Ken, hello from Mompox, Colombia. I'm a few months behind you on my Adventure Sports. I see that you have had repeated run-ins with police, whereas I have yet to be pulled over a single time since leaving Colorado 11 months ago. I wonder if they dislike the look of your skull on the back of your bike. Nice that your camera discourages bribes. I wish you the best with your recovery in Lima.
Hahaha, I wondered if the stupid skull would draw any undue attention. Surprisingly it hasn’t seemed to. Most of my interactions with the police have just been the normal roadside document checks in Colombia and Peru when they are stopping everyone. I’ve only actually been pulled over on the bike three times, all completely my fault. Twice for speeding (once in Panama and then the one in this video, Peru) and once for going through the tunnel in Medellin that bikes aren’t allowed through. The police have been almost unfailingly friendly, at worst polite. I think the very conspicuous camera on top of the helmet helps. The only time I had a big problem was in Colombia outside of Barranquilla. I was driving a car, and had no camera. They accused me (falsely) of speeding and made a huge deal about it and the police in masks extorted me on the side of the road for about $100 I think it was (after negotiating and pleas of mercy on my part) 😬. Ah I’m jealous, you got all of Colombia to do, Colombia was my favorite so far ❤️ 🇨🇴. I’d kill for an arepa de huevo 😂
Wow that’s some crazy driving there for sure… Put some ice on that wrist while you’re resting and try and get a light wrap or compression on it if it’s just sprained for when you’re driving. Stay safe rest up great video.. 🤝
I remember watching the Billion Dollar Bogan ride through that same area lol . Crazy , you need eyes all around your head at all times ...I think I would lose it for sure .
Yeah it’s mental. To be honest I’d get quite upset sometimes because it was so often/consistent. I can usually take it as it comes while travelling and experiencing setbacks, but the casual disregard for other people’s lives on the road gets my blood boiling 😡
