Dear Viv, what you just went through is not to be dismissed. Our pets are family member and we do what we can to cope. Sending hugs and love. You can post once a month and enjoy the time with your puppy; you can do what you like. We love you. You have motivated me to start sewing again after about 20 years. Just keep being you; you are the best! 💖

I couldn’t agree more. Don’t change anything about you or your channel. I lost my husband of 54 years, a year ago. I turn to you to help me get along without him. Love you, Viv, and thank you with all my heart. Please don’t change anything you are doing. You really help me feel better. With all my love, Viv!

Please do not change one thing regarding your videos. You have inspired me to my sewing room with each one and I often watch them more than once. I know how much work it is to produce the garments and produce the videos and I appreciate your great efforts. The detailed reviews of the patterns and fabrics are very helpful, so thank you very much.

I’m sorry for your loss l lost my Googie 2 years ago and still miss him. Had him 17 years.
I’ve been sewing for 60 years and it’s a big part of my life. There’s not much l haven’t sewn but still love seeing what others make. I just came across your Chanel and enjoyed it very much. Some of the patterns l used and some l remember the era. Keep doing what you like that’s what it’s all about.
Look forward to your next video and your new makes.
Happy New Year to you and your family🥂🌹

Big hug for your loss. You sew “real” the good the bad whatever and YOU are wearing the outfits - which I love! I tend to sew and everyone says it’s great but I seem not to wear them. I love bought and silhouette patterns - my choices. But you motivate me. I work full time, commute at least two hours and sewing takes a back seat. You’re so productive it’s lovely to see.

You are the the sweetest person. I come from a family of sewers who were experts. Unfortunately I never lived up to their expectations. I love to sew but I found it hard to show off my creations to my mom and grandma. You have been an inspiration to me to finally just sew for me and not for them. I too have lost beloved dogs and cats and it takes a while to go back to normal. I’m writing this as I have this giant black on my lap who was my husband’s cat . When my husband passed away both the cat and I I guess grieved together and now he doesn’t leave my side. Sending you hugs and thanks for so much that you added to my life.

Zig was a family member. Those Vets that come to the house are wonderful caring people. They reassure us because that decision that is so very hard to make. I’m glad you had them to help with Zig, and happy you had a fur baby to help you through this time. I am sorry for your loss. That person that messaged you about finding your patterns gave me the giggles. Similar style patterns are everywhere. Have you seen the McCall’s release of those 70’s patterns by that famous designer whose name escapes me because I’m old 😊, please forgive. There are several nightgown & robe patterns that are so sweet. I’m on the hunt for one of them that is sold out everywhere!

Viv, my heart goes out to you as this video must have been incredibly hard for you to film. To say that your new four legged addition to the family is a coincidence is an understatement, it was just meant to be and certainly she is helping you through a sad time. Now as to your makes, okay you say it wasn't your best month but that shows just what an honest and genuine youtuber you are. What you could have said is "look at all these makes, aren't they fabulous but I just don't feel like doing a fashion show right now" You didn't, you were honest and that is what makes you one of the most popular sewing youtubers out there 🥰. I am sending you the most enormous hug from across the pond! Now, can I be so cheeky to ask you a question, those Kwik Sew jeans, were they 3540? I have that pattern so far unused but I keep going to use it! Take care Viv, we are here when you want to post, as and when 💗x

Our 16 year lab crossed in March. Before crossing the rainbow bridge, our vet brought in a big jar of Hershey’s kisses. On the jar, was the caption “Because no dog should go to Heaven without eating chocolate.” Needless to say, she was a very happy dog and enjoyed her chocolate with gusto. We miss her so much it hurts. Sending love and sympathy. Hugs! ❤

Oh Viv, Zig lived his best life as part of your family. Tears in my eyes as I remember him and also my late 18 year old cat. I wouldn’t swap all the heartache at the end for missing out on all the wonderful years and adventures we shared with him ❤️ PS plenty of others sewing contemporary patterns on UA-cam for the lady to watch, personally I love to see the older patterns made up into garments.

I also felt like I murdered my cat when I had him put to sleep, I normally let them go naturally. It took me years to get over my guilt even though he was on deaths door he had a big tumor in his mouth, and I was afraid he would choke to death when I was at work, and I could not let that happen.

