26:01 "You can build carriers. They're very A-movable. Seems to be more in your lane."
Brutally accurate, yet actionable advice.
Plot twist: RatioPlusL actually sent the replay posing as Topspin simply to further embarrass him for such a hard throw.
There were similar cases before. Now Harstem contacts the player so confirm they sent the replay.
Is even easier. You can check which pc registered the replay by watching if for the winning player does not appear the "name: has left the game" chat. The reason for this is that the replay end instantly for the player that left the game, but for the winning player will continue register until they click the leave button. So, for everyone sending the replay to iodis, they should be the one leaving, obviously, so if you don't see the winning player"name: has left the game" it`s legit.
@@rara9333 you could have just said that if guy who sent the replay actually won, then it would show "name has left the game" for both players and not just the losing player.
@@rara9333 I'm not sure how hard it would be but you could manipulate the replay to show different nick. (Probably not very hard, there was one guy posting manipulated replays of 'his' amazing shots in Rocket League gaining a lot of views, yeah it was Rocket League but still replay is just file with data and saved actions)
@@rara9333 So contacting player directly is more safe for sure
When the captain pauses the replay it's the same as when an driving instructor uses the car brakes : instant disqualification
Is it Imba or do I suck, is my favorite SC2 series ever. I watch every upload, love the content Harstem.
Imba is my 2nd favorite. My Big favorite is definitely beating grand masters with stupid stuff. haha
@@HomicidalTh0r My second would have to be PiG's salt mines or the Florencio Files. BGMWSS is great too though.
In my opinion, Rank Roulette > Changeling > IODIS, but IODIS is definitely S-Tier content.
There is nothing funnier than someone saying they played the game of their life and then for Harstem to completely shred every aspect of their performance.
yeah it happens so much over the course of IMBA. People have a really warped perception of themselves.
His impromptu analogies kill me. Just pulls the quadruple helmet cyclist right out of his ass.
There has been players with 3300 mmr thinking they are so great.
Harstem is like the Chess engine for SC2 players you think you played the perfect game and you give it to Harstem and he says how many mistakes and blunders you had made in the game xD
@@007avartar Haha so true. I have so often that I pull up the engine for a game where I thought I played pretty well and (even though I still won) it says I almost lost 4 different times. Luckily my opponent did not see it either lol.
A perfect use case for the post-battle summary. You can see the protoss lead get chipped away one fight at a time. -500 for P. -1000 for P. -700 for P. -1500 for P. Stalkers being thrown into siege lines, DTs being thrown into... nothing? No attempt to go around the siege line with a warp prism. No attempt to leverage the eco lead into a contain or overwhelming tech superiority at the point of maxing out. P was bleeding to death and then T provided the mercy kill.
DT are treated as throw away decoys. Zealots run by can do better than that.
Well put, this was indeed a mercy killing
Just out of curiosity, cuz I suck at avoiding siege lines. How do I break the third base position?
@@guangdali6460 I think to beat turtle terrans, the trick is to not play into their fortified positions. They’re the turtle race for a reason and to play into their strengths is suicide. It would be like fighting Zerg on creep.
@@guangdali6460 I think the point is to contain Terran as Protoss usually. Which is why map vision is so important. If they get stuck on only 3 bases, they will eventually lose. If they try to move out you need to be able to intercept while they are moving, before they siege up a new spot with buildings and tanks.
Harstem you're a damn comedian, you're basically a stand-up SC2 streamer
Starcraft 2 is such a beautiful game, just visually stunning.
I tought you would burn him alive for targeting 2 Purification Novas on a Liberator during the huge nova's fight.
Tbf the first shot did kill 8 SCVs and a missile turret. The 2nd shot was complete overkill tho
yeah, everyone knows it takes three Purification Novas to kill a Liberator ;-)
Hearing harstem saying "Ratio + L" is just too funny to me
Cobble moment
Almost sounds like he’s saying Rachel haha
Need to find him
11:38 i misread the zealots where railed into the 3rd and i find the thought so funny. Like humans load clowns into cannons, but Toss are ultra advanced so they load zealos into railguns for entertainment. The zealots also get funny helmets
this episode was just free coaching even more so than all the other ones are.
This is actually a good example of the difference between the lower and upper players in a given rank. Topspin got a lead and could identify having a lead but couldn't figure out how to leverage that lead into a win without just hoping the opponent wouldn't know what to do.
