You have a beautiful Clematis there, i have a Clematis of a similar blue colour here in Australia, it has now bloomed each your for 40 yrs, one year the flowers measured 8" inches across.. When i purchased it, the ticket on the pot said it was called " Miss Falconer " Clematis ! Have you heard of such name in the States ? I feed mine with a Rose food twice a year as recommended by the selling nursary, and prune down to around 15 inches in late winter. 👍 Au

Does it get ugly in late summer?

How much sun did this one get? Is part Sun okay?

This plant gets direct sunlight partially for may be 4 hours in a day but there are no trees that shade this plant so I guess that’s why.

I have a few questions! How long does it typically get? How long does it bloom? Do you ever fertilize it and what do you use? I've had a few clematis plants that I've killed lol...and now that I've learned more about them I'd like to get a good one and I've heard great things about this variety. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing with us!

Hi Laurie, it’s supposed to grow upto 8 ft in height and I give it miracle gro fertilizer twice in a year . Once during February and once during August. This is just an year old plant so I have no idea about how long it blooms. Yes it’s indeed an excellent bloomer because of the number of flower buds it produces. Mine is still blooming in the bottom portion of the plant. Hope this helps! All the very best for your clematis growing!

I have an HF Young too and hoping it blooms like yours. Did you prune it in the fall? I'm waiting for all the leaves to fall off before I prune them. Is that correct? I can't wait for spring now. I'm in Zone 9b.

Honestly I never prune it even though it looks unsightly with all the dead leaves . By the time it’s spring, it just starts growing new leaves and flowers buds and all the dead stuff just disappears. I am sure your HF young would bloom beautifully this coming spring .
