    Not a big fan of full suspension but if I would be considering one the SST/Tilt/Datum would definitely be on the shortlist all really cool & unique bikes

    Way to go Steve! Don't push too hard to pump the content, but pretty cool to see what Outerbike has to offer this year. Digit bikes and their rad frame design surely has more to offer... Take care and stay safe ✌
    (sidenote: check out Pivot too with their sub 13kg Shadowcat - a 140 acoustic trail full sus that pedals like a 120 and decends like a 160, and their new Shuttle SL - an eBike that weighs the same as a modern Enduro bike but has all the bells and whistles. Could be interesting rigs during your recovery!)

    I have have four Canfields. 2008 The One, 2011 The One, 2020 Balance and soon to be built 2022 Tilt. Before CanfieldI had Cannondale, Titus and Turner. Canfield is by far the best.Canfileds

    I’m a CBF fan. I have a Canfield Lithium and love the way it pedals. It feels like 100% of my effort goes into making the bike go forward while the rear suspension stays very responsive for maximum traction. It’s a heavy beast, a function of the coil fork and shock, DH tires, and XL frame size, but just by pedaling it you’d never know it’s a 160 mm travel enduro bike.
    I have some time on a Revel Rascal, which also uses the CBF suspension, and it’s a rocket ship.

    I own a Canfield Tilt and love it! The rear wheel sticks to the ground through technical climbs. The bike feels stable and confident while ripping downhill. Party up and party down

    My two full sus bike I own are a Canfield tilt and a revel rascal, both use the CBF suspension and it’s really as good as Steve says. Both bikes climb soooo well and descend just as well. I highly recommend trying either bike if you get a chance.
    I also ride a nimble 9 from Canfield and love that bike just as much.
    Still waiting for my raw yellli but from what Steve says it should be a blast to ride.

    Own a Canfield Tilt and Lithium plus an Ibis Ripley. CBF is amazing downhill and pedaling. Issue I have with it is that it doesn’t pump terrain as well as other platforms I’ve tried. My Tilt was supposed to replace my Ripley as my daily driver trail bike…instead I went back to my Ripley for smaller terrain and bought a Lithium for bigger terrain. N+1 is always the solution 😂 It’s insane how capable CBF is when pushed hard.

    Hey Steve, thanks for showing us a few different products to the other UA-camrs, I always appreciate your videos and hope you’re doing okay at the moment. On ebikes I’m completely with you, “real mtber’s” give too much hate to us ebikers with no idea why we ride them. I’ve always owned hardtails (and still do rides depending on which friends I’m out with) but after a heart attack at age 39 (I wasn’t out of condition, I was actually on a ride at the time 😂) I decided to get a Rocky Mountain Powerplay as my only full suspension bike. It’s great fun and allows me to do 50 mile rides while I usually get too tired on my hardtails after about 25 miles max.

    I’ve got a Revel Rail that uses CBF suspension design. It’s my first full sus so I’ve no real point of reference, but it does everything I ask of it and looks after me when I get it wrong.
    Really impressed with it so far.
    It’s also got Zipp Moto3 wheels on making it 1kg lighter than my steel hardtail 😅

  • @jonthesailorman

    CBF is special stuff. Have a lot of time on a Revel Rascal, and the way it combines pedaling efficiency with suspension activity is impressive. I’d like to see this integrated with some size specific chainstay lengths in the future, and possibly vertical oriented shocks for more front triangle room. It does look like a complicated design though, so I get why that’s not a thing already.

    yessss! fat bikes are so underrated on the trails these days. a lot of manufacturers have stopped making them all together with just a select few only making one and things like tires are becomming slim pickings between brands. would you and your wife be able to do a full review of that fatillac? it looks aweseome. also, im glad youre feeling a little better to the point where you were able to get out and ride some bikes (non-ebikes). its good to see you smile again! thanks for still making some of the best mountain bike videos on the planet :)

    A suspension stem makes more sense than a suspension handlebar because the ends of your bars won't sweep down.

    • @hardtailparty
      @hardtailparty  11 місяців тому

      That would be an interesting comparison. I don't think these move a noticeable amount. They're meant to take the shock out of harsh hits.
      I worry that a suspension stem would change weight distribution, balance, and body position. I wasnt able to get these to flex more than a few mm.

    Totally with you on love of 29+ and disappointed that it isn't more popular. Also agree that fat bike geometry has a way to go. I think it is the same as when 29 first came out and they went back to old school geometry. Hopefully fat bike geometry will come around.

    Good on ya Steve. I have the Canfield Toir (Riot) from 2017. I've run it coil and air shock, coil and air fork and it all works so so good. You're right, the suspension is special. With all the cool new rides out there (I even bought a few since then), I still head back to get on my Canfield. Just put in a Works Components angle set to knock back the head angle by a degree. That headset rejuvenated and modernized the geo just a little. I'm keeping this sucker. Love it.

    $324 for those flex bars is robbery. I don't want to hear about engineering cost. This design has been around for a long time. $200 is appropriate. MTB prices are ridiculous for everything just because they can. Some prices are justified but not here.

    • @jeremyprovonsil7886
      @jeremyprovonsil7886 11 місяців тому

      I have to agree. If it costs that much to engineer these then either they’re doing it wrong or there’s not enough end product to justify the exorbitant cost. There is a slow moving wave of riders who are shunning the outrageous boutique pricing and otherwise inflated industry pricing just because they can. It will be interesting to see how this changes in the next year or so.
