here. 5'10, 170 lbs, Size US 10M boots.
What would be a good size for me? Was initially stuck between 155 vs 157. Seems like you're riding the 157 but what's your height, weight, boot size?
I probably spend 70-80% exploring the whole resort looking for natural features, and love side hits, carving, bombing down. The rest 20-30% at the park with just basic jumps and rails nothing too technical though would love to get more proficient.
Thanks in advance for your time.
I'm 6' 150lbs size 9 US boot and riding the 157. You could do either size, but as an intermediate the 155 might be a better choice for now as it will be a little easier for you to maneuver
Super sick. Did you detune it? Or rode it just factory tuned?
I did a slight detune just on the contact points
Absolute class 😮💨
🙏🏻
Hey,
Awesome shredding!!
Wondering if I could get your advice please?
I currently have an old 157 Freeride Inca board, which I've out grown , experience - wise, a while ago and also now it boots me out on my carves.
I'm 5'11", with boots size ranging from 11.5 - 12 ( depending on the brand) .... currently I have a pair of Burtons 11.5 size - measuring 32.3cm from heel to toe.
So, am wondering which size with the Mega Merc should i get - 156W or 158W?
Tks heaps
😊
I love your energy and the detailed review. How is buttering with the mega merc? I'm 192cm/6'3, 85kg/188lbs, 45EU/11.5US and not sure whether to go for a 159, 161 or 160w. Expert allmountain rider liking to speed up, carve, butter and side hitting stuff (180, 360, nothing too crazy), taking pow if there's any: Could you help me out? :-)
Go with the 160W. It's fun to butter because of the thinner tips, although it's not super easy because of the overall stiffer flex. We've got 160Ws on sale right now at: www.radioboardshop.com/capita-mega-mercury-23.html?id=86322536&quantity=1
@@SearchofSnowboarding Thanks so much!! I live in Switzerland, sadly... :-( So I cannot buy it from your site. Could you elaborate why you'd prefer the 160w over the 161 for my situation?
@@JohnnyEase You should always be buying wide with your size foot
Awesome shredding! I think you've convinced me over the Super DOA.
My main tool is the 154 capita asymulator, a good 6/10 stiffness and super responsive, love it but its done its time….wish it was a little stabler off of larger/xl jumps and wider to feel plant on rails. Any advice on sizing for the mega merc? I’m 5’11, 178lbs, size 10/10.5 boot, large union atlas, spend most of my time in the park, but when I’m not I’m bombing the hill. I was thinking the 156w??
Thanks Ryan! Yeah I would agree, go with the 156W
Great video. So smooth.
Just wondering if you can make a video for wide snowboards. I've been struggling with extreme toe drag (size 15 boot). Just had to order from Czech republic a LTB Dream board. Would love for you to review some boards from this company. I live in Massachusetts. Cheers.
It'd probably be hard for me to get my hands on one of those. 15 is really big and toe drag will most likely always be an issue for you unfortunately. Check out the Lib Tech Skunk Ape though, they make them in ultra wides
@@SearchofSnowboarding the one I ordered is 178 long with a waist of 320! I'll let you know how it goes.
Love seeing you still rock those kass bindings. How do you think they feel compared to regular atlas / force bindings?
Oh man, tough question haha. The Atlas is my favorite binding hands down with how I like to ride and how I like my gear to feel, which is slightly more aggressive than the Kass and Forces. The Kass bindings still feel amazing, and so do the new 2024 Forces which I'll be riding more this year for groomer days.
@@SearchofSnowboarding thanks for the input! I’m thinking of picking up a pair of atlas’ soon so that is real helpful.
Nice shreddin bro 🎉
Appreciate it 👊
Hey, hoping you can help out. Im 6’ 180 and I just got a crack along the entire nose of my 158W right outside the binding. Very unfortunate. Getting a replacement board and wondering if sizing down to a 156W is a bad idea?
Nothing wrong with the 158W but im hoping the 156W will be more playful. Carving and jumps/pop on the 158W was AMAZING! I do like to go fast as well. Weight limit for the 158W is 190 and the 156W is 180. Surely a 2cm difference wont change that much right?
I've found a noticeable difference between the 157 and 159 myself. I think the 158W would be the best size for you in this board
smooth with it!
Thanks dawgie!
What bindings and boots are you running?