And speaking of ranks, looking forward to some roulette coming back :)
I'm baffled by his decision to never get DT blink despite making 20+ DTs
The game would have been quite different if these DTs blinked on tanks instead of slow walking toward to tank then dying half way.
And he's GM so he obviously know that DT blink is an amazing harassment tool
I'm baffled by his decision of not getting upgrades while being two bases ahead.
@@DiamondPugs I'm baffled by a T who goes 2-gas and then uses that for a 2-mine drop at 4:30. I know I'm bad at the game, but is this really GM?
@@Gil-Galad NA
Oh he was upgrading it as the game was ending, along with +2 armor
He forgor
Topspin seems like an example of when someone has a decently tight build they focus on but a very messy followup. I've been guilty of this too 😬
Looks a bit like he was always to hesitant and passive. Playing safe will get you killed, especially against a better opponent.
@@maffin1012 playing a safe contain, outmining your opponent by 2-4 bases(which in this case was completely possible) is fine as well.
Is it tight... wearing four helmets for a bike ride?
The greatest combo of humor, humility, and actual fantastic lessons both specifically for starcraft and generally for competing
No joke here, this is the best regularly produced competitive-educational gaming show in the world
TL;DW:
1) The Protoss did not exercise map control at all, even when he was VERY ahead
2) At key moments in battles, the Protoss had an embarrassingly bad unit control
Verdict: The Protoss practically beat himself. Nothing to do with the Terran or the opposing player at all.
I really wish he had shown the kills on those 2 hero tanks at the third base. Those tanks held the line the whole game.
What I noticed added to everything else, that Kevin did not comment on is the excessive use of stalkers. I used to do that too so it stuck out to me. Stalkers really suck in actual straight up engagement and he was using them as the main fighting units the entire game. The stalker is an anchor unit that gets you to later tech and can do a bit of anything. If he just build chargelots and immortals instead his constant headbuts into the terran bases would have been so much more successful. Or he could have kept couple of colosus in the army at all times so the teran would have had to keep making vikings wasting supply just for that and having less bio and would have had to use his starport build time so he would have had less medivacs. Honestly this was a case of "I am so far ahead I will build one basic unit and headbut".
I think the reason is this Topspin guy is a Gateway man.
I am so proud of this terran. Finally some praise for T in this channel
@22:24 The trade info card seems to be missing the SCVs killed. I think that the total, 1800 minerals, includes the SCVs killed though.
Gotta love those bed sheet alarms ⏰️ 🤣😂
That alarm system analogy is so god damn funny 😂 12:15
1:40 did Harstem just confirm that 4 helmets is imbalanced?
hahaha
There's also the 15 engagements where could just blink forward with stalkers and leaving them to attack instead of disrupter micro while getting blocked by stalkers walking around not attacking in tank ranges and getting blocked by disrupters. Constantly losing fights just to avoid A moving or blinking after the engagement had me scratching my head.
Let's not forget he was playing someone 1k mmr higher. And, 6100 on NA is like a top 3 T. Not convinced the T deserves so much love and the P deserves to be shredded. Sometimes people who are 1k better than you are just going to outplay you.
The only Gold i struck is your brilliant IODIS series. Thanks again Harstem!
I think going skytoss with carrier/tempest/disruptor would have worked well with the protoss’s abilities. I almost feel he is playing in the wrong league. I’m a bronze stuck in silver, so I am going between murdered and lucky. Good game.
he believed in stalkers too much
I was cringing so much. I feel like a decent lineup of Immortals would have torn through that defense point where he lost all his units to siege tanks.
I love when you can tell it’s going to be “you suck” within the first 10 seconds of commentary
Maybe if you get way ahead, sneak in with a mothership? Then recall cariers. Then if they basetrade recall back if you've done good damage.
I'm so confused by the lack of cannons in the main by the Protoss. After the first or second time the Raven and Medivac dropped units, building three cannons in each mineral line would have completely shut down those flanking attempts.
3 cannons do not achieve that at all, map vision is a much much better solution. I don't understand it when low rank players give advice after watching Harstem analyze the game and not saying anything of that sort.
Oh I love your real life comparisons, laughing so hard right now
@18:43as a protoss this warms my heart
15:18 Topspin is floating 750+ gas since 12:34 gametime (drops for a bit a minute later). Build three stargates and get air. Those two tanks at the terran's forward base must have gotten 30 stalker kills each.