It is so hard to lose an animal that has been your world and you his world. It is a blessing to be able to ease a lived pet’s pain, but we still feel the loss terribly. In 52 years we have had 7 dogs, usually two at a time. But in all those years we have only spent 9 days without a pet. They have never been replaced. The heart has an infinite ability to love. Fill your heart with more love

Hi Viv, so sorry about your loss. Heartbreaking to lose a pet you have had so many years. The little dog may be the reason you pants no longer fit. Taking daily walks and playing with her adds exercise you don't realize you are getting. Sometimes sewing can be so frustrating, even if you have been doing it for years. I can relate to the pattern/fabric mismatch. Look forward to seeing your November makes. I like those 60's patterns, too. It is when I first started learning to sew. Uh-oh, no you know I am an old lady.

As for me, you have accomplished your mission. Your videos inspire me to sew. Your makes aren’t the “trendy fashions”. They, if sewed would actually add to your wardrobe, for both daily and even on date night with your partner. And yes, I may not be able to buy some of the patterns you use, they however inspire me to look closer at the patterns that I do have or can purchase. Please don’t change your focus, there are very few channels like yours that motivate/inspire me 🙏🏻

Viv, I’m very sorry for the loss of your precious cat. Had many of those losses in my 78 years. Every one broke the hearts of all the kids. 🙏😢❤️. Ya know, just a suggestion on those great pants n jeans that are too big, some videos on how to make them smaller would be helpful. People who sew don’t always know how to alter to a perfect fit. Especially pants. Have sewn since 4H decades ago. Enjoy your You Tube videos. Thank you for always explaining the fabric and allowing adequate time to show the drawings on the back of the patterns. Many rush through or don’t even show this very important part of a pattern. …Hope you take time to grieve the loss of your cherished pet.

  • @katesander93
    @katesander93 Рік тому +3

I have had to do the same thing and 1 thing you can do is take the waist band off press a center Crease down the front and back from the inside and then sew that up take up an inch or so. The most expensive pair of pants I ever bought Eileen Fisher linen pants and when they got to be too big that's what I did and funny enough I've seen a lot of pants that have that seam down the front and back and then top stitch it down. Cool beans.
The other option is money is really tight for a lot of people and you've got a lot of fabric so you can just donate all this stuff to the thrift store pull out a pc of fabric and start over. I've done that too.
I did get a couple of Quick Sew thrift store patterns and Made up a T-shirt for Halloween that actually came out absolutely perfect I hope I can find some more. They're out there.
But you kept yourself busy and you got through the month so that's the most important thing. And I'm sure Zinnia came when she came for a reason. Zig had a great life she was a godsend
And shes with him now. Till you meet again.
    Love you Vivmom!

So glad to see you back and so very sorry about your loss. I totally understand your grief. We lost an 18 yr old pointer a few years back and it was devastating. Time will heal of course but never completely. I now can embrace joyful memories of my precious Sammy and her sweet soul. She was the best. Anyway, I appreciate the sewing mishaps entirely. I've had one or twenty myself. I love what you're wearing though and have that pattern so may give it a go sometime. I'm sorry about that comment. I've run into many patterns on UA-cam videos that are unavailable. But I'd never be a Karen and suggest you were the cause of the frustration. Good Lord. Some people. Please just ignore that person and do what you do because you are a great inspiration to your viewers.

Oh VIV! My heart breaks to learn about the loss of your beloved Zig 😓💔💔💔 We lost our cat Willis 9 years ago! That was devastating because he was with us for 14 years and was our sweet companion. Losing a pet is crushing and can throw us off every time. As far as your sewing makes and fails...it happens. I love your dress and jeans along with others that you feel are fails. Remember...since you adopted Zinnia, you have dropped a couple of sizes so no wonder everything is bigger than expected. Give yourself time and you will be showing your gorgeous makes again! And one last comment...that frustrated viewer...she obviously has unrealistic expectations regarding the patterns you use for your makes! You INSPIRE everyone who tunes in to see your new and fresh ideas! If anything, I'm motivated to go through my pattern and fabric stashes to find similar styles that would work for me and then go from there. So please dear VIV...don't change!!! You offer a wonderful service to all of us regardless of our experience and decades of sewing garments 💖💖💖 A BIG THANK YOU! Please know that YOU ARE LOVED! See you on your next video ❤❤❤🥰

Hi Viv, I only just started viewing your videos and you are very inspiring to me. I lost my sweet cat one year ago but rather than sewing as a distraction, I got into a heavy cleaning kick -- under the stove, the refrigerator, all those icky places, but it certainly got my mind off my Nemo. One year later and it still brings me to tears to think about him. However, this video of yours had me laughing at your thumbs down makes -- with you, not at you, of course! I look forward to catching up on your incredible library of videos and to all of your future ones. Thank you for what you do!