I'm thinking of using my Now Select Pro bindings.
Union Atlas is my favorite binding and I think it pairs perfect for this board. And I wear the Ride Insano boots
Damn that was impressive. I have been mostly riding Jamie Lynn Lib techs since I first started riding in 95. I am debating grabbing one of these instead this year. I am not a park rider but more of a powder, tree and groomer rider. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the differences. I really appreciate it. Great video.
I've been loving riding this board in every terrain. It's super fun in the pow too. Here's a similar video I did ridding it in deep pow ua-cam.com/video/XqAzzZzdjw0/v-deo.html
Steeeeezy af, I hope to get on your level some day
Yeeew, just keep getting out there
Very nice keep it up 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
You rip! Just curious what you think about putting Union ultras on my 58w mega merc. I know the atlas is recommended but I’m looking for a more surfy feel without sacrificing response. Was also thinking about jones Mercury and bataleon blaster full wrap. Any other recs come to mind? Thanks!
I think you'll be happier sticking with Unions as opposed to Jones or Bataleon as far as bindings go. You could do the Ultras, but I would think they would be a little too soft for the Mega Merc, I might suggest the Stratas. They're surfy enough but will be a little more responsive than the Ultras
@@SearchofSnowboardingthanks man I appreciate it
absolutely nasty with it 🔥
🙏🏻🙏🏻
6 feet, 175lbs, US11 size feet. What size would you recommend? Thank you, you are killing it.
I'd suggest the 159 for ya
whoa thank you. 59 is sold out in the stores i can get to. i prob will go 56W as I already have a 160 jones hovercraft for the deeper days... ya think jones orion binding will do the job ? thanks again@@SearchofSnowboarding
@@NilsenMouind We've got a 159 available, www.radioboardshop.com/capita-mega-mercury-24.html?id=98402032&quantity=1 . I don't know too much about Jones bindings, I've been loving my Union Atlas on mine
What size are you currently riding? I’m 6 foot 4 210lbs and have a 12 boot. Just ordered a 159 for an ATV board. Thoughts?
I rode the 159 last year, this year (and this video) is on the 157. 159 should be fine for you, but you may have wanted a little wider with the 160W
@@SearchofSnowboarding honestly I decided to go with the 159 rather than the wide because I love the white and red lol not a fan of the blue. Figured with the waist width only 1mm smaller than my 158w super doa I should be good 👍🏼
What size boot are you? I am 5'10 185lbs with a 10.5 boot. I want this to be my one board to do it all and can't decide between the 155 or 157...
Smooth style
Thanks my dawg!
how would you compare it to the super doa? do they go good with union ultra bindings?
Both great boards, I personally like the Mega Merc better because it doesn't have the zero camber near the tips. I think that helps it snap better too. The Ultras are great but they might be a little soft for the ride of either of these boards
Did you center your stance by 0.5 inches? Or did you leave it setback?
No, I left it set back. Nothing noticeable when riding switch
Hey man!!! I’m about to buy a mega mercury but not sure on size? 😅 I’m 84kg and 5.10 ft. My boots are 11.5 US. Could I get away with the 157?
You would want to go for the 158W with your foot size. We have some in stock right now and you can get free shipping with code SANDWICHBAG www.radioboardshop.com/capita-mega-mercury-23.html?id=86322534&quantity=1
Ripping. Was that only 1 day filming? You're not wearing the same goggles on the lift and on the park laps. Different bindings too (even board maybe?)...?
You're the only one that has noticed haha. Yeah all one day of riding footage, just added some lift b-roll from a different day
Yeah you are ripping so hard I wanna pay attention to details to learn a bit.
Did you even fall (a lot?) to get so much content in one day? Mega props.@@SearchofSnowboarding
@@NilsenMouind Honestly not really, on was on point this day
Hi mate! Awesome skills right there! I currently ride salomon huck knife pro 155 and Im considering a mega merc as a new board.
Im 78kg 178cm and my goal is to progress on park and one day get to do a run like yours 🤩
Would you reckon 155 mega merc will work well? Im just afraid I might be losing too much effective edge due to rocker zones. And I guess 157 might be too much. Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks!
