I'm a blacksmith that makes custom muzzleloaders, flintlock or percussion. I've color case hardened some pieces to protect from wear and for pretty. This experience gives me the feeling that the color case hardening is done at the factory and without having the piece in hand I can't for the life of me figure out how they color the back end. Is that piece removable? Color case hardening is a tricky to do it right. Walther did it superb.
I appreciate your perspective as a blacksmith. Yes, the slide will come off to make it a bit easier to do the case hardening. But still, I have never seen anything so precise. Someone spent a lot of time on this Walther.
Thats a másterpiece in the same part blued and color case harden.. I will risk a conclusión of how it could be made.. First it was color cased compleately (the slide) then a rosin or a hard wax was appied to the color case in the muzzle and back of the slide. Then the edges would have to be perfectly detail shape and cut to then proceed to aply the blueing process too the rest of the slide. Finaly the rosin/wax would be removed and Finaly polished up... Lots of work in prep Másterpiece.
@@luisantolafrancis519 correct, the case hardening done on the ends or whole slide first, then masked off, then the rest of the slide polished off , then chemically blued.
I'm starting to like PPs and PPKs more and more after those awesome videos. If it goes that way i might become serious PP/PPK collector. Although i want to collect CZ 24/27s :D Great videos
@@thomaswhiteman4261 well since I'am from Czech Republic I can say that we have CZs really cheap here averge price for standart CZ 27 is around 1500 to 2000 krowns which is roughly 80 - 90 $ one Day i bought mint cz 27 with 2 mags and holster both from 1946 for 1500 Kč - around 65 dollars so i cant complain. But they can go up to 400 for SA marked for the finnish army
Truly awesome pistol. Just that little aluminum box with the factory stamped onto the lid would be wonderful to have. I'm very pleased to own a nice, but rather common, German PPK/s. The way prices have been going, I'm unlikely to get another!
Case hardening is a heat and chemical process, the " bluing " isn't heat bluing its a chemical process in a hot chemical bath. The colour case harden will be done first then the areas for bluing polished off and the case hardened areas masked off then it will be blued chemically.
Hello there! I recently ended up with a 1941 Walther ppk in .32 ACP. I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a seller or a good place to look for original grips for that variant. It'd be much appreciated :)
Hi Wyatt! I don't believe we have any on our website at the moment (www.legacy-collectibles.com), but email us at info@legacy-collectibles.com and we may be able to dig one up for you.
Sure. We have lots of magazines and grips for all pre-war and wartime PP / PPK pistols. Please just contact us at info@legacy-collectibles.com and we will hook you up !
That's one of the sexiest pistols I have ever seen, gorgeous! we in the UK can't have stuff like that, our government are shit, they ban everything, guns, knives, immoral thoughts etc. we can only drool over things like that from our open prison.
dog pound I have a deactivated Kar98k 1944. I love this rifle regardless of deac. It’s a part of history and I love it with my heart fully. You could do the same with a PPK
@@ConjointVR Thank you for that sir, I was once a member of a gun club in the UK, many moons ago, I saw the heartbreak of gun enthusiasts handing their cherished collectable pistols to the police to be destroyed, made a decision then not to shoot any more, all we had left was .22 pistols and it just spoiled the whole experience for me. My passion was shooting all types of handguns then carefully cleaning them whilst chatting to other people who shared my love of this hobby, our overlords took away our rights almost overnight, now, the only people who own handguns above .22 are criminals and the police. Good grief that PP is nice. Exquisite! One of the prettiest and most tastefully done handguns ever. Outstanding!
That case hardened PP is an absolutely stunning pistol, gorgeous!
Sold in 10 minutes and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!
Gorgeous Walther PP !!!!!!!!!! Thank you for showing it , Sir
I don’t know what I enjoy more, the guns or the intelligence level.
Thank you. Very encouraging.
Tom, That was a great educational video. Can't wait until you get to the Krieghoff lugers.
Amazing. That's the first time I've seen a PPK with a fully checkered brown grip, as well as the case hardening. Great video. Liked.
You are so lucky to even touch these beautiful pistols....... love your channel my friend.
Absolutely beautiful gun
This is probably the most pretty gun/metal ive ever seen. I have been around this awhile... Like 15 years. This is crazy. Amazing
Still a great video
We want to see more bout pp and ppk 🤩
One of the most beautiful pistols I have ever seen! Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
My new favorite. Beautiful!
Excelente demostracio de las Walthers PP y PPk y deseo tener una

WOW, I can't imagine what that sold for!!!
Oooh thats nice, it reminds me of the deadly blue ringed octopus, The Blue Ringed Octopus PP , theres a new phrase for dealers ;).
I like the name
Just can’t understand why Walther don’t make those ppk’s like they used to, I bet they would sell like hot cakes these days!
Love it !!
The long slide version looks suberb. Has any one seen a ppk frame with pp barrel and slide? It is harder to conceal the butt than the slide.

I keep wondering How did they do it ?
I went straight to the Little here,, they still had one hidden in the magazine ♥️
Beautiful weapon
totally stunning ,
Beautiful Piece
Very nice video.
In the future we will see some Italian guns in some videos? Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹
Berettas for sure
How in the world did they case harden portions of the slide and frame and blue the rest?
I believe as the heat travels through the metal, they can somewhat control it. Control being the key word.

That eject port. Damn
If it helps at4.15 of this vid is showing Lidl and Swartz which must presumable be the original Lidl?? Can anyone help?
Love the intro.
Weren't they all case hardened ? All Mauser rifles actions were. Maybe you mean colour case hardened , there is a difference.
Yes I meant COLOR case hardening , not hardened metal
There are two types of case hardening color case hardening which is on this pistol it looks cool other type is for where
Odd question, but can a PP barrel be fitted to a PPK?
