Out of the 3 periphery players, this is the best sig to get. Misha’ sand Jake’s sigs are a completely QC disaster. Thanks Mark for keeping fans and guitarists player’s in mind when developing these guitars rather than sales and money.
Still no locking tuners is a shame. I‘d be willing to pay a little more and not have to install them myself. Absolute key feature for me. Awesome guitar anyways!
this is kind of the only thing that's keeping me from buying it. I have them on my JBM10FX and they are such a game-changer, I don't really understand why the SVN doesn't have them. Maybe it's worth it just getting it and swapping the tuners to locking ones? I don't know. Big dilemma
@@papaidolatrine2499 it is and I'd do it, but not installing them in the factory is even more lazy, when they get them cheaper than when we go aftermarket
This is one of the reasons I went with a different guitar that cost far more, no locking tuners and the cheap nut. I knew I could swap the stuff if I really wanted, but I just didn't want to have to do that.
I’m eager to see how these new pickups are, glad to hear the neck pickup is supposed to be more traditional warmer sounding. I have the earlier versions in 6 and 7 and love the aggression and clarity of the bridge pickups but them trying for more clarity in the neck pickups they just seemed a little too trebly and harsh. That was my only knock on his guitars…well and that they need locking tuners lol
So the clean tone sounds warmer in previous alpha/omega pickups? How does the Scarlet/scourge sound? I was struggling finding modern sounding pickups which can sound also warm when playing clean tones…
@@劉仲齊 No these new Scourge/Scarlet are supposed to be more traditionally voiced and warmer. What I didn’t like about the Alpha/Omega is the neck PU sounded a little trebly and harsh. The bridge PU in that set is great. I might keep that in and just try to get a Scarlet PU for the neck lol
Lovely guitar!! Really need PRS to step it up though for the progressive/metal scene i.e. Locking Tuners and STAINLESS FRETS. Its 2023 Paul, come on!! We want no fret wear and easier string changes!
Of course stupid me didn't even think about another SVN model after the newest six string version released! My wife is gonna have a bitch fit when I have to tell her my new PRS fixes! She might even hate Mark Holcomb too lol 😆
I wish y'all would show how this guitar sounds. I can't tell if we're only hearing this guitar in the tracks he's playing or if he's just playing to the new album
"Everything on this guitar is exactly what I would have it be on paper", except for a quality nut and locking tuners. PRS seems to keep forgetting to update those two essential pieces for the masses over the past 6-ish years.
For the money not doing locking tuners and a better nut should be absolutely essential. It’s kinda bad when we can’t even get that stock on these guitars.
Only thing keeping me from buying it is the fact that there are no locking tuners on it. Even my relatively cheap Sterling by MM JP50 came with locking tuners and it's cheaper than this guitar.
It’s to accommodate their low tunings and have the right string tension. Their "standard” tuning on a 6 string is dropped D down to C. That’s their highest tuning, they only go lower from there lol
To be completely honest, the binding on ONLY the neck is why I have never bought a Holcomb. Binding is an all-or-nothing affair. Either THE ENTIRE guitar has binding, or you don't use binding AT ALL. For me to buy a Holcomb, the binding needs to go away. The original SVN does not have any binding, which is why I have stuck with it.
I've been eyeing one of the Holcomb 7s for years. With the blue, new pickups, and starting a new job next month. This is going on my list.
im debating buying one after a promotion. did you get one? was it worth it? is the neck mega nice ?
Some of the nicest SE tops I've seen are on these SVNs.
And here I am wishing they'd just do a solid color because the veneers always look cheap to me. :(

I spotted it in the Jared Dines video and now I kinda regret buying my last guitar because this one looks SO GOOD!
Definitely a modern era guitar hero.

I wish PRS made a 7 string with a Floyd around this price point 😩

what do you need locking tuners for? For quick string changes? How often do you change your strings?

"Everything on this guitar is exactly what I would have it be on paper", except for a quality nut and locking tuners. PRS seems to keep forgetting to update those two essential pieces for the masses over the past 6-ish years.

Pickups hardly do anything for tone.
youre free to believe that. Until youve tuned down to G and play a 7 string chord with a high gain setting :)
