The SE Mark Holcomb SVN | PRS Guitars

- The SE Mark Holcomb SVN delivers addictive playability thanks to some unique specifications, including a 24-fret, 26.5” scale length, wide thin satin maple neck with 20” radius ebony fretboard - not to mention seven strings. Holcomb’s signature Seymour Duncan Scarlet & Scourge 7-string pickups provide the right amount of output and articulation whether you’re playing sophisticated chords or solos and whether you’re playing alone or working in the mix of a band. Other specifications include a quilted maple veneer, black hardware, and a 3-way blade pickup switch with a push/pull tone knob for coil splitting. The model is topped off with a string-through, plate-style, 7-string bridge.
“My SE SVN has become the perfect counterpart to my SE six-string, and an absolute mainstay in Periphery’s live rig. It’s designed to be aggressive, but its core features allow it to be diverse enough to handle clean and mid-gain tones just as effectively. If you’ve played my SE six, you’ll find that this builds off what we established with that guitar and more.”

Out of the 3 periphery players, this is the best sig to get. Misha’ sand Jake’s sigs are a completely QC disaster. Thanks Mark for keeping fans and guitarists player’s in mind when developing these guitars rather than sales and money.
I've been eyeing one of the Holcomb 7s for years. With the blue, new pickups, and starting a new job next month. This is going on my list.
im debating buying one after a promotion. did you get one? was it worth it? is the neck mega nice ?
Some of the nicest SE tops I've seen are on these SVNs.
And here I am wishing they'd just do a solid color because the veneers always look cheap to me. :(
@@crummockiphail9720 the old sigs didn’t look too bad honestly
like the tim mahoney se @@crummockiphail9720
Still no locking tuners is a shame. I‘d be willing to pay a little more and not have to install them myself. Absolute key feature for me. Awesome guitar anyways!
this is kind of the only thing that's keeping me from buying it. I have them on my JBM10FX and they are such a game-changer, I don't really understand why the SVN doesn't have them. Maybe it's worth it just getting it and swapping the tuners to locking ones? I don't know. Big dilemma
I know, they‘re not even that much more expensive. I doubt the guitar would be $50 more with those instead
It is so easy to swap to locking tuners you guys just sound lazy lol
@@papaidolatrine2499 it is and I'd do it, but not installing them in the factory is even more lazy, when they get them cheaper than when we go aftermarket
This is one of the reasons I went with a different guitar that cost far more, no locking tuners and the cheap nut. I knew I could swap the stuff if I really wanted, but I just didn't want to have to do that.
So happy with both 6 and 7 string Holcomb model, they are the only guitars i kept. Nailed indeed😀
@@RayFerretti definitely.... Plays like butter... I sold prs se tremonti, prs se custom...
I spotted it in the Jared Dines video and now I kinda regret buying my last guitar because this one looks SO GOOD!
Lovely guitar!! Really need PRS to step it up though for the progressive/metal scene i.e. Locking Tuners and STAINLESS FRETS. Its 2023 Paul, come on!! We want no fret wear and easier string changes!
that finish is fantastic
Alrighty, blueburst I'm sold. Was waiting for the satin Walnut to come back in stock but the blue burst is perfect.
Definitely a modern era guitar hero.
I'm in love again, omg!!! Need the new one as well!!!!
I’m eager to see how these new pickups are, glad to hear the neck pickup is supposed to be more traditional warmer sounding. I have the earlier versions in 6 and 7 and love the aggression and clarity of the bridge pickups but them trying for more clarity in the neck pickups they just seemed a little too trebly and harsh. That was my only knock on his guitars…well and that they need locking tuners lol
@@chopholtz4950 thanks for the info. I like the split coil sounds too. I was just missing that fatter warmer neck PU sound in the Alpha/Omega’s.
Welp that's gonna be my new 7. Glad I heald out
lovely guitar
I have the 6 string version and its a masterpiece
😎👍💓🇺🇸🎸 LONG LIVE PRS!!!
RELIC FREE SINCE 1985!
This is probably the only signature guitar I’d ever buy. Maybe the Adam jones les Paul but marks svn suits what I play and how I play a lot more.
