  • This is all about Spunky Eclectic Duo fiber sets but you can use any gradient and almost solid in this way.

Mostly my pre-spinning prep is to strip the fiber into sections that are narrow enough they don't need much drafting at the wheel. It's a super lazy approach to drafting, mostly because I'm too excited to actually spin and don't want to draft an entire 4 ounces or whatever I have. It also results in a crazy mixed up yarn that is sometimes deeply disappointing. When I buy a beautiful hand dyed wool, the last thing I want to do is to mute out all the colors that made me fall in love with it. A video on drafting at the wheel, for a color gradient and your approach for drafting for color would be helpful. I watched your previous video on spinning to create a gradient. It's an approach I've tried before with some stunning results.

Hi Katherine, I have several color things I'm planning. The best way to mute out colors is to strip it down into small pieces. Larger chunks will be less muted. I'll talk about that in future videos. It's one of the things we go over in my in person color classes.
