I particularly like the blue marled knit, though all the fabrics are lovely. The silks will be amazing. The black lace oh La La! I cannot wait to see what you do with it all.
Toni, you know I was cracking up at your intro! You don't have sewing addiction! 😅🫣😂Those fabrics look fabulous against your skin tone. The wool fabrics are beautiful. I probably would have a panic attack walking into a high-end fabric shop, 😮😮😮 so I live vicariously through you!❤😊😊❤
OMG. That blue wool & cashmere knit is FABULOUS! I'm salivating. Now, I don't normally want any fabrics I see on these fabric shopping hauls...but wow. THAT ONE is absolutely gorgeous. Ooh my! If you decide it isn't for you...hit me up.
Raw silk is my all time favorite fabric to sew. I love to choose classic simple styles and let the silk be the focus. Years ago I made a pair of slacks and matching blouse and always felt so “put together” in that outfit. What a fabulous haul😊
@@SewSewLounge no, it really doesn’t. I dry cleaned my silk shirts for years before I accidentally got one in the wash, it came out just fine. Even a bit in the dryer, since I never iron anything. I have a raw silk Sew Liberated Studio Tunic I routinely wash. Kinda fun use of a nicer fabric.
Silk can be washed! You just have to pre wash before you sew with it! The manufacturers don’t want the extra step to they label everything dry clean only. It’s a conspiracy 😉 with that being said, always wash a scrap of fabric first just to make sure you will like the drape and hand after washing. Silk shantung looses its sheen after being washed. It is very sad that High Fashion Fabrics closed. I will remember shopping there fondly as I use up my fabric.
@@SewSewLounge ohhhhh my gosh!!! How did I not know this!!! I am getting alllll of the sills now!! I just didn’t want to bother with dry cleaning because my kiddo always finds ways to get my clothes dirty on first wear 😂😂. Thanks so much!! It is messed up that manufacturers do not preshrink fabrics with rtw 🤦♀️. Hopefully you can find a new place to shop that you love. I know it will not be the same especially if it is not an in person store. Thanks for your video it was so much fun!!
Great beautiful haul! I wouldn't know where to turn. You're so smart to go the sale several times and a lovely present for a friend. And the same friend got you something you had wanted also. So sweet!
Wow all that is amazing! I live in a fabric desert so I have to live vicariously through people like you! I would have gone crazy. I also love silk. It’s kinda scary to cut into but I am sure you will make some awesome clothes. Those wools are divine as well.
Lovely fabric choices! Don’t feel one bit guilty. It was the chance of a lifetime to buy such high quality fabric at those great prices. I will be glued to your channel to see what you make ! ☺
I’m so glad I got a chance to purchase fabric during the sale but it’s soooo sad they’re gone now because it was the only fabric store in the area that had the quality of fabrics, trims and buttons they had, we’re going to miss them😢
I made several trips to High Fashion Fabrics . My daughter and I actually showed up in one of your videos! I waited for the 75% off sale to buy 100% cashmere originally $299 a yard! Once in a life time fabric sale!
That is awesome! How funny that we were both there at the same time. I’m so glad to know you got a deal on the cashmere 😍 that sale really was once in a lifetime.
What a bittersweet end to what sounded like an awesome store. At least you made out pretty well! off-topic question for you, Toni... How do you store your patterns once you've opened the package and cut out the pieces? Do you fold everything back in as well as possible in the original package? hang it all in your closet? etc. I'm looking for a neat, space-saving way that can also help me store these safely, to hopefully avoid ripping. Thanks!
It’s was sad for High Fashion to close but I got some beautiful fabrics to remember it by! I just fold my patterns and put them back in the envelope. I also write the date that I finished the project on the outside. My mom bought a bunch of used vintage patterns at a thrift store and the original owner put her name, the date she sewed the pattern, and where she was living on all of the envelopes. It was really cool to “follow” her through her life as she sewed.
Hi Toni! I was able to buy some beautiful fabrics during the closing sale at High Fashion Fabrics too. Your selections are nice....I'm glad you got the silk fabric for the caftan. On your girls day shopping trip it was funny to watch how you talked yourself into buying that fabric with the help of your two sewing buddies! I can relate 😂! Have fun sewing and creating! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
The Mexican styled floral trim reminds me of a similar dress Taylor Swift wore recently. Maybe you could make your own version? Enjoyed your watching your shopping haul video. But sad to see yet another great fabric store closing. I’ll be interested to see where you shop in the future. Thanks!