I'm sorry, Viv, but that viewer with that comment really burns me up! Each sewing UA-camr has their own unique style. We, the viewer, can and should, look for the channels that interest us. We have no right to demand that a creator change to suit our preferences. How ludicrous!

So sad Zigg crossed the rainbow bridge. Our pets give us so much love, joy and companionship and losing them is so very hard. Looks like you made a nice dress and shorts which you can wear next Spring. The top that looks like a robe has nice fabric and may be great for lounging. You will make nice things again. I made some awesome pants last Summer and they are a bit snug so have been unworn. I made an awesome lined bomber jacket and should have added length to the sleeves....I still wear it but not when it is too cold because my wrists get cold sigh......I put clothes sewing away and am concentrating on my quilts till the sewing bug returns......and it will, it always does.

I feel for the woman who is frustrated about your using old patterns but honestly I think part of the fun in the "out of print" patterns that you use is the hunt to find them. And for me, being in Canada, the pattern numbers are different from the American pattern numbers so I've got to be even more creative in my search. I usually come up empty but I sure find some fun stuff along the way, lol! Like you said, you're here to inspire. You get us to see patterns in a different light, with unexpected fabrics and personal tweaks. You're doing YOU Viv and we're all really enjoying it. Truly!

So sorry for the loss of your Kitty. You owe us nothing and you like to do your own original style and I think for many who sew that is why we do it too. We are creators. Many patterns get remade down the road and they seem to always run the circuit.

I dont use the brand of patterns you choose nor what you are able to wear/style looks good on my body type. We live different lifestyle too.Two popular patterns across youtube in the last few years, were not a good look on my body type. There are other makers on facebook, love their makes but they have the Height and lifestyle different than mine. But what I do enjoy is your enthusiasm and your discussion of real life sewing challenges, makes me feel better about my sewing. You do encourage me. I have been able to fit better too. You're keeping it real, Viv. Loss of pets is a loss especially your favorite. Love you for being you. Thank you. Looking forward to your November video.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I know it takes a part of your heart when loved ones pass. I do enjoy all of your videos, all of the makes, chats, and fabrics(I didn’t even know about online fabric stores before watching your videos)… You have inspired me to actually use the fabric and patterns I still buy, and actually make something, so thank you for what you share with us on UA-cam!

So very sorry about the loss of your precious kitty. It’s never easy saying goodbye to our fur babies. I can relate to you needed to sew but not really there. I spent time in my sewing room to shut off the worrying & prevent having a meltdown. My son & his wife along with their church were in Israel when Hamas attacked. Thank God after almost a week they were able to get safely back to the U.S. I got some needed repairs in my sewing projects during that time also. I call it my time of Zombie sewing. I always think when we get to heaven there will be our fur babies showering us with love and thanks for providing and caring for them for so many years.

Hi Viv, I am truly sorry for your loss. We too, lost some pets over the years and they really are family members. Currently, we have a nineteen year old cat. We are working diligently, on a daily basis, on keeping her healthy and above ground. She is, to us, like a most precious, fragile jewel. When someone says, "it's just a cat" I feel sorry for them. They don't know love the way I have been graced to give and receive.
As for sewing and sharing your fabulous vintage makes- I love to see them!! Sometimes I purchase vintage patterns on Ebay. I enjoy sewing them up and don't see why you should stop showing what you made because someone can't find a specific pattern. There are so many wonderful things to sew!

So Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately we humans are only allowed so many years to enjoy our animals. We have to pick up and start all over again enjoying another animal. I went through it with a couple of cats and then a dog. It was another sadness to add to my life. But as you said we can distract ourselves with our sewing. I'm at a bottleneck , sort of like yours. I was on a purse making spell until they started to come out all wrong. So now I'm on the verge of having a big clean-out of my closets and then I plan to start making some shirts/blouses. Take care of yourself.

We felt the same when we lost our fur baby at 17 1/2 years old. Our fur babies are family and they bless us as much as we bless them. So, it is deeply painful when they pass away. I am keeping you in prayer. I wish you the overflowing abundant comfort and peace that surpasses all understanding, which only comes from the Lord and Savior. Amen 🙏

I'm very sorry for the loss of your cat. Death is just hard. It's a shame your makes didn't turn out but it kind of helps to know that it happens to everyone even the very experienced sewers. Your dress, however is definitely a win. The minute I saw you,I loved the fabric and wondered about the design and availability. I kept hoping you would stand and show it off.😂 It looks very pretty!

