This is the New Jersey F1 Track That Was Cancelled! | Port Imperial Street Circuit

- Today we look at the Port Imperial Street Circuit which ended up being a failed F1 project in the early 2010's. The circuit was meant host the Grand Prix of America and originally intended to debut on the F1 calendar in 2013. Containing a length of 3.2 mi (5.1 km). Sebastian Vettel did a promotional test run along the proposed route in 2012, describing it as "exceptional'' he said as he was reminded of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps & Circuit de Monaco with it's insane elevation changes. Unfortunately the race was subject to a series of postponements and delays stemming from financial difficulties, failure to obtain approval from the FIA, a lack of preparedness from organisers, and a contractual dispute. The race was repeatedly added then removed from future Formula One provisional calendars, and dropped completely from even the provisional calendar by 2016. Enjoy!

Also for anyone wondering what the game is, It's F1 challenge which was released in 2003 so the graphics won't be incredible but it's the only game you can actually drive this circuit on.

@@markdemars7648this is like combination of Monaco, Jeddah, Trial Mountain, and El Capitan.
Fun fact about this, the permanent pit boxes and paddock building were constructed but never demolished. They were retrofitted and turned into shops and are still there today.

As resident in west New York yea the issue mostly financial and questionable promoters. It would be nice if had a race, oh well. It’s almost a great simulation of what it look like. I hope an asseto corsa version can be made one day of this track but it’s a dream

more like what is that run off because there is none at all, except at 0:55 which just has the crowd directly after it. I sure hope this is not the exact plan because it looks like a death trap

This would have been a lot better than the Miami race we eventually got.
Maybe New Jersey could be in official F1 calendar in probably 2030.
Miami got a driver a maiden win on year 3... this would've been a decade of Max winning it all...

FIA wanted a race in New York city but wasn't going to happen so settled for New Jersey, but the area didn't have the Spectacle.
This circuit is right next to the Hudson River and across the NYC skyline
I attended the inaugural race in Austin and had hoped to be able to attend the NJ track unaugural as well. When that hope had faided and I learned about Miami and the actual track layout, I decided to Pass. Then Vegas came about I almost attended, but didn’t end up going, (in hind sight - luckilly), because of a hotel mix up. I decided why not go to where F1 racing is at home for most teams, Silverstone, which I will be attending, with Goodwood, of where I am a member, the weekend after. Finally making up for not being able to attend the NJ circuit and So Much More.
That at 0:20 is why this isn't in the calendar XDDD, this is a death track

If it was wide, 8/10. Great elevation change and the esses are great
The FIA required required the roads that would be the track get fixed and 15 foot deep potholes removed. Thats something they just dont do in NJ for ANYONE.

0:18 would've seen a huge catchfence crash at some point and 0:46 would've had countless spins/wrecks due to the loss of grip. Not to mention, there's like 2 passing zones in total! Thank God this circuit never saw an actual race.
They would have leveled out the parts since at the time there was also speed bumps on the uphill part, that they would have gotten rid of.

I remember Vettel did a promotion for this track and drove around in a Red Bull on the prospective track. He basically said you will need "big balls" to drive this track and I can see why now. That back section is pretty gnarly.

I remember being so hyped about a possible new circuit when plans about this were revealed only to be heavily disappointed when it never got built though now seeing this I'm actually somewhat happy that this project failed

It's like the American Spa. Love the super fast chicanes, could have had lots of action. It looks a bit narrow though.
EA Sports should add this as a fantasy track in F1 25 (that is, if they haven't included it in F1 24).

For me New Jersey Grand Prix Circuit still far better than Miami Grand Prix Circuit.
Sebrings smoother than this.
Assuming they smoothed the track to make it drivable, I’d put at a 6/10. Seems decent for hot laps but less so for racing.
