I'm located in South Carolina, straw is definitely used here, however I prefer the look of mulch in the front of the house, I use straw in the backyard. I think the mulch just makes everything look so much cleaner and neater...

Amy, don't forget the trick I mentioned last year about the gnats.
Pin a fabric softer sheet to your shirt to keep gnats away. If they are really bad, tuck one in your shoes too,leaving it to hang out.
I live in central NC and we use pine straw. We have also used mulch in the past. We stick with pine straw because we have large oak trees and it is easier to blow leaves out of the pine straw than mulch in the fall.
I am off this week for spring break with my teenage boys. I'm planning on getting a ton of spring cleaning done as I work over 45 hours a week out of the home. I have a ton on my list each day. Glad you posted this AM To give me the push I needed to get started! I like the pinestraw. I've never seen that but it really works!

55 years of age over here. My children are grown and my husband and I found ourselves being empty nesters. But I find myself needing cleaning motivation now more than ever. My daughter is 29 and i still love watching! I have 3 chihuahuas and everytime the boy, elwood, hears 'hi. Im amy darley' he runs into the room to listen to your voice while he snoozes on the couch. Its so funny! Ive mentioned before that i have a few chronic illnesses and the past couple weeks they were holding me down with excessive fatigue so i wouldve been just as happy if your video today was hours long bc i have tons to get done! I live in the upstate of SC. It's very common to put pine straw in your beds.
I love black mulch, but my husband likes pine straw. He like mulch too, but hates putting it out and how fast it fades.
Last spring, we put out bags of black rubber mulch in our backyard beds. It's the best decision we've made! So this year, we bought several bags from Sam's Club and did our front yard beds. They say it lasts 12 years without fading. It was expensive, but compared to what we spend to replenish mulch or pine straw each year, it's worth it! Best decision ever 🙌🏼
Great video! I'm from west TN and we have used regular mulch and pine straw. I like pine straw better because it keeps our dog from digging in our flower beds and landscaping. I think it looks fabulous as well, especially fluffed up and looking full. However, my husband favors regular mulch. Your home is looking spring and summer ready-absolutely beautiful!

I'm NOT a mother. I'm a single woman and I have a career. I love to clean and I watch your videos for great ideas. A suggestion if you feel overwhelmed with chores, kids. I like the pine straw. We used to use pine straw but switched to mulch. Not really sure. I think my husband just liked the look of darker colored mulch. So it was more about the color. But it’s def not weird to use pine straw in NC either 😉

In the area I live I can schedule a pickup through Veterans of America for my used clothing and small appliances. You designate where you are leaving them ( on your porch or driveway) with it clearly marked and they come right to your house. It's convenient and everything goes to our veterans!

I love my holiday decor but I cut back to my entryway server has my holiday pieces but just a few pieces. However I do add more decor in Oct and Dec. I love watching your cleaning videos. Right now I have my house market so I have most of my personal things in storage😮.

It is Tuesday morning (6:30am) as I am sitting down to watch your latest video. So far today I have washed 2 loads of laundry, cleaned our bathroom (mirror, sink, vanity top, and toilet), put a load of dirty dishes in the dishwasher and unloaded them once they were finished, and wiped down the stovetop. I still need to vacuum the living room, but I am going to sit down and relax for a bit.

I’m in my 60’s and never had kids but love your videos too. I suspect you have more non-Mom followers than you think! The pine straw is definitely a southern thing. In the upper Midwest we use mulch or stone. The winds would just blow that pine straw away!! 😊

Hi Amy! After you take the stopper out of the garage disposal take a paper towel and run it around under the rim. You would be surprised of the slime that gets trapped under there.

Hi Amy! Great video as always! I’m from South Georgia we always had pine straw in the yard growing up. We currently live in North Georgia and up here I think it’s a mixture of pine straw and mulch. I rarely see rocks in the yards up here. Have a great week ❤😊

I love your pine straw! I think we don’t see it in our area of Oklahoma because of the wind, I think the pine straw would blow away easier than the mulch. My husband prefers rubber mulch just to avoid replacing it so often and to not have wood mulch against the house. Great video as usual!

The yard looks great! Pine straw is not weird at all! We use pine straw or mulch. My kids’ school uses pine straw. We live in Mississippi, so maybe it is a southern thing. I wonder what everybody else uses?🤷🏼♀️😄
I love the pine straw! I live in NC about 45 minutes north of Winston Salem and mulch is more popular here! But I hate the smell of mulch! Pine straw is definitely used a lot along the NC coast!

Today my cleaning is mostly consisting of finishing the laundry for now ( 1 load in washer and 1 needing to go but waiting for dryer). I do need to clean bathroom which will probably be tomorrow because I have an appointment at 1 pm. We are finally get our house measured for new flooring. I told my mom we are getting the tenco floor cleaner. I got majority done yesterday. We tried to meatball recipe from last week’s video and my toddler loved it. I usually use pine chips because it holds moisture and I currently live in a desert 🏜️ my kids (2 teenage boys and my 2 year old daughter) have the issue. They are all height and no hips. So it is too short in length if it fits in the waist. I end up safety pin or hunting for adjustable waist. Just got some 2 T shirts and 18 month adjustable jean shorts for my daughter.
