@@nikolaiblm1255 The dreaded "hanging-marshes". Nearly went into one, but was able to drag myself out. Funny story, actually. Some guy I knew once told a story of how he got stuck in one while orienteering, (running after waypoints on a map in sequence). He got stuck in this really inconspicious plot in the middle of the woods (the worst kind of hanging marsh), and sank to his shoulders before he stopped, and was eventually saved. Back to my story. When I stepped one foot onto the marsh, I could feel the "wavy" unsteadiness and recognized it, using my momentum to fall/dive forwards and grab a branch. As I dragged myself up, I found a plastic thingy, which I later found contained a map! The guy was 'bout a head and a shoulder taller than me, by the way :) Anyways, the muddy bits this guy crossed should've not been crossed, he should've called it off, unless he had a board or something wiht him.

Great part 1 :) The lake hadn’t dried up naturally. It is used as a reservoir for a hydroelectric power station. So in late summer a lot of the water has been used, before it’s filled up again by the fall rain and in spring by smelting snow
Well, the people who managed the hydroelectric power station should've taken a moment to consider how it might alter the plans of anyone planning a straight line mission against Norway. That's on them.

Amazing. Just to say, you could contact NRK (Norwegian BBC) and I bet they'd be interested in covering this
Acually i think my teacher told me somthin like that in school
Tom: How can the lake dry out?
Also Tom: It's a reservoir leading to a dam.
You're in the late season for hydro power dams. They fill up during spring.
without irony, I didn't know that, thx :)
He kept referencing a damn so I was curious if that was it
I was worried thoughout the episode that the lake would be flooded suddenly. I've seen numerous hydro-power reservoires where flashflood risk are not to joke about (unrooted trees along the shores).
@@HenkDeSuperNerd Rainfalls aren't that intense up north. It's the snow melt that is relevant. Tom missed some research there. But he obviously survived :D Can't wait to see what kind of dam it is.

Fyi: As children we're told horror stories of people who die getting stuck in that mud you were walking on.
I think those kind of stories are told about almost any marshland in dried up Norwegian lake banks
The guy was 'bout a head and a shoulder taller than me, by the way :)
Anyways, the muddy bits this guy crossed should've not been crossed, he should've called it off, unless he had a board or something wiht him.

Above them, a relentless rain-spattered Headwind, which sent Vyrnwy-esque pangs of angst
Coursing through my veins.'
Imagine Tom making straight line missions so popular that it'd just be normal seeing people around just independently walking in straight lines in all directions, everywhere
Great part 1 :) The lake hadn’t dried up naturally. It is used as a reservoir for a hydroelectric power station. So in late summer a lot of the water has been used, before it’s filled up again by the fall rain and in spring by smelting snow
Thanks for explaining that. I thought it was really weird that the lake had dried up
So what you’re saying is that he maybe could have seen this coming...
Well, the people who managed the hydroelectric power station should've taken a moment to consider how it might alter the plans of anyone planning a straight line mission against Norway. That's on them.
Imagine my surprise when I see you attempt this just out side my house!
I live in Hauknes, Mo i Rana.

Well, the great thing about Norway is the law of Allmannsretten (Every Man’s Right) which makes it so everyone has the legal right to freely traverse private property as long as you keep a reasonable distance to houses as to not disturb the people living there and/or damage/take anything from the property. (Pretty loosely explained)
Add it to the list of things he could have known before the journey!
As a swede who has the exact same rules with the same name i really think it was a wise choice to pick a Scandinavian country. Norway is perfect for it's thing area. Idk man I have seen lots of bears in Canada and not only from inside a car. Never had anything happen to me and I would say all encounters were cool. Bears are dangerous but if you don't do anything stupid they will just ignore you.
When you talk you’ll make the bear’s scared, and disappear. This man talked sometimes, but 100% he didn’t talk a lot or made a lot of noise most of the time. So meeting a bear could happen, also as that there Are proven to be bears in Norway, not a lot, but it is.