Very bad idea at high level - it gives the Terran time to get stronger and win sooner. Harstem said just get more gateways & upgrades. Air sux horribly against Bio & its a fantasy to think it can deal with those two tanks.
This Terran had no chance if the Protoss just denied the 4th with better upgrades, used a prism to distract the Terran & had better unit control. Its GM and he just needs to play better.
2 Phoenix to lift them and gg
Or dt blink on top of them.
As an aside, it's kinda nuts how an opening build order fuckup from T was so great that it meant P was (almost) insurmountably ahead for 15 minutes.
Because he didn't just fuck up a normal opening, he fucked up an aggressive opening vs the greediest one. I guess you know that, but wanted to add it.
@@henningbreede6428 ye ofc, but it's just like, especially noteworthy here how much a difference it makes.
Tbf at 8:00 it was a good decision to left archon, because he f**k up and prism would die with archon if he wouldnt left him, he targeted tank because that actually hurts terran by drowning their minerals and gas, and marines could been just healed. The mistake were at moment where he just started this strange thing with archon against medivac and marines.
12:20 had me laughing like an idiot to myself lol.
Terra Player just incarnated the spirit of the United States when discovering oil in other country.... he obliterated the enemy army and didnt stop until he was inside the enemy base, holy cow, that was beautiful and brutal at the same time.
.
Also.... Harstem, we need more Rank Roulette, that series was extremely fun.
Nothing says “map vision” like building two Observers and then having a spotter Disruptor at 23:35. If that’s not basically having creep spread as a Protoss, I don’t know what is.
God man, cracked me up so many times “having a burglar alarm” etc.
Umm, this Terran played a masterful game. Holy shit. Not quite pro play but god damn, not too far either, eh? That flank near the end was absolutely brutal. beautiful!
I love the way Harstem pronounces 'Burglar'
Capitan, put the map and player info in that way... I really liked that method 👌
this youtube channel is like r/Roastme but for starcraft
Is it just me or the image quality has drastically improved? Not sure if you did anything but that's really great! :)
"Securing your bedsheets" should be a term now
Love the intro with the versus and map, smooth.
That should have been an IMBA stamp... players that are better than you are IMBA🙂
He was so massively ahead that he seemingly forgot he's playing against someone better than him. This was a death by a thousand cuts comeback.
Heyo Harstem, thanks for making these. Always super happy to see a new video in my feed.
The worlds best neuroscientists still can’t explain where Harstem gets his analogies from
Thanks for the videos! My 1 year old falls asleep every night while watching. He can't fall asleep to anything else.
Nice job, hamster.
El Capitan, I’m fine form also. As per usual.
I can't believe i just heard praise from Harstem towards a terran player on NA
Daym. The bait pylon inside sensor tower range to divide his army->surprise his other side. :O the plays!
That wasn't a bait pylon, he made a gateway.
@@henningbreede6428 the bait deepens!
Terran played their heart out. And it showed.
That 2 tanks in the left bade haven't been touched the whole game, i guess they made 10k resource damage
Kevin, I demand you change the ruling! IT WAS IMBALANCED. The Protos was wrong to say he didn't know what was the unbalanced thing however, because he said it in the form. It was not the Terran race. It was the 1000 MMR. The PLAYER was IMBA. XD
“It’s like a fourth helmet.” Perfect Analogy.
If these zealots that are on the screen at 18:33 flanked the Terran's 3rd at 18:45, the game would just end. This toss is avoiding A-move too much for his own good.
how do you even kill liberators without losing more than they cost when the moment you get in their range they kill almost asmuch as it costs? if there are any other units defending its obviously going to be 5 stalkers per tank or per liberator every single time?
You have couple of scenarios, either you don't mind, take worse trades and kill terran when he is out of his tech units he needs to deal with toss or you pull the bio away and attack them after/possibly just quickly attack other side where he is not sieged and ignore them all together. Ofc you can just play carries/tempest and render those units kinda useless.
blink + target fire
For tanks, just close the distance. They fire slowly, and very few units die in 1 shot to them. If you can't, avoid engagements in that area until you can, or they unseige.
For libs, even easier, as they have a tiny range, and it's centred in front of them rather than around them, so you can outflank them incredibly easily. If you do get into the zone you'll probably lose stuff, but libs are kinda expensive so loosing 1 or 2 units is still a good or at least equal trade, and running away won't be too costly.