I haven’t seen her dress! I’ll have to check it out. Yes it’s very sad another great store is closing. I don’t know where I’ll be shopping. For now I’ve got plenty of gorgeous fabric to keep me busy.
I felt the same way that why I bought it with no plan to use it. There was some other purple lace that was really cheap but it was super scratchy so I left it behind.
@@SewSewLounge I use the super scratchy stuff for accessories or long skirts where they won't touch my skin as much. Sometimes I put them on my corsets if I know there is going to be a barrier between it and my skin.
Purple is my favorite color, but the only shade I can wear has brown undertones. Doesn't matter...I still love it and get drawn to the purples first every time I go fabric shopping.
Thank you! Probably a jacket or a dress as most are 60 inches wide. I think I have between 3-4 yards of the suiting fabric. I probably won’t attempt pants since I’m not great at them and I love my fabric too much to mess it up.
I gotta ask. Which came first, fashion school or law school? Do you have a video where you talk about this? I just find this fascinating! Love your channel!
Thanks for your comment ❤️Fashion school was first. Law school was plan B 🤣 I talk about my early sewing days in this video ua-cam.com/video/dS0PqkphHi4/v-deo.htmlsi=9-VCkSxBuNpwUcGv
Sometimes I wear royal blue 😉 I have yet to find that color in a fabric I like. Very good idea on making some tops for my suits. I’d been the fanciest lawyer in municipal court!
Why not make a beautiful dress with the peach silk. Oh my!!! Remember to piece the different colored silk scraps and use the patchwork as an informal lining. oh goody. Use some big flower trim on the top surplice of a nice wrap style dress Diane von furstenburg style, maybe. Working at the high court DOES NOT mean you cant wear high fashion brightly colored well made suits! ! !
Very sad for an establishment like this to close. (The fabulous local bookstore near me, after operating under the same family ownership for the past 120 years, is now on the market. Us fans are terrified that it'll end up closing and/or changing to something unrecognizable. It's a place I took my kids to when they were toddlers (son now 29), so the emotional attachment is real. So I mean it when I say, sorry for your loss!)
Bookstores are my second favorite after fabric stores. It’s such a shame that these long term businesses are closing. I try to shop small whenever possible.
I am so jealous. I wish I could have gone. All of my fabric is second hand. I have been looking for heavy fabric that is breathable for summer for my corsets. All of my corsets are made of polyester tablecloths or curtains. They are not at all suitable for summer.
Poly is rough for summer. I’m not sure how hot it is where you live, but I’m pretty sure you’d pass out from heat stroke in Texas if you tried wearing polyester in the summer. Wishing breathable to find their way to you ❤️
@@SewSewLounge I am finding it harder to find natural fabric anymore. Even plain cotton is so hard to find. I remember when cotton was the cheap fabric and was snubbed.
Hello I have a question about your Loungewear/nighties fabrics. Do you pre wash. And if you do how do you keep from damaging the shine on the front side. Thank you.
The shine is from the weave of the fabric, so it won’t wash off like a treated fabric. Silk doesn’t usually shrink so I wasn’t planning to pre wash it. But once it’s made it will be hand wash only.
The knit and raw silk are beautiful
Yes! I can wait to sew them up.
I particularly like the blue marled knit, though all the fabrics are lovely. The silks will be amazing. The black lace oh La La! I cannot wait to see what you do with it all.
The blue knit is even more gorgeous IRL. I wish I’d been able to show it better on camera. Thanks for your comment 😉 I’m excited to get sewing.

I love raw silk too and not just because it’s easy to sew. I love the texture. Thanks for watching 😊
You can wash and dry dupioni and other silks, raw silk, too. I regularly delicate cycle wash garments I’ve made of these silks. Nice haul.

I’ve had that 1940’s pattern for years and have never made it, so it would be great to see you sew it! Great haul❤
Nice! I might do it as a sew along 😉 I showed it to Jen and she loved it.
Love your fabric haul. Purple is my favorite color, too. I look forward to seeing all that you make.
At first I thought I might be buying too much purple fabric and then I came to my senses 🤣
The black french lace is gorgeous!!!!!
I fell in love with it too 😍
The silk charmeuse would make a gorgeous bias cut dress, similar to the green dress Kira Knightly wore in the movie Atonement.
You are totally right! I don’t know if I’m ready for that kind of a sewing challenge yet 🤣
I never really cared for silks because I can only dry clean them buutttt this haul makes me want silk 😂😂. Also it’s super sad to see a store close ❤❤.

Marie at My Bucolic Life uses stretchy lace to hem circular skirts. Slightly stretched, it brings in the hem to make the job easier and neater.❤😂❤
That's a great idea! I have vintage lace hemming tape; I need to see if it stretches. I’ve never used it.