Viv, my heart goes out to you, losing a pet is just horrendous. My Harry ( a big beautiful loving cat) died in 2021 and I still get broken up ever time I see his picture which stupidly is my screen saver along with his sister who is still alive. As for videos, I miss your tutorials and fabric hauls. Maybe you stopped because it is just so much work. I will admit my interest have mostly gone elsewhere because I don’t need inspiration.

I like your videos because you talk about how you alter patterns to make them even easier to make (I never would have thought to remove the back zip and replace it with an opening with a tie or simple top button closure). You also discuss fabric choices and why certain ones are better for different pieces of clothing. I found challis because of you. You offer a wealth of information that is helpful so that those of us who don't sew clothes as often have a better shot at getting it right when we do make clothes. I have yet to try any of the patterns you have shown, but I can transfer your info to the ones I do have and try. Don't let a few comments keep you from doing what you do.

Dear Sweet Viv....so sorry for your loss. I completely get it. We lost our fur baby, Ellie on June 2. She was a Lhasa Apso and 17 1/2 years old. We used Lap of Love. We had Dr. Tyler Johnston (Illinois). Dr. Tyler was the most caring, gentle, loving person and he walked us through everything. He was so patient and kind. Ellie passed on our laps on the couch where she spent the majority of her life. It was a heartbreaking, painful experience. And while I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone---we had her in our lives for 17 plus years and she was well treated, spoiled and loved and she gave back that love ten fold. Animals have no agendas...feed them, exercise them and love them and they will always be grateful and loving back to you. I feel your pain...it does get easier however, I still miss her every day and pray that one day our spirits will meet up once again. Love and good thoughts to you...

I laughed when you said you didn't realize you can bring dogs everywhere. I have had dogs my whole life. After my last dog passed on, I was looking for a new one to adopt. Then, out-of-the-blue, I learned about a cat in need of a home (I would be the 4th home for this poor kitty) and I couldn't say no. I have fallen in love with this little guy, but he is definitely ONLY an inside cat and doesn't want to go anywhere, so this is a huge learning curve for me.

I don't understand people complaining about your videos, you are inspiring, and fun to watch. I would not sex exactly what you sew, we're different people and the whole point is to make something customized to your personnel taste and choice and lifestyle.
I guess it's as hard to downsize as it is to upsize. But yay !! a good excuse to make a whole new wardrobe full of new makes ! 😃

Your an inspiration and make me laugh and I really enjoy all of your videos. I enjoy hearing about your family, your stories and just enjoy you. I'm always amazed on how good you fit things to your size so well. I tend to make things too big all the time. I'm learning to look at measurements on pattern pieces more than back of pattern. Maybe you can create your own line of patterns one day, called "Vivs". Just sayin...love ya! Take care.

hi Kim, when you say 'that Karen', who did you mean? Was her name Karen? If not, you need to know that using the name Karen as an insult/descriptor is very hurtful to people who actually given the name that at birth. It gets so that you are embarrassed to give out your name in public. Please consider this

So sorry for the loss of your beloved kitty. Just want to let you know that what ever and when ever you post a video I will watch because I love to see you model your makes and they are beautiful on you. You inspired me to make a few garments after not sewing for 50 years. My thing don't turn out very well any more but I still try. The patterns that I got are too confusing so I don't always follow them. I made all of my dresses and skirts and lined garments when I was very young and they all were perfect. I wore everything that I made.

For those of us who are newish to garment sewing, it can be helpful to me to understand more about your thoughts about how or why the fabric choice didn't work, or how the outcome was a fail. I don't want to imply that I expect that all of these things can be prevented, but to a newby, it can be helpful to hear your thought process as you evaluate your final product to determine if its a 'fail'. It may seem self evident to an experienced sewist...but I am still learning! I really like your reviews, commentary, and experience sharing----it is very inspiring!

Duds/failures happen to many of us from time to time. I admire you for sharing yours because mine go to the rag bag so no one ( me) doesn't have to see them. The hardest thing about sewing (in my opinion) is matching pattern and fabric . . . . and that takes experience and seeing what others have done. Keep doing what you are doing (it's great) because I like your videos.