Blink stalkers are optimal for both case's, as they can ignore a lot of intervening space, making both running away and getting in close/outflanking way easier. Disrupters are also excellent, as they allow you to clear intervening unit's away, either by direct kills or just the terran having to micro away from them. Plus they outrange tanks by like 0.5 with the splash radius.
Its the terran disroptor it pays for its great trading effectivity by being awkward and unable to fight on its own.
I think Terran defense was pretty imba in this game. The fact he was so far ahead and it was so hard for him to take a decent fight is insane. I get that his unit control wasn't great but it's just way harder attack a turtled Terran than it is for the Terran to defend
Nope. All he had to do was distract the army away with a flank attack then blink forward and focus the two tanks, move back & fire Novas in retreat. Instead he prematurely fired Novas, Blunked into them and blew up his own Stalkers, he Dick Cheyneyed it, just bad. This is GM, he just needs to play better.
It was hard for him because he played very bad for the level and the opponent played very well. Just following some of the advice Harstem gave wouldn't have made it possible to defend for the terran.
I honestly can’t stop laughing about your analogies
I now know that this was recorded after the Serral-Dark series xD
As soon as I saw the opponent was called "RatioPlusL", I knew we were in for an absolute BANGER! 🤣
Very disappointed this didn't end with Harstem saying "you suck+L+ratio"
that map is insanely beautiful
this toss is one of the most delusional and lost players I have ever seen in my life. throw of the century is an understatement
I want to submit one of these, knowing I'm aweful just so he will tear into me. Free coaching yo
I just realized you look like pete davidson
Sir, you need to clean the door around the doorhandle.
1000 MMR difference in GM means they are not in the same league/level. And it shows, oh boy it does. :) And yeah MMR will not make you a better player, but if you are a better player that will eventually show in your MMR.
Did something improve in the production quality or is it just me? It's just looking slightly more crisp than usual I feel. Good job on the edit in any case, and keep the hilarious banter going :D
they've made little improvements in last 1-2 weeks. Harstem's camera changes according to situation, all trades are summarized, the editor puts informative or funny notes here and there etc
I don't really understand the helmet analogy. Can you give us a practical demonstration?
harstem i would consider to bite in a banane instead of rocks cause bananas are really soft and even taste good ;>
I was hoping for the moment that it's going to be one of my games. That someone complains my play is imba.... And then I noticed it's not GM and not D3...
Either way, at 5.1k mmr, he doesn't suck. He just needs to review the reply enough to find out what happened.
I'd like to see the number of kills on those 2 tanks - they paid for themselves many times over!
here for the analogies lmao
We need Harstem bike helmet memes at this point.
he said it takes two weeks to loose your house and life savings XD so specific, how you know mate?
I wish you would cast normal games with all the anologies. I die everytime.
Best analogies ever
Cpt. I report buzzing sound in the background of the video! ayay! Have a nice day!
all he had to do was blink ontop of those 2 tanks lol

Ok I am pausing at 6:30
I am 5k on EU myself.
Before I continue watching, keeping in mind that they are 5.1K and 6K MMR
I am trying to think of something. But it is COMPLETELY BEYOND ME, how protoss ever loses this, if he is not doing it on purpose. It sounds literally not doable to lose here. You could do so many mistakes, or play literally any playstyle. You just have so much more, NO MATTER what you do, you will win by default.
I will continue the video now, and comment on myself later.
I'm going to caveat this with the fact I don't play the game, but wouldn't storm have more or less countered the terran player?
If you bet your life savings and house on a number in roulette youre gonna be broke after the first spin basically every time
Is this series basically free coaching from Harstem based on a single replay?
This was really funny and harsh
In my opinion Topspin had a hard time committing to fights, he just kept running even if he had the advantage in a fight
Dang, he reacted in 1 second to the zealots, but it was bad reaction time. :(
Am I crazy? Are immortals/sentries not an option here? Dude walked into the same line of siege tanks like 5 times and didn’t change anything. Wouldn’t a couple immortals/sentries really help drive that fight past the tanks? Or am I just way out of the loop on the current meta (WOL player recently picking back up LOTV)
Yes. Immortals no longer have hardened shield. Siege tanks would melt first round of immortals, and marines would handle the rest.
Dear harstem can You do reaction video to Winter balance patch proposal?
That's the game of the life of 5k toss. Alright mate, alright