Nice colour
Great song
Of course stupid me didn't even think about another SVN model after the newest six string version released! My wife is gonna have a bitch fit when I have to tell her my new PRS fixes! She might even hate Mark Holcomb too lol 😆
All i’m waiting for now is a walnut natural finish in 6/7 with these new pickups and last years violin carve
Somehow, that 8 dotted delay in the backing track reminds me a song from netral - pertempuran Hati
i owned the previous version
They need to do a rerun of the USA models those were great
he seems to have good songs
when will this and the 6 string be released?
When can we get an 8 string PRS?
I wish PRS made a 7 string with a Floyd around this price point 😩
I just ordered the first SVN a week ago lmao
I've had mine for a year and it's sick. Don't stress, you'd probably never know the difference in a blind shootout. Just play and make cool music!
@@jeffneiman4635 yeah I’m stoked, I don’t need the new shiny stuff, my 2022 SVN is plenty new and shiny
When's the release date?!
what do you need locking tuners for? For quick string changes? How often do you change your strings?
Before every show and once a week for when it'd just practice.
@@MEMDesigns2023 Tonally Inspired Investment!
Time to get one and pay mrak some commision...
Periphery - Masamune
It would be nice to have 7 strings PRS other than MH signature (if left-handed even better 😁)
There are the regular SE SVN models
I wish y'all would show how this guitar sounds. I can't tell if we're only hearing this guitar in the tracks he's playing or if he's just playing to the new album
If you put him and Brandon Boyd from Incubus in a room, could you tell them apart?
Great djent keep it up
"Everything on this guitar is exactly what I would have it be on paper", except for a quality nut and locking tuners. PRS seems to keep forgetting to update those two essential pieces for the masses over the past 6-ish years.
Mark's touring guitars all have locking tuners and a different nut. PRS has known about the crappy plastic nut since day 1.
For the money not doing locking tuners and a better nut should be absolutely essential. It’s kinda bad when we can’t even get that stock on these guitars.
ah yes, the Holcomb burst
I bought and sell previous one. Cant stay in tune for 5 minutes. Pickups are great thou.
Was it an SE?
@@GDCDGC Yes, first one
@@videosbybanana6 i also have that guitar. If you change the nut to a better one, it stays in tune.
@@GDCDGC i changed nut. Dont saw much difference. So i sold it. But i remember it sounded super crisp
This guitar is wonderful. I would buy it if it has a whammy bar ^^
Why is a 26.5" scale length the absolute minimum?
It’s to accommodate their low tunings and have the right string tension. Their "standard” tuning on a 6 string is dropped D down to C. That’s their highest tuning, they only go lower from there lol
A longer scale length on the low string sounds much better and clearer. The opposite is true for the high strings.
Only thing keeping me from buying it is the fact that there are no locking tuners on it. Even my relatively cheap Sterling by MM JP50 came with locking tuners and it's cheaper than this guitar.
0:03 Does the guitar sound crap or could they just not be bothered to insert what he was actually playing here?
Why mad
@@redtoesmaster2931 Because I'm a big fan of Mark, so when PRS and other channels cut corners so we can't hear him play, it's a huge waste to me.
He’s actually playing at 3:16 so stop crying
And he’s playing at 4:30 and it sounds amazing so stop crying
@@MannyMo_ 0:03 is just miming though
Is he just a good sales man or is he really enjoying The guitar….. tell me😂
If only was direct mounted pickups
So you can make a signature PRS, and you didnt make one without these ugly birds?
Thats a shame 😀
I think the birds make it look even better. I suppose that’s just my opinion though
To be completely honest, the binding on ONLY the neck is why I have never bought a Holcomb. Binding is an all-or-nothing affair. Either THE ENTIRE guitar has binding, or you don't use binding AT ALL. For me to buy a Holcomb, the binding needs to go away.
The original SVN does not have any binding, which is why I have stuck with it.
Pickups hardly do anything for tone.
youre free to believe that. Until youve tuned down to G and play a 7 string chord with a high gain setting :)