If you want to go bigger off jumps, go for the 157 mega merc. I rode one last season and rode Huck Knives the past several seasons. The mega merc with the core cutouts in nose, mid, and tail make it pressable and flex more than regular mercury. Slightly stiffer than the HK pro (just flexed them all last night and came to this realization). Cheers.
@@garyscoophi mate thanks heaps for the insight! What is your personal preference being able to ride both of them? Are you able to highlight some pros and cons? Which size huck knife did you ride? Cheers mate!
@@leotigano2073 I honestly dont ride the Huck Knife Pro 155 anymore unless I'm just jibbing. Its my beater board now. Since I upgraded to Vans Verse (stiffest vans boot) I was buttering it like a toy board and only ride the mercury boards I have at the resorts. I have a Mega Merc 157 for groomer and park, Totally Fkn Awesome 159 (same board before the merc name came along) for preseason / hiking days since its a bit beat up, and Mercury 161 for setting bindings all the way back for deep days. The shape and camber of the mercury does everything well enough for me to cruise, butter, or send it whenever I want. All I need to know before going to the slopes is what kind of terrain / conditions I'm planning to ride. Edit: Also wanted to add you wont really notice the 2cm difference in length. I honestly appreciated it when I got my first mercury before going to jackson hole and going "bigger mountain" riding.
@@garyscoop perfect mate! It makes all sense. Appreciate your time and feedback! It sounds like a very versatile board and based on what you described a 157 will do the job for me. (As we don’t have much pow riding here)
Final question if you dont mind me asking again 🫣, did you notice any big difference in riding with the wider waist width of the merc? 155 is already wider than 155 hk pro, going to 157 it makes even wider. Im on 9 us boots btw.
Thanks again!
@@leotigano2073 I'm size 9 boot as well and prefer the width of the Merc.
i have a free thinker and really like it do u think the mega merc would be a good add to the quiver for all mountain bombing, side hits, park jumps ,light jibbing and some heavy powder days here and there or would the mercury be enough and just the same agressiveness as the free thinker
Update there was a sale and after going back and forth between the aeronaut and the mega merc I got the mega merc since the discount made it the price of a regular merc I just hope it fairs well in some of the powder in bc that gets really deep like knee - waist high
Good choice, I was going to say go with the Mega Merc anyway. I've had a lot of fun days in the powder with mine
@SearchofSnowboarding yea I honestly am really excited I just hope the edge hold also is good becuase coming from full camber on the free thinker I feel like I might feel it's weak
The Mega is pretty much full camber, you won't notice a lack of edge hold@@keagostax1630
What camera did you use for those helmet cam shots?
GoPro Max
How do the Mega Merc and the BSOD compare to each other?
More freestyle on the Merc, and stiffer and directional on the BSOD. I love them both, just different weapons for different days
Cool
🤙
u go big
Thanks dawgie!
Do you prefer this or the super doa?
This board, it's a little stiffer and lighter which I like
@@SearchofSnowboarding do they both carve as well as each other? I own a mega merc 2022 157, looking at a capita super doa 58.
Thanks man, I went the 58wide mega :)
Mercury or doa ?
If you like a stiffer board go Mercury, if you like a solid medium flex board that will be easier to jib go with the DOA
How tall are you riding a 157?
6 ft, 150 lbs
nice. what size feet?@@SearchofSnowboarding
That board looks a little small for you, no?
Nope it's perfect. It's 157, and I rode the 159 last year which was too big for me
@@SearchofSnowboarding How tall are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm trying to decide my next board size. I'm 6' 3" (you look similarly tall) and want to get the t rice pro, but not sure if the 161 would be too small for me. (Those jumps were sick btw)
@@oitotheworld23 6ft but im only 150lbs, weight is a big determinant for board size
@@SearchofSnowboarding I just grabbed the 158W hoping I grabbed the right size. 6ft 165 11boot
@@blasesalvatore Yeah that sounds perfect
Dude, are you pro?
It’s never mentioned and you’re like one of my favorites, wtf
Technically, no but thanks for the support!
@@SearchofSnowboarding Do you teach? Im being serious. You are a hell of a rider.
@@willboutte The only teaching I do is through my videos, but we have yet to get into how to trick tutorials
Damn dude. You haven't ridden big park jumps in 3 years? And then you ride it like that?
Yeah felt sooo good to be back honestly, thanks dude
Capita mega death review???
Coming soon; spoiler alert: it's the sickest board!
