    Thank you for this video! I recently got my license to practice law and as a gift to myself, I wanted to get this pen. I also love Pilot G2 pens so the fact that the refills are compatible made it all the more appealing. However, thanks to this video I realized that finding the refills was going to be a nightmare because just like you, I hate the idea of buying the entire mini pen only to strip the refill and toss the rest into the bin. As such, I'm going to purchase the full sized one right now. Have a great day!

    I just received my brass “short” model three days ago and absolutely love it. The Blue bolt head was a nice added touch....I highly recommend it. -Stephen, Ohio

    I was about to pull the trigger on this one. I'm thinking now the short size, versus the mini. Thanks for such an in depth review.

    Dec. 1st, 2002, got my mini copper first bolt action, (or any pen) purchase, and every little single thing u said was exactly perfect... down to the ink on hank. I see why your the Diamond among gems.

      I agree! I'd rather have a crayon or pencil during the zombie apocalypse than this pen. But hey, it can write on waterproof paper...because there's lots of waterproof paper laying around, strewn across the wilderness, or whirling in the wind in the middle of downtown San Francisco.

    I don't know why, but hearing Nick's voice makes me picture the guy that use to host "the Meat Show," Nick Solares. Nick Shabazz probably doesn't look like him, but that imagery comes to mind.

    I don't fully get these 'EDC Pen' reviews because there's little mention of how well it actually writes. But if you search for 'Pen Reviews', you'll actually get the reviewer's opinion on writing with that pen. But in the EDC world, often associated with EDC knives, pry tools, flashlights, etc., these tactical pens are more pocket jewelry vs an actual writing instrument. I do EDC a pen, but not something with bolt action -- because I want a great writing experience over the cool factor of pocket jewelry.
    Also, it seems many EDC guys have a bugout bag or emergency bag in case of zombie apocalypse. And in that bag, they have an EDC pen...similar to the Fisher Space. But if you really need a writing instrument during the zombie apocalypse (or armageddon), then wouldn't a solid pencil be better? A pencil can write underwater, on boulders, stones, walls, etc. Whereas a Fisher Space can write on waterproof paper? I just don't get it. I carry a 5.6mm Mechanical Pencil. It's a solid chunk of lead, and the damn thing can literally wrote on anything. I'm more prepared to write the zombies (or God Almighty) a letter than someone carrying a bolt action pen that may or may not work when you really need it.

    • @TheHumanFlag

      The Wall Cometh he usually talks more about how well these types of pens write in relation to their cartridge refill since that is the primary factor. He does care about that more with fountain pens since supposedly those are on another level compared to pens like these. The bolt action is nice and arguably more reliable than a click pen but then screw cap pens win reliability. But yes pencils are definitely the way to go in any sort of world ending or emergency environment. Or heck maybe even a sharpie. Calling this pen tactical is a misnomer. I’m not sure tactile turn calls it that. Nick kind of rants about the idea of a “tactical” pen in some of his earlier reviews on the Hinderer pens.

    What 0.7mm pen would you recommend for big hands under $30, if you have any recommendations? Been looking around but not sure what to get, and you like pens so I thought I'd ask.

    Not a fan of that ink refill honestly... Big Idea Design uses the same size in their short titanium stylus and it's just bad, fortunately you can swap it with a pressurized Schmidt cartridge or there are ways to 3d print adapters for more standard cartridges like the D1s

    I hate that Pilot hasn’t made the G2 Mini refills more readily available by themselves. I have to buy the pens and then throw the body away. The point of carrying a nice pen like this is sustainability. I don’t have to worry about putting even more plastic into the ocean because I can just buy the refills and put it in the pen.

    Gotta be honest, it seems pretty lazy/foolish to design a pen that takes refills that aren't sold independently. I love the look and size, but the price, and the refill thing? Pass...

    • @VBCVeryBigChannel
      @VBCVeryBigChannel 4 роки тому +1

      Using easily accessible inks is absolutely the correct move. If you don't like the price fully CNC a pen yourself for less 🙃

      "Easily accessible" yeah OK, lol. You have to take apart existing pens to get refills, thats dumb, maybe you disagree, but that's how I feel about it.
      Same situation with the price, maybe it's worth it to you, but it's not to me. I can get a bolt action for less than this. It's a nice looking pen, but again, pass...
